Why not? A supportive population, in fact an actively supportive population, is a part of the war machine.

If we start down this road then we have to retroactively denounce Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Tokyo, Dresden, etc... Easy to do when it's not our own brothers and kids being killed on the frontlines. If I have to choose between their civilians and our soldiers in a war they started, it's a pretty easy calculation for me. No country in the history of combat has spent as much energy, money, and blood protecting the civilians of their enemies, not even the US.

War is ugly specifically because if requires the mass death of civilians.

Because we, and by extension, Israel, are better than that.  To defeat Hamas you likely don't have to starve a bunch of kids to death.  War is ugly, Total War is even uglier.  Using your logic why we just green flag Israel to drop a nuke on Rafah and get it over nice, clean and quick.  We were pretty upset after 9/11 but I didn't see us firebombing cities in Afghanistan.  Innocents died, but we at least tried to be measured in our response and we most certainly did not purposely starve a population that was supporting the Taliban.

Hamas started the current fight but I hope you are not so Naive as to think Israel has no dirt on their hands.  I FULLY support Israel and their right to exist.  I do not support Hamas in any way, shape, or form but Israel has also done some shitty things to the Palestinians through the years in the name of "survival".  An actively supportive population is a very shallow argument given the living conditions, most have not choice.  Not an excuse, but certainly a consideration.

  2. Epic karma slap to a clown penis.  While calling inflation stories misinformation he is interrupted by a live report that says inflation is up again.  Also, this "Disinformation Czar" claims prices are DOWN 40% since Biden took over when in fact they are up 39%.

And Iran is threatening a "large, direct strike on Israel proper"...that should calm things down.  Last night Uncle Joe caved to the left and called for a Cease Fire.  Terrible situation, Hamas can not be allowed to survive, but you can't kill hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in the process.

The response from NPR - "NPR's chief news executive, Edith Chapin, wrote in a memo to staff Tuesday afternoon that she and the news leadership team strongly reject Berliner's assessment."

This is the same leadership team that fired Juan Williams for being too conservative for their company, they even went on to call him "psycho."

  5. I’ve Been at NPR for 25 Years. Here’s How We Lost America’s Trust.

A really good article I hope folks will take a moment to read.  I grew up listening to NPR and the author, an admitted Sarah Lawrence–educated, raised by a lesbian peace activist mother, drives a Subaru, and his Spotify says his listening habits are most similar to people in Berkeley - details how the network has failed to report accurately on three major news stories (Russia Collusion report, Hunter Biden Laptop, and The Origins of COVID), because it would have been beneficial to the GOP.  He also describes how the network became activist after the George Floyd killing, making race and identity paramount to everything they did.

Interestingly when he presented his story/argument to his colleagues the answer was "So what."

NPR may receive little direct federal funding, but a good deal of its budget comprises federal funds that flow to it indirectly by federal law and that should end.

  6. Another month another higher than expected inflation report...All that free money...As Biden attempts to buy younger votes with student loan forgiveness, inflation goes up.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.4% over the previous month and 3.5% over the prior year in March, an acceleration from February's 3.2% annual gain.

Anyway, bonds are way up, the 10-year Treasury yield gained as much as 14 basis points on Wednesday morning, touching above 4.5% for the first time in 2024.

Experienced this as well in Europe and Africa...but I realized, they shouldn't be competent at operational planning...that's what military planners are for.  State is supposed to be diplomats.  They're also supposed to have the brains to realize that operational planning (especially in military related activities) should be pushed to the military, because we're pretty damn good at it.  The perennial American diplomatic problem is that when things go beyond diplomacy, our diplomats seem to think they are always the smartest in the room...and they never are.

Department of State has a DUTY to plan a NEO for each and every Country that has an embassy...I understand there were other factors like all the Afghans that helped us, but to have zero plan to start from is a complete failure of leadership that goes directly to the top.

  9. Ex-ESPN host reveals ‘every single question’ in Biden interview was ‘scripted’ by network execs

“It was very much ‘This is what you will ask. This is how you will say it. No follow-ups, no follow-ups. Next,'” Steele told Fox, adding that each question was “gone over dozens of times by many editors and executives.”

“I was told, ‘You will say every word that we write out, you will not deviate from the script,’” she said.

it's so interesting to watch these arguments morph

    - The laptop is fake, suppress it.

    - Biden never met with his son's business partners.

    - Biden met with business partners but didn't discuss business.

    - Those were loans.

    - Everyone who testified Biden was the brand is lying.

    - So what.

This awareness day has been on the same day, March 31st, for 15 years apparently.

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Transgender_Day_of_Visibility.

I for one find it awfully suspicious that Christians can’t even pick a day when Easter is celebrated…it keeps moving around every year! Very shady. 👀

Frankly it’s a slap in the face to all the upstanding secular people in this country who are forced to keep track of this weird, shifty day when maybe the grocery store will be closed.

Jesus Christ, pick a day and stick with it Christians!

    /sarcasm

I supposed banning religious symbols at the White House Easter Egg is a long established tradition as well?

A few days ago Biden made a big deal and released his proclamation and said nothing about Easter until last night when he felt the backlash and was forced to acknowledge a Christian holiday.

All this after he celebrated Transgender Remembrance Day a few days before Thanksgiving.

I for one find it awfully suspicious that Transgenders can’t even pick a single day they celebrated…how many times each year are we forced to celebrate them! Very shady. 👀

Frankly it’s a slap in the face to all the upstanding single gender people in this country who are forced to keep track of these multiple days when maybe the dress/lip stick/high heal stores will be closed.

Jesus Christ, pick a day and stick with it Transgenders!

  12. Wonderful job by Biden trying to take Easter away from all the Christians and rebrand it Transgender Awareness Day of Visibility.  It is a free country, dress how you want, date who you want, be what you want but to purposely hijack a religious holiday with great meaning to many Christians is a direct assault on people of faith by demented Left Wing extremists.  As if to pour a little salt in the wound, the White House has banned Religious-themed designs from the White House Easter egg art contest tomorrow.

Trump selling bibles is stupid, the liberal hate of faith is sickening.

Absolutely hilarious. Greg Abbott should be remembered for the single most effective political stunt in American history

It will be interesting to see if this issue is strong enough to overpower abortion as the deciding factor in the next election.  Right now the polls would indicate it is...I simply don't understand why our liberal friends think this situation is acceptable.

Both sides are terrible but it was the left that started using government agencies (IRS/FBI) and now the courts to go after political opponents.

  15. Yesterday the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing about the withdraw from Afghanistan.  Former Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley and U.S. Central Command retired Gen. Frank McKenzie gave some very damning testimony on the Biden administration.  “The fundamental mistake, the fundamental flaw was the timing of the State Department,” Milley said. “That was too slow and too late.”  Too bad these clowns didn't have the cojones to resign when this was going down.

Also, of the 22 liberal members of the committee, only 9 bothered to show up for the hearing.  Apparently those 13 lives lost at the Abbey Gate don't matter to Democrats.

Finally, it is now being reported in the open, despite "promises" from the Taliban, Al Qaeda is back in business in a BIG way in Afghanistan.  Al Qaeda is now operating training camps in 10 of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces.  Additionally, they are operating five madrasas, a weapons depot and safe houses in Afghanistan that are used to facilitate the movement of its members to and from Iran.
