  1. That's what we are getting, also it looks like all patches including pen tabs are going to be standardized. ETA: On a positive note,I have seen a few people around base wearing Friday shirts, even thought there hasn't been any official word.
  2. Thread bump: So how is this playing out at your respective bases?

Since you mentioned homeschooling, the metro line is now extending out to Tyson's corner. The Western Fairfax and Loudoun county area have a very large population of homeschoolers with tons of groups, sports leagues ect.

I don't think he has any idea what he's referring too, I've always wanted a ghost gun too.
  5. I don't think anyone is saying CGOs always know better, however, sometimes they do. Thankfully my commander actually solicits the opinions and suggestions of their junior officers for solutions to problems. Also echo chambers and group think among leadership isn't helpful in solutions either so maybe that guy that new Lt who's only qualification is having 20/20 vision might hold an idea. The leader that doesn't listen to his subordinates because he has more experience is probably a "legend in his own mind", history has proved time and again that age and experience isn't the key to being a great leader or having good ideas.

Anything beyond one cent or one person no way. This is how every conflict we have ever been in since WWII started, sending people to train, then fight, then we are there for another decade.
  8. Because its not our generals place to provide unsolicited opinions to the general public on what our civilian oversight does. If congress or the president asks them to provide their insight then they can go for it, otherwise openly criticizing isnt how things are supposed to be done.
  9. The AF managed to function for decades with morale patches, tabs, and friday shirts, till someone decided to make it a big deal. I don't know about you but the pictures of AF pilots that I remember from growing up were people like chuck yeager and the like in his friday shirt and scarf with morale and pen tab patches, not the pictures of guys in the CBTs with ever zipper and patch absolutely perfect (C-17 guys know what I'm talking about). How about treat us like adults, give us guidelines and deal with those that do stupid things on an individual basis. Personal suggestions, given todays climate nothing overtly sexual like the playboy silhoutte and nothing with actual cuss words (spelled out not acronyms like NKAWTG, FNG ect.), other than that wear whatever you darn well feel like.
  10. Marines In Afghanistan Hold Memorial Service For Their Porn Stash ***NSFW*** https://www.duffelblog.com/2014/01/marines-afghanistan-hold-memorial-service-porn-stash/#ixzz2qskeSZ59
  11. Of course only those in a protected class can get charges for breaking the rules retroactively removed, not those of us that benefit from "white privilege" (DoD course material not my words).

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/2014-01-19/obama-says-racial-animus-may-soften-support-new-yorker-reports.html So he's been president for 5 years and just now in the last two years people have figured out he's black and his approval rating is starting to slip because of that? Some people just can't take a hint.

Pretty much summed up my thoughts when I was reading the article.
  14. https://www.navytimes.com/article/20140117/NEWS/301170009?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter "The Pentagon is considering sending U.S. troops back to the Middle East to help train Iraqi forces, defense officials said Friday."
  15. Damn that was good, with every article he writes I lament what a good leader the AF lost.
  16. Dude really? This isn't a ROTC or SOS class, I'm pretty sure most of the people on here are intimately familiar with this having just finished up the holidays which a good majority probably did not spend with our families.
  17. I'm not sure thats what people are hoping for...
  18. 13-130 and its matrix were on MyPers, I guess they've taken it down now that they don't know what they are doing.
  19. Sorry FG my post was semi-sarcastic, in response to not asking with the hope that they'll continue to get payed. I appreciate the explanation about how they are all linked (and the warning).
  20. The comments section of the article says it all.
  21. Considering the "unofficial" shit looked pretty much like the "official" shit for 13-130, and MyPers has been lagging behind significantly with info, I wouldn't discount what he says.
  22. No I didn't, just the title, my bad.
  23. Can someone explain to me how a 3 star can retire as a 2 star?
  24. Your ROEs say its ok to bomb mecial facility and your are order to bomb one. Your IG doesn't do anything when you report it and so you refuse becuase of LOAC. Congrats you just disobeyed a "lawful" order, and should be charged with deriliction of duty. Applied to peacetime the law (ROEs) says its ok to do something but you know its unconstitutional (LOAC) and therefore illegal, your whistleblower system is a failure. What do you do? It is our duty as citizens to expose illegal activity; you say "well then anyone can do it", and yes you are right but that's why we are supposed to have an politically independent judicial system, not a AG that bids the will of the President that appointed them. The system is to judge the persons actions and determine if the activity they exposed was truely illegal. By your reasoning you carve out a special exemption that forces people to become accomplices to illegal activity because it is "classified". Congrats you are now damned if you do and damned if you don't, becuase "we are a nation of laws" and you failed to report activity becuase you weren't allowed to so; you are a criminal either way.
