Bush 41 supported the troops, Obama does not.- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
As usual, the Duffleblog delivers! Obama Takes ‘Selfie’ At Fallen Soldier’s Funeral But the sad reality is that Obama would never attend a fallen soldier's funeral. (OK, before Vertigo and/or nsplayr jump in, I know he did once back in 2009; but I suspect that was more for the photo op than anything else. Since then he has proven he really doesn't give a shit about the military...)- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Probably more appropriate in the thread, and I have to admit I am a bit leary as to what you are asking here. Best you post up your question in that thread and see if you can get an answer there instead of relying on PMs which may or may not provide the right answer. I can move this thread over there once you've seen this reply. As a matter of fact, I will do so once you do as unless this has to do with personal firearms/weapons on base, this is not the right place for this question.- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
Not when he's representing this country, as he was at that funeral. He can "be himself" while on vacation or golfing (which he tends to do both a lot), the American people expect more dignity and decorum from their President, which is why there is such a shit storm brewing over his antics. He of all people should know his actions would be under scrutiny during this funeral, it's as bad as Bill Clinton caught on laughing and joking around after Ron Brown's funeral, then putting on an act once he realizes he's on camera! Sorry, disagree. It only demonstrates that his only focus is on himself, even when others are suppose to be the center of attention.- WTF? (**NSFW**)

And proof that Mandela was a racist...- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
Obama did not direct that the flags be flown at half staff for Thatcher. It was one of yet many poor decisions made by his administration. Great Britain has been one of our stauchest allies for all of the Twentieth Century, and we probably didn't have any greater relations with the Brits than what we experienced between Reagan and Thatcher. The fact that he failed to attend her funeral or honor her in any way has not gone unnoticed by many of my friends in the UK. How Mandela rates this distinction while Thatcher did not escapes me. It was a conscience decision on the part of the Obama Administration to recognize one and not the other, but for what reasons I cannot fathom...- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
OK, time to add some levity to this thread...- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
OK, it was Buddy Spike; but I was trying to help you out as your side isn't doing too well... And you should have mentioned the Iron Lady, but I guess since you probably weren't even born yet you have no memory of her awesomeness!- US flags at half-mast for Nelson Mandela--thoughts?
Masshole's point about Thatcher and the fact that the flag wasn't being flown at half staff to recognize Pearl Harbor are probably the two more disgusting points about this discussion. I am no fan of Mandela's and I don't think his passing warrants the US flag being flown at half staff only because other more deserving individuals didn't get that honor. It was a clear political move by our President and I know that is a cue for Vertigo and nsplayr to join the conversation in 3, 2, 1...- Gun Talk
Picked up a FEG AMD-65 this morning from a gun shop up near Waco. It was a six-hour round trip but it was well worth it! That's just a Russian sling I threw on it as I hate not having one on my rifles, I don't have the correct one for an AMD so that'll give me something to look for at the next gun show! Once I've got one on it, into the Gulf of Mexico she goes! Cheers! M2- WTF? (**NSFW**)

Saw this on the AK Files, it's a new site started as a hobby by a couple of programmers who are paying for the servers/hosting/etc. entirely out of their own pocket. There is not a single ad or even a donate button on the site, they're providing it as a free tool for other gun enthusiasts... https://www.gunwatcher.com/ Cheers! I'll have to check into that, I wonder what proof they need to match a price...- Gun Talk
Stopped by Randolph's gun counter this morning, it's nice to see another BX with firearms but honestly I have yet to see any decent prices at any of them. The Springfield Range Officer they had is about a hundred bucks more than what I've seen everywhere else, an a magazine for a Sig Mosquito was fifty bucks. No thanks! I also stopped by the Liberty Gun Show at the Live Oak Civic Center and can tell you it's not worth the time either. It's about 300 tables and over half are accessories or non-firearms-related items. Plenty of knives if you're interested, but not as many actual guns. If you're in the SA area the best gun show is the Premier Original San Antonio Gun Show at the Freeman Expo Hall next to the AT&T Center. The only problem is it's only every other month or so, but there's about a 1000 tables so it's definitely worth going to! We've also got the SAXET Gun Show the first weekend of every month over at the SA Event Center (Marbach and 410) which has about 800 tables. It's not quite as good as Premier, but we still go on a regular basis. Cheers! M2
