  1. I've decided not to waste the time/gas to go back over to the other side of SA, and ordered some from Nametags4U instead... Cheers! M2

WTF? Watched a pretty funny movie the other nice, titled Roll Bounce, about a bunch of black kids roller skating during the late 1970s. In it was an old disco song called 'Get Off' by a band called Foxy that I remember from "back in the day." It was a great dance tune back when everyone wore polyester, not just those wearing the Air Force service dress. So, my 13-yr-old son asked me more about it, so I looked it up on YouTube and holy shit, it's a bunch of white dudes!! I swear I always thought it was sung by black chicks, it sure as hell sounds like it and back in those days we didn't have MTV (hell, we didn't even have cable television!) so radio was the only time we heard the tune. The dude on the far right should sue Sacha Baron Cohen for stealing the Borat character from him! I bet these guys are celebrating the overturning of DADT! Fucking hell... Cheers! M2

Reasonable, it is why the vast majority of my handguns are in .45 or 9mm. Yep, that's how I am with my .455 Webley Mk VI, .38S&W Webley Mk IV, my two .357s, my .38 Special and my two M1895 revolvers. I just keep a handful of ammo on tap for each of them in case I ever feel like shooting them. For some reason I've always had an interest in Russian/Warsaw Pact firearms, and as you know I am a big history buff. It's much easier collecting Commie milsurp than US, cheaper too! Speaking of history, there's a factory engraved one-of-a-kind 100th Anniversary Colt 1911 on GunBroker.com... As a very special bonus, the high bidder will be invited to visit the Colt Factory in Hartford, Connecticut on March 29, 2011-the official 100th Anniversary of the U.S. Army's approval of the 1911 as the U.S. Army sidearm. Winner will be given a private tour of the factory, will have lunch with Colt Management, receive a package of special Colt logo items and collectibles and will have photos taken with the Colt engravers. During this visit, the high bidder will visit the Colt Historical Department and will be presented with an official document authenticated his Colt as the one and only 100th Anniversary 1911 featured as the 2011 SHOT Show gun and featuring the historic 1911COLT2011 Serial number. And to top off this special package, the high bidder will have the opportunity to have his or her initials engraved on spare mainspring housing as a keepsake or to have installed on their 1911. Currently it's sitting at $50,000 with only just over 27 days left, so hurry up and get your bids in!! Cheers! M2

I agree completely, and some comments have been removed. This thread is to mourn a lost brother and his wife, keep it on topic or there will be hell to pay. If you have problems with that, feel free to discuss it with me via a PM.

Brick Good write up, and I too typically subscribe to "simplified ammo logistics" when acquiring firearms. The main reasons I dumped my .380 was due to the lack of availability and high cost of ammo, but the fact that it was the only gun I had in that caliber made the decision much easier. Of course, it was also a piece of shit Kel-Tec; and .380 is now easier to find (heck, our local Walmart has it in stock); but there was nothing about the round that would draw me back to it unless of course, I find a good deal on a Taurus PT738! That said, "9mm Kurz" basically means "9mmm short" in German. I prefer the "normal" 9mm Luger myself, and in fact traded the P3AT I had for a Taurus PT111 and later acquired a single-stack PT709 Slim. Both have been great pistols, and ammo is cheap and plentiful. Of course, I also own a couple of Russian Nagant M1895 revolvers that use the really odd 7.62x38R round in which the bullet itself is contained within the shell casing. You can use a .32S&W Long in it, but it can be risky. Cheers! M2

WTF? Will Farrell plays David Bowie? John C. Reilly as Bing Crosby? First, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hyvf7E-trac...for those of you who may not be aware of the David Bowie/Bing Crosby collaboration. Then, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiOwX5G7OpY, because someone thought it was funny... Personally, I think it warrants a big 'WTF?!?' OK, maybe it's a little funny at the end, but still...
  8. Shit, there was about a dozen Asian women in there who barely spoke English; I had a momentary flashback before I remembered where I was! I think I was getting the brush-off, to be honest, the scraggly hair and beard may have caused them to think that way. I'll stop by there again whenever I find myself on that side of town, which isn't that often.
  9. Went by Jean's Embroidery outside of Randolph last Friday to see if they had any mini Texas flag patches. Was told not only did they not have any, but also that they couldn't make any until the new year. WTF? Won't be rushing back there anytime soon to put in an order...

Well, add another AK to the herd! I picked up the Khyber Pass clone today along with four Russian bakelite mags for $825... Merry Christmas to me! Cheers! M2

It's just money and cheap advertising, MotoGP is losing a lot of sponsors and hers has some it wants to spend flashing her new perfume or whatever the fuck she's selling. It sucks, but if it keeps the sport alive then so be it...

