  1. Actually flight pay is backed up to your class start date, it just might not hit your LES until roughly the start of phase II. As for the "dual BAH" that you are talking about, a buddy in my flight who is a guard guy mentioned this. He said that if you have a home that you don't want to sell, there is some reg out there that states if you can prove you are still paying a mortgage back at home, and get PCS orders for training, that also have you returning home, you can somehow collect dual BAH..... I didn't bother looking into it any further because you have to hack it out with your unit plus I don't have a second home payment so it didn't apply to me...
  2. Shoulda gone to IFS with me....as soon as we hit the flight line all the navs were talking about how "they were glad they weren`t pilots" and a bunch of other garbage.........they thought being a nav was the best thing since sliced bread and were happy us "poor pilot" candidates had to fly the plane.......
  3. Standard answer: it depends...... Im at IFS right now. For me its been helpful so far. I feel the intro to the AF way of flying vs GA was a good wake up. I cant answer as to whether or not it will help you at UPT because i obviously haven't been there yet. Take it for what its worth but my buddy who just finished up T38s and is now at his follow on said the only useful thing from ifs was how to kind of do stand ups... I would listen to what others said, if you can skip it, do it. The IPs make it explicitely clear that thisis a screening program.....why risk it? Beyond that, the IPs really do want you to succeed and will go the extra mile to make that happen as long as you put forth the effort.
  4. Thanks for the info! I called Hunt last week and they said 60 days out I can send in my application. I am just barely outside my 60 day window so I will send my stuff to them as soon as I can. My training RIP already came down for UPT so I should have orders soon which is what Hunt requires you have before putting you on the wait list. Blues on Monday - Weak.........but I expected that from an AETC base
  5. O. P. R. Another gem from the article: "we are creating a position that will serve as a director of all communications. This office will be the overseer of the considerable com-munication network plan we hope to debut in the next couple of months. Some positions we plan to put under this umbrella are Editor of the Quarterly Newsletter, YouTube Channel Director, and Facebook and Twitter Publisher. Sorry brah! Can't help ya right now, I gotta upload the newest CGOC Youtube video and then tweet about it!
  6. Thanks for the input. I have already reserved lodging at the TLF for 30 days so we will have a roof over our head either way. I will re-read the reporting instructions on Laughlin's website and anywhere else I can dig official info up to see if I can find the 10 day reference. I haven't read that students must show up 10 days prior...thats good to know
  7. I'll be PCSing with family in tow to Laughlin in March. I was wondering, in the reserves, do you get the 10 days to house hunt/move in, etc like you do active duty? Do you need to request that time or do they tack that time onto the front of the orders automatically for a PCS? My plan was to take the alloted 4 days to drive out there and then hopefully use the 10 days to get into our base housing/receive our shipped goods prior to UPT start.
  8. Somebody has their panties in a wad: "You can't have it both ways lady, it's either obscene or it isn't. Just because it was your grandpa's porn doesn't make it any less degrading to women. You are a hypocrite and this proves you don't deserve a command."
  9. Now why didn't we think of that.......that will definitely fix the problem!
  10. AND.....not 30 minutes after our "all call" telling us of the upcoming cubicle sweep..we make the news : http://www.daytondai...-on-smut/nTPdk/
  11. AND....the fun has made its way into the program offices here at WP...
  12. So he/she is/was a dude, who apparently still likes chicks because he/she is living with one and now he/she gets to shower with a bunch of college coeds (albeit ugly ones)..... Also, there is no ######ing way this would fly with an NCAA Div I team....I know this is a bit of an extreme but as this becomes more and more accpetable what happens if a coach gets a stacked team because an all-star male goes transgender? How is that fair in the spirit of competition?
  13. I'll get the email from my buddy tomorrow (he's out today).......... The original came from Gen Wolfenbarger's exec and was sent out to the respective commanders/directors here at WP.....
  14. Any dudes who went thru the 90's draw down want to chime in? Was military pay/benefits/retirement put under the microscope back then as much as it seems to be now?
  15. AFMC confirmed at 1730 Friday afternoon no blues on Monday
  16. I've already taken the courses...I've been in the AF (reserve to AD back to reserve again) since 2003 so I've had the "pleasure" of dealing with the AF's view on riders for a while now.......I was just curious how AETC, and more specifically, how the current crop of leadership at Laughlin viewed studs bringing/having motorcycles...... I just didn't want to be viewed as "that guy" who has prior experience and arrives thinking he can skirt the AETC/local rules because he has already been in for a while.....
  17. Not looking to be special so if that's how it will be viewed by leadership I'll leave it at home...... Does AETC have you do their own special riding course, etc above and beyond what the AF requires? Damn, been in for a while now so I know the ridiculousness the "normal AF" motorcycle safety program is but I can't think of MORE crap they could throw at riders without pretty much saying, "Don't ride a motorcycle"...... Copy
  18. Cool thanks...just wanted to make sure there wasn't a local/AETC policy that I was unaware of... That was my concern with the road conditions. I have a 2007 Yamaha Road Star Warrior so not an SS by any means but the bike is designed to have some fun in the twisties.....
  19. I'm debating whether its worth it to bring my motorcycle down to Laughlin. With the assumption that I will only have to time ride it to the squadron and/or on the weekends, are the roads decent enough to justify hauling it out there? With how demanding UPT is, how balls hot it is 90% of yr, and the fact that I will have my wife and 4 month old coming, I can't see having enough time to make it worth it. If I don't bring it, I'll give it to my dad to ride/maintain so it isn't a big deal if I leave it for a year........ Secondly, is it frowned upon by leadership/AETC to have a motorcycle while in UPT? I'm not looking to make any unnecessary waves so if its officially banned or there is an "unofficial" ban on studs riding bikes, it would be nice to know ahead of time before I full DITY it out there.....
  20. My SPO has been mentioning a 10% cut across all programs, not salaries.
  21. We spoke to each other plenty and joked to decompress however none of that required us to be naked, singing, etc......You sure you weren't accidently put in the band flight?
  22. Nope.....none of that happened. We were scared shitless of our TI and our sister flight's TI. Our TI was some dude out of PA who was told your either A. joining the Air Force or B. going to jail and our sister flights TI was a PJ who blew out his knee so he was doing a TI gig until his knee could heal back up... Maybe it was just our flight I dunno but I don't remember hearing any stories like that coming from other flights once we got to tech school either......
  23. I went to BMT in December 2003...we didn't do any dumb sh*t that would have remotely resembled a flash mob dance or dressing up in costumes and eating pizza........ The only day that was centered around "fun" was a competition day. It involved sprints, pushups, tug-o-war (which the TI's took seriously and was brutal on your legs), etc. Again, no ass-grabbing dance dance revolution shennanigans..... I thought the ROTC field training was a joke (still is) but even there we didn't dance and we didn't get pizza until the night before going home....
  24. Its not 5%...I thought the same thing until recently being picked up for a GS position.... It takes 5% investment on the employee to hit the max 4% matching. The first 3% is matched dollar for dollar. The last 2% is matched at .5% each....
