Kind of. The answer I got from Direct TV is if I move to Clovis, NM (god forbid), and they can provide service to that area (ie, mx, repair, etc), then I have to keep the contract.

I had a USCG IP during Phase I at the rock.

I gave it to Jessica Beil in the back of a T-28.

I flew AT-28Ds in both airshows and formation (not formation acro, though) prior to UPT. A lot of the learning points brought up by the FAA guys for my formation card were echo'd in UPT. It helped out a lot. Good luck. The T-28 is a great airplane.

Jeez, I know what is a disturbing trend... the fact that you think people with pen flaps on is a disturbing trend. Before I read your post I thought you were going to talk about the recent helo shootdowns or the possibility of al-Qeada backed by Iranian money but here we are talking about pen flaps.

Getting held up in the adjudication process can be for a variety of reasons (some sounding pretty silly): Bounced checks, excessive speeding tickets, drunk in public, etc. I had at least one of the above issues and the process took (from interview to great success) about 11 months. And for what it's worth, the judge involved in the adjudication never kicked back my application, even with the above violations.

I've got the USAA Aggressive Growth fund. The growth hasn't been too aggressive at 4% YTD but hopefully things will change.

Maybe. I enjoyed instructing PT61 guys since it afforded me some extra flexibility. I could sit and bs with them about recent incidents/accidents and I wasn't constricted by a Part 141 syllabus. I liked to ask them what they'd do in a situation (without them knowing what accident I was talking about). It seemed to drive home the point about decision making in the airplane--something I think a typical Pt141 program glosses over.

In addition to AMC wearing the flag, AFSOC wears it as well (unless you're a WIC dude). And if I remember correctly, so does the Navy and Marines.

On a completely different note. Some old heads I've spoken with have expressed some regret over not logging their military flights in a civilian log for sentimental value. While I couldn't justify writing "Took T-37 out to MOA, busted top of area and plinked the jet in the runway on my full stop", I imagine the real world stuff might be a worthwhile entry; stuff that I can reflect upon when I'm retired and living on my private island in the Caribbean.

It's amazing what passes for comedy these days.

When I was at Corpus, TS Rita was flaring up and I was able to grab some renters insurance just in case. I ended up insuring about 25k worth of stuff and it worked out to be about 10/mo. In all honesty, I wish I had the insurance earlier when I took my cell phone with me for a drunken swim in the intercoastal; such debauchery would've been covered by the policy!

Not sure if you're still reading after all the bickering, but the washing airplanes/lineman/airport bum deal is actually not all that bad. Ok, sure, it probably wont even cover the hourly rate for instruction but as you talk to the owners of the planes you get opportunities thrown your way. Business trips, ferry flights, airshows, etc always come up and if you're available and not annoying you'll most likely get those offered to you. If washing planes isn't your thing, as previously mentioned, taking out a loan isn't a bad deal so long as you don't lose focus.
