  1. Indeed. . and even if you DID have controls, you could only log the time you were the sole manipulator of those controls and you were certificated in category, class, and type (if applicable) for that aircraft.
  2. Saw a replay of it tonight on AFN at Rota, and holy sh*t, what an excellent film. Incredibly emotional.

    DUAT

The TACC website has the entire book for CFP for every aircraft. Its a link to software manufacturers. Then you can get the book there. PM me if you have any issues. . I've got a copy on my thumbdrive.
  4. Huggy, We're being told that if we're selected for the U2 now, we can expect to stay in some type of UAS to follow and for the rest of our career basically. Can you please squash that if its not true. That should get the ball rolling. I know I have it on my ADP right now, and my CC knows too. Thought i might try to get a single day OST down there if the leadership bites off on it.
  5. According to Sun Tzu, it is the MOST honorable way to win, putting ZERO of your own men and MINIMAL of your own resources at risk. effing SOS
  6. Close, but i think there's actually a trackball on the forward part of what I like to call the "teet" of the A380. It has a point and click system for selecting some of the main pages. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A380
  7. yes. . patience is key here. My damn ground eval was 8.5 hours at the Indy FSDO when I did mine in 2001. The flying didn't even happen till the next damn day! Checkrides through FSDO are a pain in the ass. It seems the Examiners there (only from my experience howeve) don't seem to feel completing the Practical Test Standards are "enough" of a checkride. As recommended earlier, get the Gleim books for the knowledge exams. They really aren't cosmic. And tell that flight school that said dude needed 40 hours they need to be fired. There's a table in the Private Pilot PTS that clearly states the requirements for certificate add ons.
  8. Spoken out of the pure IGNORANCE that is normally associated with fellas talkin about the Navy program. 99% have no clue what they're talkin about.
  9. Indeed its true! Had the O-6 at my GRACC class explain it to us not 1 month ago. Big Brother is in your cockpit! Here's the link that anyone can access from a .mil computer: https://tacc.scott.af.mil/?action=FUEL_EFF Happy Bitching!
  10. Ahh, spoken out of the pure ignorance that plagues so many of the other squadrons on an AF Base. I love that my ALERT sequence is Half a normal duty day for the "Financeers". . . Join a crew on a mission and see what that extra 2 hours waiting at billeting really means.
  11. all this LDS talk ONLY makes me think about the South Park where they discussed and reviewed the Joseph Smith story: "Dum dum dum dum dum dum dum" HAHAHA. . Time for another bourbon
  12. you only need a chute if you're going to be carrying passengers. Solo operators can fly all day naked. Now, whether that's smart, if if the insurance company will allow it is a different story. However, some small acro aircaft just can't handle a seat pack or a backpack style chute.
  13. i've only flown a straight J3 about 50 hours, but i had the opportunity to teach a student some gentleman's aerobatics in his newly built clipped wing cub. Granted, they ARE over priced, but my opinion is that a properly tuned cub is one of the purest feeling flying machines of the many i've flown. and to the OP. Just remember, REAL airplanes have 4 wings a wheel under the tail!
  14. I'm a HUGE fan of the Pappy Van Winkle 20 year. But have also recently tried the Buleit and was pleasently surprised. Woodford reserve is pretty nice. And of course i'm a Makers Mark Ambassador. If you posted in this thread, and are not an ambassador, you should be: Ambassadors
  15. C17 is right. I just got back from a trip, and probably won't be able to go back out for another 6 weeks or so. Kinda sucks. Oh, and if you're single, just live in seattle. I'm kinda disappointed i got my place in Federal Way, as I'm up in Seattle about 4 nights a week. I should have just gotten a place up there. Ah well, live and learn. You'll love it here btw. I've only met 1 person in my time here that hasn't loved it.
  16. I skipped all but 3 instrument phase rides. Our VT required a flight with the skipper or XO to do it, but from then on it was smooth sailin. Those that talk shit abou the Navy training are USUALLY the ones that have NEVER been. I say to them, "Talk all the crap you want, it was the best year of my life". Come on. On the beach 4 days a week. The AF can take Vance and shove it.
  17. all directly from the DOD Per Diem, Travel and Transportation Allowance Committee : BAH for Zip code 95903, O-3, no dependents: $1224 COLA for Zip Code 95903, O-3, 4 years, no dependents: Cola Index is 1%, $29 a month. So as I add it up. . expect $1253 a month after BAH and COLA.
  18. one of my good buddies in my class did it. Lived with his brother out there. . didn't have a problem with it. . but made those 0445 shows really suck. . BUT, he went fishing everyday too!
  19. Hacker is spot on. This "ski" technique is tought extensively in the bush flying community to get their planes on tight sandbars and debris free areas. After a little practice, its really not a HUGE deal. . Granted, the bush pilots are doing this usually comming on or going off of the shoreline. . so no deep water. .
  20. so if you are TDY Enroute, are you paid the TDY mileage rate to your TDY location AND the PCS mileage between your outprocessing and inprocessing stations? This will be a major factor in my trip from Vance to McCHord with Combast Survival being "TDY enroute".
  21. BRING IT!! Dude, i have my R6 at Vance with me. I got a small house off base and keep it on the stands in the garage. Its easy on the wallet. . relieves stress. . hell yea. . i'd bring it. I know others in the dorms at Vance put them under the bike shelters and also cover. We have 1 other guy in my flight that didn't bring his with him. . and wished he had. .
  22. Lets See. . what were they. . Governor's Gate, Kings Mill, etc. All up on the NE side. . pretty much badass. . mix of kids in Training and girls going to UWF. I want to go back. . bad. . Enid is killing me. [ 06. September 2005, 19:28: Message edited by: ellsworb ]
  23. i'll be there. Just to see the damn video. It better be good. Will it compare to Lt. Napoleon?
  24. When I thought I might have heard it all. . WX instroduces me to the ultimate douche bag.
