Brick I agree, that's a work of art. Do you mind sharing what you had to go through to find one, and how much it cost? Cheers! M2
  4. Yes, but the government only pays to your home of record. Anything beyond that, even overseas, is on your dime. https://www.military.com/money/content/pcs-dity-move/types-of-moves.html

  8. Holy shit, Simoncelli was a well-liked and rising star in the MotoGP world! At 24, his was a life cut short. What a sad loss for his family and the Gresini-Honda team! RIP, #58!

Skip the .22, while I know that round can be as lethal as any other projectile; I am still a firm believer that there are better options out there. Forget the revolvers aren't great concealed carry weapons especially for women. I know they are simpler and easier to resolve a misfire, but I think a woman who carries should carry a semi-auto and know the correct procedure to clear it if required. It's not that tough to rack a slide, I wouldn't make that an issue. Instead, check out either a decent .380 (Ruger LCP or Taurus TCP, I prefer the latter) or a small-framed 9mm like the Taurus PT709 Slim. Or, if she's willing to try it, have her shoot a full-sized 9mm or even a .45 ACP. My wife recently shot a bunch of my pistols and ended up liking the XD-45 the best (well, after the TEC-9, which is a blast to shoot but makes for a horrible carry weapon!). By the way, I agree with you on purse-carry; I don't like the idea but the wife is equally against carrying a pistol on her person. It's been an on-going debate between us and I have yet to convince her I am right (as usual). Anyhow, best to try and get her to shoot several pistols and see what she prefers. Many ranges will rent them, or find some buds and see if they're willing to make a day of it at the range if you buy ammo and lunch! Cheers! M2
  10. Had a couple of Bare Ass Blondes at DuClaw Brewing Company this evening, not bad at all. I would've had a Serum XX IPA, but I gotta fly out tomorrow... Cheers! M2
  11. Rick I think you meant to direct your comments to ClearedHot, not to be confused with the name of your digital magazine; "Gray Beard" is just a forum status for someone who has been on here for a while. Otherwise, let's not repeat the mistakes of the past. While we appreciate your offer of complimentary subscriptions to your new digital rotorhead publication, if things go sour once again I will not hesitate to pull the plug on this entire effort and your account. Not trying to scare you or anything, but we've been down this road before and I will not allow the same crap to happen twice. I'm sure you understand. Cheers! M2

Well, I did grab that TEC-9 a few months back (OK, 5 months ago!) and finally got a chance to take it out to the range. Honestly, it was a blast to shoot! With two magazines (60+ rounds), we had two malfunctions, one FTF and one FTE (a stovepipe). Both were early on in the first magazine, and the FTE was when my wife was shooting it (she was apprehensive at first, but loved shooting it!). For how cheap I got it, I'll keep it. I'd never use it as a self-defense weapon but it's such fun to shoot and so ghetto that there's no reason to get rid of it. I'm very happy... Cheers! M2

CH, if you really want a nice AR; drop me a line. I know a custom builder here in SA who will hook you up without tearing off an arm and a leg... Cheers! M2
  18. OK, since a few of you don't seem to be paying attention; this is specifically directed towards the recent reporting on a certain system being vulnerable to intercept. This is the final warning, do NOT start another thread on this subject! Several have been closed already, I removed them due to OPSEC concerns. This forum is NOT the place where a vulnerability such as this needs to be discussed, even if it's being reported by certain elements of the media! If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me; otherwise I do not want to see any more threads started on this subject. Thanks! M2
  19. And yet another reminder to NOT post any sensitive/critical information even if it is unclassified and/or published in the media! Examples of which include, but are not limited to: Specific details on current and future operations Travel itineraries, especially those of senior officials Operational planning information Personal identification information (PII) Any security procedures Specific capabilities, limitations or vulnerabilities (to include degradation of systems or equipment) That is a generic list but if there is any question or doubt over whether some information should be posted, then don't post it! Feel free to contact me with any questions, I'd rather you be proactive in addressing the issue than my having to be reactive and cleaning up the mess afterward; because after I am done my next target will be you! Cheers! M2

  21. "Patriot?" Maybe as a football player; but as an officer in the USN he falls far short of that title... What is really happening is that he's whining about his ADSC despite his free education courtesy the USNA! I hope FNG Kettani gets handed a big bowl of shit when he gets to the USS Klakring. He knew what the conditions were when he went to Annapolis, now he's crying because someone is holding him accountable. And BRAVO ZULU to the Navy for making him serve his commitment!

  24. A knee-jerk reaction by lawmakers back in the 1950s, that's all. The same reason we can't own fully-automatic firearms without going through an assload of bureaucracy via the ATF. But it seems odd that I can own a semi-automatic version of the most lethal weapon in the world (the AK-47) but I can't carry a small switchblade knife... It's just as odd that the state of Texas allows me to carry a concealed pistol with 14 rounds of .45ACP in it; but not a switchblade! Even worse, I live in Texas where--of all places--a Bowie knife is illegal to carry! It all reminds me of DHS officer I met once, who was authorized to carry a firearm aboard commercial aircraft. He told us one day his bag was searched and TSA found a cigar-cutter in it. He was told he could not take it on the plane. He reminded them that he was armed, and the TSA agent replied that he had authorization to carry the pistol, but not the cigar-cutter! Cheers! M2 p.s. Actually, switchblades are NOT illegal in every state. See here.
