  1. No one has ever looked back over a career and said "I sure wish I had worked a bit more" ... But there are plenty of broken families in the wake of 20 years.

Do what's best for the family ... But don't burn bridges if you can avoid it. And don't completely write off your promotion chances ....

  2. Rather detailed, perhaps unanswerable question-

Does anyone know if Nellis/Creech have Navy Reserve Intel Officers and their own SCIF(latter not that important)? I am trying to figure out where I will have to drill from. Will suck to have to drive/fly to Denver and/or Sandy eggo. Thanks.

We have some navy EXCHANGE types (intel and otherwise) and many wonderful vaults

  3. There's a bunch of houses south of Aliante which are a lot cheaper in rent but the same security/size, just less flashy/green neighborhoods. The fees to live there are like $15 a month, Aliantes are pretty drastic which digs into the rent as well as the "glamor" of living in the newest part of town.

I'd recommend renting a single home and not going the apartment route. It's a great deal and you can pick up a roomate later.

Nellis is the tacitcal hub of the Air Force man. All the fighters fly here, and the exercises are awesome. Hope you like it!

Talking to the local cops, south of aliante is fine until you get to Ann Road. Ann Road and south is where the vast majority of North Las Vegas Police responses are.

(talk to some cops when you show up anywhere)

  4. Thread re-direct...has anyone here had any experience with HAP? The Army Corps of Engineers program that will pay you 90% of your home loss if you had to sell due to a PCS? We qualify but I'm trying to see how long it takes for the gov't to process the paperwork and issue a payment.

    Thanks!!

I've done HAP successfully. What little pain there is in regards to paperwork and timelines is well worth the free money and preservation of your credit score.

It's a significant chunk of free money.

    DO IT.

  5. I agree with you 100%. However, that doesn't excuse the well-intentioned, law-abiding, gun-carrying citizen from the repercussions of errant bullets shot from their weapon.

Please don't confuse "legal" with "right." I am fully responsible for every bullet that departs my weapon. If I end up on the wrong side of a criminal or civil judgement after doing the right thing with a weapon then I'll go to jail

or the poor house with my cranium high and a clear

    conscience.

    Same goes for the jet

  6. I have a stainless 1911 so o don't worry about sweating all over it (in Phoenix and Vegas no less). I will strongly second the need for a GOOD GUN belt. Google the beltman in NC

  7. A small, thin gun (1911) in an iwb holster. Works for shorts and a Tshirt for me. Also realize 90%+ of the population wouldn't notice if you were open carrying on your hip, so don't sweat it too much.

  8. I just did that exact gig in Egypt. With very few travel restrictions inside the country and a populace that generally and genuinely like americans it was TOLERABLE. Those conditions don't exist in Iraq, so this type of assignment, while possibly professionally satisfying (maybe), would be miserable. Toro ... any comment?

  9. We experienced yet another care of pure buffoonery there that was the last straw. Go to the Bullethole at your own risk, but my fat self won't be seen there again.

Can you expand? I thought that joint was a little sketchy too, but I chalked it up to cold, rainy, late winter evening.
