  1. I think instructors must be instrument rated in the category for which the applicant is pursuing. So add that on.
  2. I keep 2 logbooks. Electronic for individual flights and a hard copy where I put in Monthly block entries. If something were to happen (at least in the FAA's mind), you would only recover those hours listed on your 8710, unless you had proof.
  3. from April-Dec last year, my W-2 was just shy of 45K. That was with 3 months as a SSgt at OTS then 2LT pay. But also includes all the extra cash from moving, DITY, and my TDY to Brooks. I went straight to PCola from OTS for UPT. It's easily done. At Vance now, didn't even get the CHOICE to live in the dorms. They had the hardship letter waiting for me.
  4. That's what I'm saying TK. Call me a failure. I'm gonna need another beer.
  5. y'all rule. Had no idea that NIMA was in charge of it. I first looked on the Baseops homepage. . Guess I overlooked it. Ah well, I'll get the next round.
  6. yea, sorry y'all. . General Planning book from the FLIP program.

    GP

Anyone know where I can find a copy of the GP online? More importantly, just need Ch. 4 to print and take with me on the road this weekend. Thanks.
  8. Isn't the 100% TA up to $250/credit hour? So if I wanted to take an online course at Purdue University ($750/hour) i would come up with $500 of it. Hmm. . .
  9. haha. . yea. . good times. . good luck at OTS bro. It's a good time. Pack golf clubs, and play the east course, it was my favorite.
  10. My sr. year of college my roomate and I found an old fridge on the side of the road. . we figured we could use it for SOMETHING! He had a tap in his room, and i may or may not have helped myself to a LAB size CO2 tank from the Bio Lab. $20 later with some beer tube we were livin LARGE! Charge $3 for someone to come grab a cup and you'll have endless beer funds.
  11. I think that there are even some YOUNGER CO's on ships than O-5's. On some of hte smaller vessel's with smaller crews, there can be an O-3 or O-4 in command. Happens REGULARLY in the Coast Guard.
  12. Actually, slipping during a Xwind is NOT flying coordinated. There are 2 types of slips. Forward slips and side slips. The forward slip is what is used to lose altitude quickly, but still fly in a straight line. The side slip, however, is used to keep the longitudinal axis of the aircraft aligned with the runway. However, the amount of aileron used is directly proportional to the amount of Xwind experienced. The wings could be level or the upwind wing could be slightly down. In any case, this is NOT coordinated flight. I have no idea how it affects jets, because i'm in the T34 right now and we use slips like crazy and all my previous time is in tailwheels.
  13. I am just curious if ANYONE has heard of a Flyer getting a Civilian Institution slot from AFIT at any point in their career. Trying to put together some facts to take with me and see how far I can get. If you know of anyone that has gotten the 18 months off to go do this, PLEASE let me know!!! I want the Air Force as a career so I don't know why it would be a big deal, as I would continue flying afterward???? Can anyone offer anything. Thanks
  14. Screw the regionals man. Pay waaaaaaaaay too little for what you do. Or maybe I'm just bitter? Ah well, guess I had a bad experience. [ 23. January 2005, 19:18: Message edited by: lookintofly ]
  15. the RV4 is a tandem (front and back) The RV6 is the side by side. Pretty sweet and simple airplanes. . But seems like everyone in the EAA has one. . get somethin with style. . real airplanes have 4 wings. . not 2.
  16. Absolutely, without a doubt, a Steen Skybolt. Make sure you get one with a Canopy (or convertible which is a lot of fun). The 300+HP Models really kick you in the nuts. Also, if you like "building" or "altering" square the wing tips. Additionally, if you want the whole building experience, bird of choice is the Pitts Model 12. (www.2wings.com). Check it out. M-14P Radial, Bi Plane, Aero, Pretty decent legs, and the cockpit is way bigger than an S2S or Eagle. Have fun!
  17. AHHAHAHAHA. . i think its arguable that WMU does NOT have better women than some of the other schools mentioned. Based on the "Girls of the Big 10" issue of Playboy (Oct '03), I thought Purdue had a better showing of girls. Although I was intrigued by that Illini that was wearing the parachute with pierced nipples.
  18. Dude, Go to Purdue.. its a REAL school, with REAL sports teams, and plenty of girls. And you get to fly too.
  19. I live at Davis Highway and I-10.. its between 25-40 min. commute depending on when I get through traffic to get up to Whiting. There's a lot up here in terms of stores and what not. If i say anything. . its that there isn't really much up in Milton. But some of the guys really appreciate the quietness to study. . it just wasn't for me.
