  1. Just got an opportunity to go on a tail swap tomorrow. Question is, have you ever gone on one without a passport? The deployment manger in our squadron took my civilian one to make a military one. My fingers are crossed my new military and civilian passport are sitting in their office.
  2. There was up to $2300 if I sacrificed going up to 3.8% I didn't think it was worth it. My house was only $154k I'm guessing that's why they only offered me that amount of lender credit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Another satisfied customer of NBOKC. Worked with Mary Bennett who was amazing to work with. There was no delays on NOBKC's part of the deal, working with the VA is what took the longest. Locked in a rate of 3.625 on a fixed 30 year.
  4. Out of curiosity is the Army offering you a commissioned officer position or warrant?
  5. They don't send people to IFS who have their PPL anymore.
  6. If you read through these forums one of the previous CSO's gives a solid breakdown of the flying and the simming phases. CSO training is about to experience a change in how they've been doing things the last few years. The big aspect changing is students will now drop earlier prior to graduation. This is done so the last month of training can be spent preparing you for your future career instead of SIMS that don't necessarily help you. On the chopping block for sims that ALL students have to take is ES (Electronic Warfare Support) and AI (Air Interdiction). Students will be seperated into different training syllabi based on their future airframe. For example, students whose career will be as a navigator will do Advanced Navigation. Students who track EWO will study Electronic Warfare, guys/gals who will go to AFSOC will get experience doing sims operating sensors. F-15 studs will have the opportunity to get some rides in the T-6 doing formation flying. I haven't been in Pensacola for a few months now, so any new CSO's can correct me if I'm not 100% correct.
  7. After completing UCT and IFS I can tell you that IFT/IFS is a mock setup of how challenging UPT/UCT/RPT training will be. I'm glad I went through IFS, it was an eye opener to how a undergraduate flying program works. My fellow compadres who had their PPL had a rude awakening when they were stood up at attention in front of their peers to do a stand up EP (emergency procedure). They also didnt wake up at 0330 to get ready for a 0430 brief and fly at the crack of dawn. IFS/IFT will most likely suck, like it does for most people. Look at your endeavor as something that will help prepare you for your future training. P.S. stay away from the ice cream machine unless you wanna pack on a few pounds while your there, also volleyball is the best stress reliever. I highly recommend playing with your buddies when you can.
  8. The pilot washouts that were given the opportunity to go to CSO school had a academic average of 90 or greater. That was a factor that needed to be met to apply. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. You are correct that you will be living in a dorm and you will forego your BAH if you are single. The only way out of that is two options, 1. Get married. 2. You become a small percentage of people who get lucky. By lucky I mean that when you arrive if the BOQ is 95% full or higher then you have the option of getting BAH. This can only be found out when you report in, calling STUCON to see what the situation is won't really help either. The vacancy of the BOQ changes wildly since new classes start/graduate every three weeks. I promise you that nobody in Pensacola will be able to get you out of this. I know several seasoned guardsman/reservists who tried talking to their units and talking to Pensacola leadership. They chose to marry their fiance's on paper to get out of it. Unfortunately it's gonna be up to you to figure out what you wanna do with your current house, you can rent it out, sell it, or be super broke paying your mortgage. Best of luck.
  10. Until the last few years that high of a percentage would not be a shocker. ROTC goes through ebbs and flows just like big blue does.

  16. Not in the guard but I know several of them here at Pensacola. There will for sure be a PCS to Pensacola, I'm not so sure about Little Rock, there is plenty of NAVs here that would know. I'm assuming you are going to be C-130 Nav. BTW, if your not married you will have to live in the BOQ (Bachelor Officer Quarters). I have several buddies who got married early just so they could live off base. Also, nobody here calls it UNT anymore it is called CSO training. (Jack of many, Master of none) As far as getting a training date quicker, that should be your unit doing that for you.
  17. 25-30 min drive is doable. She definitely cares more about being safe and in a good neighborhood.
  18. Tried the search function and there is only info for Creech. My wife just received orders to Nellis AFB. They've only given us a week notice before she needs to hit the road. We are trying to find her an apartment that is in a good neighborhood not too far from base. She is not into gambling or drinking so being close to the night life or near the strip is important to her(I on the other hand can't wait to visit!) . Any recommendations on cities/areas/apartment complexes we should check out?

  20. On the topic of B-52's. I have a handful of questions that I couldn't find on the other threads. 1. In terms of deployments, I've gathered that Guam is the place to go and that I could expect a 4 month deployment. What is the deployment like as far as living standards, do you cook for yourselves or eat at a chow hall? What kind of sleeping quarters are there? 2. I met a Lt Col R/N who had been out of the cockpit for a handful of years tell me, "The BUFF hasn't seen combat since the Mid 2000s (don't recall which year he said specifically)" Is this true? I know the BUFF is used as a show of force, has it not dropped bombs on bad guys in years? 3. I am aware that not many countries want a nuclear capable aircraft landing on their Tarmac, with the exception of England are there any other countries the plane flies to for training/TDY? 4. I'm one of the few guys interested in the BUFF in my class right now. What would you tell a young buck like myself in regards to the Pros & Cons of entering this career field as a Navigator/Radar Nav?
