"Flaming" guys in uniform?
Agreed. Now that's just funny right there. Not really sure how this fits in, perhaps you are a recent grad...

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
ha, yeah, I was scrolling and hit like by accident instead of the scroll bar. Was hoping nobody noticed before it refreshed, but alas.

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
No, not me. I wasn't trying to relate it back to the original topic, just boobs.

There are groups out there arguing just that point actually... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Topfreedom

SCOTUS scraps DOMA
Exactly. without going into the detail that Hoss did, I'll say that if everyone can agree that homosexuality and incest and pedophilia are all part of the human condition, you have to fall back on other standards. There are pedo's who predate on members of both sexes, same with inbreeders. Comparing a heterosexual pedo to an otherwise law-abiding gay dude holds about as much water as comparing a gay pedo to an otherwise law-abiding straight dude. That particular argument isn't really defensible.

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
not sure if sarcasm, but bible thumper. And a serious question- for those arguing against, is the crux of this debate whether you know about someone being gay in the military and having a fundemental issue with the implications of an integrated DOD, regardless of someone's outward mannerisms, or the discomfort of being around over the top, flamboyantly gay people? To ask another way, is it OK for someone to be gay if they are a bro, or a PJ who has x number of saves, or a viper pilot who also happens to be gay and doesn't throw it in anyone's face? Just asking if there is a distinction between the two.

SCOTUS scraps DOMA
Not that it in any way represents a statistically significant sample group, but I think that there are more anecdotal mockeries of the sanctity of marriage than just Brittney Spears... And they proffited in the millions for this. The gays are probably responsible, though. https://en.wikipedia...._Kris_Humphries "Several news outlets surmised that Kardashian's marriage to Humphries was merely a publicity stunt, to promote the Kardashian family's brand and their subsequent television ventures" Disclaimer: NOT representative, merely anecdotal.

Irrespective of one's own beliefs, consider this question- is it possible for someone to accuse someone else of being a bigot without succumbing to the irony of being one? I don't know, but I think its kind of a circular argument (and just as ironic) for two people of apposing viewpoints to accuse each other of being intolerant of the other's stance. I support equal rights and gay rights, but the bottom line is that I shouldn't have to know, nor do I care to know about someone's sexuality. That's their own business and they are entitled to it. I agree with Catbox and K State that acting flamboyantly gay does not present a military image just the same as a morbidly obese dude doesn't. Both are wrong. Keep it professional at work and lewd at the bar, and the Air Force will continue to function as it always has. No big deal.

Unqualified Due to Money
Sure does, you must have ESPN or something...

Unqualified Due to Money
The wing I just PCS'd from was martyring a large percentage of the squadrons this way by creating a "Fly list" of approved crewmembers, in an attempt to prove the unsustainability of sequestration. Brilliant.

Drone Pilots: We Don’t Get No Respect
“Like, this isn’t a videogame,” he said. “This isn’t some sort of fantasy. This is war. People die.” Uhh...what? I guess the recruiter forgot to mention that militaries go to war, and in those wars people tend to die every now and again. What did he think was going to happen? we were going to politely ask the terrorists pretty-please, if its not too much trouble, could you stop bombing us?

Apparently having "good hands" no longer matters....
Sounds like trolling, but... There are some aircraft in the AF that don't have that level of automation. And what happens when George shits the bed? It happens... and then what? Oh well, guess we can't AR tonight, I don't have the hands to make it to contact in marginal VMC on the BLVD, Oh well, I guess I'll just settle for a shitty landing with a collapsed nose gear...In these situations good hands can potentially save the aircraft- bad hands, well, there is potential for the outcome to be worse.

Radio etiquette
I'm with you, good lesson for those that didnt know. The internet doesn't convey sarcasm well, so I guess that was my bad...

Radio etiquette
Yep. "Copy/Roger/Affirmative". It all means the same...

Radio etiquette
I know what you meant and this is splitting hairs, but RO's are 1A-somethings not 13B's

Radio etiquette
Speaking of a four smoking engined shitcan, our radio operators (part of the mission crew) always do radio checks with the command post when they turn on the mission UHF's, and when they are done with the check, EVERY one of them says "thanks for the radio check, Sentry XX out". Uhh, you're welcome? Happy to put down the angry birds for two seconds and say "loud and clear"? It sounds so stupid to me and I just don't get it...

Herk hard landing - Afghanistan
130's aren't my airframe either, but there was a burnt up E-3 sitting on the ramp at Nellis for about 2 years that testifies to the need to flare... at least in a 707 type. Same in the Wacker, don't ever recall doing a coupled approach in the jet, or even seen one done...

Tornado in OKC
The 552 is 100% accounted for, no major injuries or loss of life for personnel or family members. Some people lost their homes, but that's the extent of it, thankfully.

C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
Sounds about right. "Well sir, our MESL says you're good to go, if you don't take this jet it'll be an Ops cancel..."
-
C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
I'm really not trying to derail this thread into a Tinker discussion, but things are obviously very different now than when you left, both as far as SOF is concerned, and the wing in general. Let's just leave it at that.
-
C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
Well you both hit on the original point. SOF was always a "nice to have", not a "need to have" in AWACS, now its been dumbed down to such an extent that essentially it is only a comm relay to let the ADO's know their SQ's takeoff and land times. WX divert? complex systems EP? They are calling in the Stan/Eval chief pilot or FE.
-
C2 Question - SOFs and Command Post
It's worse than that. ABM's are now getting SOF qualified, thus plunging both SOFs and AWACS even deeper into the murky depths of irrelevancy.
