I just logged on for the first time today, and so far everything is operating as expected... Actually, correction, I did check in around 0430L as I do every morning via my HTC Hero. I've not encountered a single problem doing so in the past two weeks... Cheers! M2

Nice! I'm not a big fan of the sidefolders; but it is true to the AK-103. Good snag at that price! Cheers! M2
  3. No. Geez, if childhood pranks like this disqualified people from flying, there wouldn't be many people left in the Air Force! Hell, one of my first supervisors when I was enlisted had two DWIs, and was still in (this being the early 1980s). That said, there was a dumbass in my AFROTC det that got kicked out for stealing Christmas trees; but he was an adult, in AFROTC and drunk at the time, and ATC (now AETC) was and still is pretty strict about such things. The rule of thumb for most everything is just be honest and accept the consequences, but in the case it is doubtful there will be any. Cheers! M2
  4. Wow, cool CGI re-enactment! And yes, I realize it's not the right jet!

-9- Tons of good AK web sites out there, here are a few... Warrior Talk The AK Forum AK-47 on XD Talk GunCo The AK Files So plenty of places to do research. In a nutshell, you can start out with a Romanian WASR-10 for around $350-399 but most of those require work to get functioning well. They'll shoot as-is, but they won't be great shooters. After that you can pick up a Chinese Norinco, a Yugo which will be heavier and more sturdy due to the thicker receiver (for between $400-500, or all the way up to an Arsenal-built Russian Legion shop custom such as the SGL20 I picked up in July for $645. After that you get into the pure custom build world (e.g. Jim Fuller's) at whatever you can afford. I would steer clear of the WASRs; and unless you are going to hump it around a lot, a Yugo underfold would be a good starting point. Just be careful of anything built by Century, especially if ordering online; as they are famous for canted front sights. AKs have the earned reputation of working under any condition, and you can abuse them and they'll still run like a top; but it still pays to keep 'em clean and oiled. Hope that helps! Oh, and you still should've snagged one of those Mosins! They are a blast to shoot! Think Enemy At The Gate! Cheers! M2
  6. The typical "I'm not fired, I quit!" response! I suspect gay porn is in his future. Vertigo, let us know when that happens!
  7. Holy shit, is this turning into an art discussion?!?

For a hexed Mosin 91/30, that's a good price. The forced-matching numbers is not an issue, but it is better if the bolt matches the receiver... The accessories are the standard you get with Mosins. For more info, hit 7.62x54.net I've got quite a few Mosins, I prefer the carbines (M44, M38, etc) but the rifles have so much history behind them that it's easy to get a bad case of "Mosinitis!" Plus, they're a fucking blast to shoot! Cheers! M2 Addendum: OK, I just saw in the SOG flier that they have hexed M91/30s for $79; but once you add in hand-select ($10), shipping ($15-20) and any FFL transfer fees (unless you have an 03 FFL), I still think you are will do better in the long run buying it where you can look through and select one at the pawn shop.
  9. WTF? (***NSFW*** due to language, I think!) Cheers! M2
  10. C'mon guys, play nice. And just to note, I'd much rather look at capt4fans' avatar than Rainman's! Cheers! M2
  11. One to add, since it wasn't specifically noted in the above... No Porn/Nudity Allowed! BaseOps has made it clear that there will be no pornographic material posted on the site, and there are several good reasons for so; but mainly it is because many people access BaseOps from government computers and while we may already be pushing the limits with the 'NSFW' content, actual porn will clearly cause problems. As such, it is for our own safety that we impose this restriction. For guidance on what is allowable, see the Please contact the mods if there are any questions.
  12. Or, a good way to get back at some asshole journalist is to tell the locals that he/she is really working for the CIA... Just kidding, of course!
  13. I know there are some dumbfucks in New York City, but this is truly a WTF moment! So some attention whore starts performing for all the world to see, and what red-blooded American male wouldn't whip out his camera and start videotaping it? Horny Videographer Ruins NYC Photo Shoot But check out the fucking geniuses that intervene. First is the old woman who needs to go back to scrapbooking and raising her cats. Then some macho bicycle messenger who, if it was Neil Patrick Harris spreading 'em in the middle of Times Square, I'm sure this earring-wearing, soul-patched fruit would be drooling all over it! If this tart wants privacy then she needs to move the show inside...preferably someplace with a pole!

