SRO (Senior Ranking Officer) at UPT
Don't worry about this stuff now man, it's really not that big of a deal and there will be time to figure it out when you get there. Your change over class and others will show you the ropes. Snacko is by far the most important/tasking duty but still no big deal. As said above, all studs are snackos, so help your assigned Snacko out when they need it. Otherwise, the additional duties/queep is fairly minimal, so don't worry about it now. Also, a website for digital drop box would be www.dropbox.com and for group messages, an app called groupme. Those two are basically standard for most classes and work well. As far as assigning additional duties, let people pick, it'll work itself out.

Upcoming Boards
Those two waiting on B course slots are still in T-38's though, so not like people are sitting around doing nothing waiting on dates.

^^^ A few of the dudes they hired in 2012 haven't even started UPT yet.

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
You guys realize that you get reimbursed for almost the entire cost of the mess dress, right? I think the only thing I didn't get reimbursed for were the medals. There is some form your finance office should have for the reimbursement.

Track Selects and Assignment Nights
ENJJPT 14-04, pretty sweet: F-22 F-15C F-15E x 2 F-16 x 9 (2 Guard) A-10 B-1 CV-22 Eurofighter Tornado x 2 T-38A (F-22 follow on) T-38 FAIP x 3 B-52 x 2

Customs and courtesies
I haven't noticed really any bullshit being on the ENJJPT side of the house here at Sheppard (other than the std queepy stuff). Maybe we are just sheltered from everything since we are physically pretty well separated from the rest of the base...

IFS (Initial Flight Screening) information
From my perspective as a non IFS guy with a PPL when I started UPT, there is literally no difference between the dudes who went and those who didn't. Seriously, none. Nobody even speaks of it. I'm sure it helps (or not) for those who have never flown though.

Water Survival information
Other than probably getting his ass chewed, I think he just stayed down there for the remainder of that week, thru the weekend, and started again on Monday. Tough, I know. That's just what some of the people who were hanging out with him told us.

Water Survival information
Guy in my class @ Pensacola was puking all morning on the second day and they booted him from the class. We drank hard, slept little, and had a blast down there. Didn't hurt that it was the middle of July either...

UTA Reschedules
Maybe they are imposing restrictions so they can plan/control their budget more accurately? Not necessarily costing any more or less but just more stable for future planning?

Not going to UPT...will I get kicked out?
I was enlisted active duty, got in the guard after my enlistment was up and went to college, then worked the 9-5 while staying in the guard. I loved my job, had great pay/benefits/flexibility (sts), wife had a great job, loved where we lived, etc.. I'm now in UPT and the only thing I miss was the free time. Some days flying sucks for whatever reason, some days are awesome, but most days are pretty cool. However, every Friday when the beer light goes on and sleeves get pushed up, I'm reminded of how awesome this opportunity is.

Required
I know people who do it and guess what? The videos are pretty boring, especially in the T-6. Just not worth the risk.

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
Cool. Sounds like your class had a vastly different experience than my class. Being yelled at or not, I don't like looking like a dumbass in front of people for not knowing simple shit they told me to know and even gave me a book about. YMMV.

AMS (Academy of Military Science) Questions
OTSMAN tells you how to do everything you need to know, such as how to get in the chow hall for meals. It also tells you what you can/cannot do during certain phases of training. Know it. HAWK is bullshit info they give you as a distraction. Know as much of it as you have time for, definitely should be the very lowest on your priority list.

UPT/ENJJPT Start Dates
8 classes a year at ENJJPT, typically one starts every 6 weeks. If you do not want to fly a fighter, I wouldn't apply to ENJJPT, which sounds obvious. However, some people get here and halfway through decide they want heavies. Don't think the leadership likes that much but it worked out for the recent grad class. Not sure on the timing. Heard all FY14 dates are full, so if you apply in October, you may be looking at a full year regardless of which base you go to.

Just turned 29 and looking at my options
I'll chime in with limited experience. Personally, I haven't seen anyone get hired after turning 29. Also, I only know one person who went from hire to UPT in less than a year (11 months and some days). With that being said, give it everything you've got for the next year. If it doesn't work out, you can at least live without regret or "what ifs?" and move on to the next chapter of your life. Also, I believe the age limit for Army Helo pilots is a little higher, which could be pretty sweet!

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
People are uncomfortable with anything they are not familar with. Now that doesn't mean he is a homo phobe, just that he was exposed to something he hadn't been before and found the situation uncomfortable. The OP's execution of describing the situation to paint the big gay picture wasn't the best tactic though...

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
Maybe.

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
I'm not concerned about it personally, just wondered what everyones thoughts were on the subject. Also, there used to be a lot more to lose (or at least that was the claim) if you were open about it, not the case anymore. Multiple situations where I can see this becoming an issue (not that it should but it sets the environment for one). Keep in mind, this applies all the way across DoD. Lots of young, enlisted troops may not handle it well (and I can say that because I was once a young enlisted troop), might be some religous issues, etc..

"Flaming" guys in uniform?
Here is another serious question: How do you work out the logistics of where they sleep/shower on deployments and tdys?
