All that education and he can’t take a hint. 4 years straight of season ending injuries may be some kind of a sign.

Don't forget we are dealing with the COVID generation, I think he got two years combining a COVID waiver with an ACL injury...but yeah bro you are a top TE prospect for the NFL, got get some.

  2. Both sides continue to pay a terrible price.

The Russians have long been masters of propaganda, but they have not embraced social media at the same level as the Ukrainians.  There are hundreds if not thousands of videos like the one below showing the lethal effects of small drones and air dropped munitions.  I hope the lads and lasses in the five sided building have been paying attention.

    Left USAA last month.

Checking/Savings moved to AMEX - getting 4.6% in a high yeild savings account and 1% interest on checking + 1 reward point/ $2 spent.

Insurance bundled housing, cars, motorcycle with Geico (Less than half the cost of what USAA was charging)

Investments are with Fidelity and always have been (I used to work for them and they are great)

I couldnt be happier - I recommend everyone to get quotes and do some research. USAA is screwing you.

I have a bunch of rental properties and am constantly getting dumped to "reduce exposure".  Going through that process and dumping USAA I found AutoOwners actually has great service, rates and ratings.  I use them for our auto insurance, a couple of rental properties and have a big liability policy to umbrella my LLC.  It sure feels like USAA is circling the drain.

Crazy huh...26 years old?  Did you see his history, basically 4 years of injury waivers.  Dude has his bachelors, masters and is about to complete a second masters degree.

Compare that to recent videos of Ukrainian combat footage using platoon and company sized Armored elements in effective combined arms maneuver because we’ve been training them. The Uke’s didn’t start the war capable of that across much of their formations. Mostly individual armored vehicles as supporting assault guns or ambush. Maybe you’d see a platoon but their movement was uncoordinated and sequencing was staggered so like a series of individual punches and not the synchronized sledgehammer that Armor and combined mech infantry functions as when used effectively.

They are growing as a force, and use of western Tanks and IFVs is allowing survivability and carrying lessons to the next fight of the trained soldiers. That’s not something the Russians are getting.

They are still Fires centric where we model off maneuver and I doubt that will ever change for them either culturally or looking at economy of force.

Concur and it will be see how the Orcs respond.  Combined arms is a multiplier on the battlefield and something the Russian do very poorly, it at all.  It looks like a deal is almost done to get them more funding which will make the spring very interesting.

How technically oriented are you? Comfortable with Linux?

I've programmed things for Linux before but I would rather a turnkey solution with a GUI (there could be Linux shareware), that allows seamless backups of our phones, IPads, laptops AND provides access to all our files, pictures and videos via a single networked solution.

  7. Looking for some feedback and solutions of others.

I have a lot of porn....errr personal files and I am looking for a backup solution that is safe and allows for world-wide access.  I am not a big fan of the cloud services...giving big tech all my data is not high on my list and personally I think there will be a large cloud cyber attack in the near future.

I've looked at several home cloud options and have ruled our Western Digital after the big hack and some nefarious nonsense around requiring hard drive replacement every three years.  As of now I am thinking the Synology DS1522+ which I would set up as a Raid 1.  We have a lot of old family pictures and video that I would like to have better access to.  In addition to the Raid 1 I will likely keep a separate direct connect backup of those files in the fire safe.

Well almost, Miami won out over FSU and signed Cam Ward, 2024 is going to be interesting.  The real trail of tears will be in Tuscaloosa...with Saban gone there is no way DeBoer stops that program from sinking back to mediocrity.

Specifics of this hospital stay aside, from the start I'm not a fan of waiving the requirement that flag officers should have been out of uniform for seven years. I didn't like the precedent set by approving a waiver for Mattis (even though liked Mattis, especially in a Trump admin), nor do I like that the traditional was continued when Congress approved a waiver for Austin.

Not a good reply if you don't invoke Trump.  I am not a giant fan of the waiver either but there are good exceptions but IMHO Mattis was a good one.  For those that know Austin it was obvious he was not a good choice for the job or the waiver but he did hit the DEI metrics.

The SECDEF should be a straight-up civilian defense/security executive, not a very recently retired 4-star with all the active duty military political baggage that comes with it. Someone with a background like Kathleen Hicks, the current Deputy Secretary of Defense, should have been tapped for the top spot in the first place rather than a recently retired general or admiral.

Having worked in that office I do not agree with this assessment.  Yes we absolutely need civilian control of the military and that is one of the main drivers for the waiver requirement but some of these "straight-up civilian defense/security executive", are nothing more than academics (usually from left wing Ivy universities), and that presents a separate issue of ignorance.  If these were elected positions I might think differently but I always flash back to Robert McNamara and the horrific damage he did and the American lives lost because of his actions as SECDEF.  Interesting you mention Kathleen Hick, I've worked with her and again I do NOT agree with your assessment.  Having a public affairs grad Mount Holyoke College determine defense policy for the most powerful military in the world is far from optimal.

Also Austin is 70...for fucks sake Boomers, fucking retire already! Hand-build a canoe in your garage and let your grandchildren sleepover for the weekend. GTFO of high office and enjoy the fruits of a lifetime of labor. And I say this to all of you equally  in the 65+ age range. When I am that age, I sure as hell won't be commuting to an office 6am-8pm, busting my hump flying around the world, dealing with Congress & pulling my hair our managing a gigantic organization. Screw that man - that could not possibly sound less appealing.

I hear you...but different personalities and drivers, not everyone is the same.

You and I have both worked with people driven by power, like you I am not in that ilk but I can see how some need that pursuit to keep them going.