Agreed, his comment threw me off; but even Paris Hilton having a 125 MotoGP team is mind-boggling! This comment really made me laugh... Still, it's cool, as Michael Jordan owns Michael Jordan Motorsports, which fields teams in the AMA American Superbike series for riders Roger Lee Hayden (Nicky's brother) and Ben Bostrom, so it's not unheard of! Plus, did she buy some tits, or is what little she have stuffed to high heaven? Dude on the right is gettin' an eyeful! Cheers! M2

Naw, I didn't see it; but thanks for the recommendation. I saw where it fell a little short of its expected weekend goal ($47.3M made, hoping for over $50M); but I don't think this is the best time for movies. Still, I want to see it in the theater; and will probably do so next week. I am lucky that I bought the 2-DVD 20th Anniversary box set about a year ago, they are going for $180 new and at least $75 used! Cheers! M2

    Anyone seen TRON: Legacy yet?

T-bonez They've gone down to $850 but I am still waiting on actual info regarding the receiver, who built it, how many rounds, etc. before I trek up to north Austin to check it out. I also sent another message to the guy with the 10/63 to see if he's willing to negotiate. I told him I was looking to buy the Khyber Pass one, maybe that'll get his cranium separated from his anal orifice! Cheers! M2

I know this thread is almost a hundred pages long, but there is a lot of good 1911 info contained within it so I would advise going through it first before asking general questions... That said, I have four Springfield 1911s and recommend them; but if this is intended to be a range/carry pistol then I agree with OC in that a polymer semi-auto such as the XD-45 would be a better first choice. They are more reliable and easier to maintain, lighter and have almost double the capacity (13+1 versus 7+1). You can always add a 1911 to the armory down the road... Cheers! M2

  18. KIO, guys, if you want to discuss crosswind procedures or airline hiring policies, start another thread. This one was is to recognize Lowe's heroic actions, and the ongoing debate on the circumstances that led up to the incident are distracting from the recognition he deserves! Keep on topic, please. Thanks! M2

Fack! I am having the worse luck lately! First, I had a great deal on a Navy Arms SKS Sharpshooter for only $225 out in Seguin, but suddenly the seller had another buyer looking at it and it was sold out from under me. Then, I had a line on a Taurus PT738 up in Dallas that the guy only wanted $200 for, but he was hesitant to ship it. I sent him instructions and a copy of my bud's 01 FFL, but someone offered him more money locally and he sold it. Lastly, the guy with the Romy 10/63 is completely ignoring my offer of $450 (which is still probably too high), and doesn't even give me the courtesy of a 'fuck you' reply! There is this nice looking Khyber Pass AK clone with a triangular folding stock and sweet Russian Red furniture up north of Austin... It includes four orange bakelite magazines and a Krebs enhanced safety which allows you to manipulate the safety with your right index finger. The dude wants $900 for it, which isn't a bad deal but more than what I want to spend on an AK right now... Shit, at this rate I'm gonna have to spend my money on Christmas presents! Cheers! M2

It's Texas, by law there will be a Grand Jury investigation and he will almost certainly be awarded a 'no bill;' meaning no charges will be filed. I can't recall an incident where a law-abiding citizen defended themselves with lethal force and were charged because of it. We don't put up with that kind of shit down here! God bless Texas! Cheers! T-bonez Yeah, I know the reputation WASRs have; but I also know a few guys who have had 'em that were good shooters. I may just be enthralled by the Draco, or just any AK in general (they are my latest infatuation); but I thought it would be nice to have one in the collection. I especially like the sidefolder stock, and I have an extra set of handguards I could throw on it as I am not a big fan of the DD forward grip. Also, there is a lot of debate as to whether the 10/63s are any better than the standard WASR 10. Some say yes, others no; and there isn't even consensus as to whether the front trunnion is an improvement. All I know is that it caught my eye, and offered $450 contingent on inspecting the rifle; but I haven't heard back so the entire discussion may be moot; but I have no expectations of it being anywhere close to my Saiga or any of my Yugos, maybe just similar to the Draco. I am not interested in a standard WASR 10, I see 'em at the gun shows all the time and even at under $400 I am not compelled to pick one up; but the real Bulgarian sidefolder (worth about $60, not including installation) and not that crappy TAPCO on, does appeal to me and if the seller ever gets back to me I still may try to talk him down a little further. If he bites, I most likely will snag it... Cheers! M2
