  1. Think this is what you meant.
  2. Interesting note on my Dec LES: COMBAT ZONE LV CARRYOVER BAL = 93.50 EXPIRES 30 SEP 2016 Thought I had to request SLA to carry it three years beyond my deployment. Anyone know if there is a limit on the amount of terminal leave you can take? Leave reg doesn't specify one.
  3. Don't believe this. With few exceptions, your leadership will take care of your leadership to the max extent possible. You need to take care of you to the max extent possible. For your old commanders, if you can find them in Outlook then the numbers attached to their Outlook profile will be for their secretary or exec, so you don't have to worry about cold calling them.
  4. Fact. However, listing all of your dependents as transfers prior to separation/retirement will make it easier to move your months around after separation/retirement. I understand it's something of an ass pain to add additional dependents after you've left the service, but it can be done.
  5. Not sure about separations, but a MSgt I worked with that had signed up for post-9/11 transfer got them to waive the ADSC so he could retire at 20. They revoked the transfer benefits, of course, but he was OK with that. He was one of the guys who got jammed by commitment into an extra year of service because of the way they implemented the transfer ADSC for guys that would be retirement eligible within 4 years of transferring benefits.
  6. Unrealistic expectation for someone that is still in a FTU or not MR yet. Focus needs to be on more important things. I would bet if you were in similar circumstances at that point in your career, you would be oblivious to how your records met the board as well. As for supervisors, if we get rid of every AF supervisor that fails to look out for their subordinates' best interests, we would be a lean force indeed. Additionally, most first level supervisors cannot even access their subordinates' records. The responsibility falls on the SQ/CC, most of whom I'm sure are cursing this ludicrous process and are, apparently, unable to afford it the attention it demands.
  7. What would really help here is some more info on the protagonist. What are his motivations? His history? Is he struggling against an external conflict, an internal conflict or, dare I hope, both. Is the effort to launch this C-130 from a short strip an allegory for the struggle of man to free himself from the shackles of oppression? Tell me more, I'm hooked!
  8. You're ######ed. There, that straight and to the point enough for you? Seriously, just don't fail. It won't be good. I highly recommend pressing that little button every 5 seconds or so - that should do the trick.
  9. For anyone in OK/N.TX check out Coppermark bank. 4% on a no fee checking account up to $25K. Need to have a direct deposit into the account and make 16 debit transactions/month to qualify for the rate. Pretty kickass return, though.
  10. I don't know diddly squat about the captain board, but any reason why they can't do a draft OPR and push the info to a PRF like they do for other boards?
  11. This could put a whole new spin on wine tasting events. "Now just clench, jump up and down, and release. Did you get the floral notes?"
  12. Copy, thanks. For some reason I was under the impression that traditional TSP earnings from CTZE contributions could be withdrawn tax free as well.
  13. So am I mistaken in thinking that, when deployed to a CTZE area, there is no appreciable difference between Roth and traditional TSP contributions (neither are taxed going in or coming out)?
  14. 2. I read this and I'm thinking "so what?"
  15. Good to 20. In the past dudes were continued past 20, but I don't see that happening anymore.
  16. The downside will be the now-inevitable "rebuilding" process after we quickly destroy their military. A new surge of 365 day adviser jobs and the opportunity to be shot in the back by a goat-######ing traitor.
  17. Correctomundo. Especially applicable to KACC (angry controller, anyone? love listening to that guy rip apart the Thais and Malaysians) when they try to pretend they're your clearance authority despite the fact you are VFR/tactical.
  18. God, so sick of this crap. If the only leg you have to stand on is the fact you were born with a cooze, do everyone a favor and stay home. If, on the other hand, you have something to offer aside from that, then I suggest you make that your focus.
  19. No, the fallacy is that there are any "best and brightest" UPT graduates. They are all equally clueless.
  20. Pretty sure that gal didn't get "raped". Sexual assault covers a wide spectrum of activities.
  21. While I agree with all of the "airmanship falling to the wayside" comments, I seriously doubt working on a Master's degree or performing additional duties contributed to this particular incident. Landing at the right airport falls into the putting the gear down or making sure the wings are attached before you take off category - either you do it or you don't. No training required, really. The SIB will probably be a human factors bonanza, but I'd be surprised if a lack of training/proficiency was causal here.