I will be curious your view when you get closer to my age.  Growing up poor I am now in my peak earning years which is beyond anything I ever dreamed of as a kid.  It's crazy, my wife and I both drive cars that cost more than our first house.  Also, based on my childhood I will ALWAYS have the irrational fear, I don't have enough.  I've mentioned before that years ago I set three personal numbers.  The first number was absolute minimum to retire...I will easily meet all basic needs and never have to work again.  Second number was great quality of life, freedom to do whatever whenever.  Third number was FU money.  I had first number when I retired from the AF and was fortunate to hit second number years ago thanks to second job and two big investments that paid off.  Oddly my childhood wealth insecurity is colliding with peak earning years and a bonus package from new job.  In round numbers if I work another 14 months there is a big payout.  In essence would you work another 14 months for $100K a month?  It is probably irrational especially knowing my family and my wife's family are both wealthy and will leave us more than we could ever spend, but inheritance was never part of my retirement calculus.  My wife confronted me over the holidays and asked me to retire and I committed to get across the bonus finish line then hang it up while we are both relatively young and have our health.

Can you imagine if an active duty member was not at work, in the hospital for a few days and didn't notify their supervisor/commander.  Yet another double standard by Fat Albert...he was the WRONG choice for so many reasons.  Biden and the elitist Dems don't care, maintain power at all costs.

My apologies, it's slightly offensive when you question a program's culture, which we've had to rebuild from rock bottom due to a previous DEI hire who was smoking weed with the players and out bangin' college chicks instead of leading his team.

You don't understand why a team who went undefeated no longer wants to participate when they were left out in a historic decision? What happened last weekend? The teams with losses, lost. So results on the field matter, but they didn't for Florida State. I don't fault one of those guys who not playing - I think the entire university should have declined the invitation.

The DEI hire was not the issue, it was the damage done by Jimbo who ruined the culture and legacy built by Bobby.  Jimbo built a necrotic culture then ran away in the middle of the night to get paid, not surprising ran A&M into the dirt - oh and he had weed problems of his own three freshmen suspended for smoking weed in the LOCKER ROOM.

I think Norvell has done a great job of rebuilding the FSU program and brand but how you carry yourself through adversity matters and yes it is part of the culture.  I know this is personal to you as an alum, but this has happened to numerous other schools who were either left out of the playoff or worse didn't get enough support when we VOTED on a national champion.  Yes FSU should have boycotted the bowl game, but they made a conscious decision to play (likely a monetary decision), so yes the players should have stepped up.

Opting out of bowl games is a relatively new phenomenon, it certainly didn't happen when I played ball with Jim Thorpe and the Gipper.  I think back to many years of playing this game (2nd grade through college), and there was a recurring them of "team" and "family" instilled by coaches that you hear kids talk about today.  Unfortunately driven by NIL and the NFL many college players don't really believe that and drop their allegiance at the drop of a hat.  Fortunately some kids still get it and I would point to an incident that was captured after the Alabama v Michgan game when everyone stopped watching.  Tyler Booker and J.J. McCarthy played on the same high school football team.  Tyler found JJ and listen to what he said..."I love you baby, go finish the job, I am so happy for you bro"  THAT is culture that matters.

Is that applicable to naked gunner hugs? I’ve only heard about it. Maybe an expert in that kind of thing (*cough* @ClearedHot *cough*) can provide fill-ins.

Naked gunner hugs are a sole product of the MH-53 Pavelow community.  I believe it started in Korea when AFSOC used to keep a detachment of Pavelows in theater.  In my many years on the gunpig I never saw said maneuver attempted by a gunship guy or girl.

Ok... How many ACC Championship's does Miami have? Didn't you start as an ACC team like two decades ago? Have you ever finished what you started since coming to the ACC?

    What in the world?

So if we are gonna play scoreboard, how many Natty's does FSU have?  Miami has finished what they started five times (should have been six except for a pass interference called 6.9 minutes after the play in double overtime against OSU).

My comment about "finishing what you started" was the season, regardless if you win or not.  Your comment seems to define finishing as winning or you have failed, which now I get because it matches the current culture at FSU, instant they are not in the CFP almost 50% of your player quit when the vast majority from UGA decided to finish the season.

Some people say it is a culture problem, I don't see that. I think Mike Norvell has a great culture going on right now at Florida State. Why would players want to play a game that doesn't matter? And then risk getting hurt for no reason at all?

Because you finish what you started...ABSOLUTELY a culture problem.  At the first hint of trouble all the key FSU players ran for the door and themselves...that says something about a team.  Meanwhile the vast majority of UGA's players stayed and PLAYED...one of the reasons they won Nattys back to back...FINISH what you started.

Never trust an 11H general.. what was he doing while the boys were having fun in the 53?

Screaming at his wife.  When another GO tells you about going to his house and hearing him pull his wife into the hallway then scold her loud enough for all the other senior leaders to hear...he is a sociopath lunatic and proof the system is completely broken.

  18. Kirby is smoking crack if he thinks he beat the undefeated FSU team that played this season.  He has a much bigger point to make but he didn't want to take a shot at Mike Norvell.  The vast majority of Georgia's key players elected to play even if declared for the draft, FINISH what you started.  67% of FSU's starting players opted out of the bowl game for the portal or the draft.  That is a SERIOUS culture problem and it starts with the coach.  What is even worse is ESPN campaigned for them to be left out of the CFP but then reversed course and is upset they didn't try in the bowl game.  TV money, the portal and the NIL deal has changed the game...for the worse.

August 31, 2024...whats the bet?  You get here and we can fly down to the game.

At least we can both agree on below....When FSU threatened to not show up at the game, I thought they were kidding.