I still have several thousand rounds of .45 ACP that I stockpiled prior to the Obama ammo scare... I'm pretty tight on 7.62x39 as well. But like I always say, you can never be too rich, too smart, too good-looking or have enough ammo! Cheers! M2 p.s. I cleaned the shit out of the GSG-5 earlier, and picked up 300 rounds of CCI Mini Mag ammo which is suppose to be the best for this carbine. I think this should reduce the problems I have been having, but it will probably be another week or so before I get to shoot it again as there is another gun show next weekend!
  16. Doesn't matter, you tried it and if you are caught lying about it, you're done. Don't worry too much about it, unless you are stoned when you are filling out the paperwork, many before you have "experimented" with marijuana while minors and have gone to have long and distinguished careers (no names to protect the guilty!). Cheers! M2 p.s. Well done for searching and posting in the correct thread!
  17. Very much so, and the simple fact that you even asked may be an admittance under DADT! Personally, I'd rather be the 90-year-old science fiction writer that could comply with her request!

    New Uniforms

    Yep.
  20. Use the image tags surrounding the URL, such as... [ I M G ] https://www.photobucket.com/image.jpg [ / I M G ] Without the spaces in the tags (I had to use them to keep the software running the forum from thinking I was posting a pic). Of you could click on the photograph icon above the posting area, and simply input the URL there. Either way will result in the picture inserted in the post... And anyone else posting in this thread without including a nice pair (as show above) will be appropriately reprimanded! Cheers! M2
  21. One of the better videos of that crash. It starts about 1:08, and is recapped in slo-mo at 1:38... Cheers! M2

    New Uniforms

In other words, ABUs were designed for folks who sit in offices. Even the Army is moving away from ACUs in theater, now they are issued the new MultiCam uniforms... "The decision to field and develop an alternative camouflage for uniforms in Afghanistan came out of the realization that the Army's current Universal Camouflage Pattern, or UCP, did not meet all of the concealment needs for Afghanistan's multiple regions."* I don't know why the AF doesn't pull its cranium out its ass and just adopt the ACU/MultiCam and put our own patches on it. Some already wear them in theater, this need to have our own "unique" "battle" uniform is just costing the troops a lot of money and embarrassment! But at least it's not as bad as the new Navy Vietnamese special forces uniforms! Sheer brilliance! Design a "camouflage" uniform with bright silver and gold insignia sewn on it! Cheers! M2
  23. Well, the flip side to those kinds of stories is this... Marine gets hero's welcome from thousands in Jacksonville Tyler Southern celebrates 21st birthday with family, and old and new friends More pictures from the above stories I grew up in Jacksonville, a redneck Navy town in NE Florida, after my Dad retired from the Army. I joined the USAF after high school to get away from the place, and honestly have never any desire to move back there; but I have to say I am quite proud of its residents for everything they did for Cpl. Tyler Southern! This doesn't diminish the embarrassment that occurred at Reagan National, the airline should have the authority to remove passengers to make room for such an emergency. Well, that should never have to happen in the first place; but there are still too many Americans that don’t give a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves, or appreciate the sacrifices of others! And if the airline doesn’t want the job of removing people from its planes in such circumstances, I am sure there are many of us who are willing to do it for them! Cheers! M2

We took the GSG-5 out (twice) over the weekend, on Saturday morning we just had too many failures which turned out to be dirty magazines; so I took them apart and went out shooting again Sunday morning. Reliability increased but is still not as good as I want it, so there's more work to be done; but it is a blast to shoot this little .22 carbine and over 200 rounds cost me about $10! And accuracy isn't too bad, considering the barrel is only 16¼" long and the .22 is not known for staying on path in heavy crosswinds. At 25 yards both my son and I were able to keep the groupings within 3-4" with the folding stock and from a standing position. Not sniper accuracy by no means, but figuring it is just so much fun blasting through ammo that it's no huge concern. Overall, despite the FTFs/FTEs the GSG-5 is still a great little shooter! The ammo is dirt cheap, there's little recoil if any, it's fairly accurate within reasonable distances and that damn thing is just awesome looking! I got the top rail and the buffer pad installed on Saturday, as well as the sling I ordered in the mail just for shits & giggles. Once I get a chance to work on it a little more, and fix the feeding/ejecting issues, it's probably going to be one of my most-used rifles for the range! Cheers! M2
