Can anyone talk to how this until will be manned? Are all the current and qualified Keesler guys moving with the jets? What about the guys from Pope who attended JMATS, are they moving that direction? Any 913th or former 403rd/440th guys that are moving know when hiring of active duty current and qualified J-model pilots will begin?

Hey Folks - I've read through the majority of threads/posts on this topic; but I couldn't find any specific answers. Question: I work at a squadron that works 4 10hr days/week (Mondays off). I'm transitioning from an AGR job to a GS-13 Technician Job. As a technician, I'm going to attempt to maximize my pay when sitting alert by doing that on the weekends, so should I consider Mondays for all intents and purposes a weekend day? Any other tips/advice other Techs can offer for maximizing my yearly gross income and minimizing my taxable? After running the numbers, it looks like I'm going to be just about matching my AGR take-home pay (13-year Capt, 8 yrs DSG e…

I was recently hired back into the guard, had a 4 year break in service but decided to get back in to finish out my time since I had 10 years on active duty. I have not sworn in yet, in the process of getting back in. I let my civilian employer know that I would be returning to the guard part time (4 days a month) and now they posted my job online trying to fill immediately. I have not been let go, yet.. Since I am not in the guard yet do I have any protection against being fired? Here is an excerpt from USERRA, which covers future service (note 3): USERRA is a federal law intended to ensure that persons who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, Reserves, National …

Baseops Warriors, Search function did not yield what I was looking for. Part of my exit strategy involves joining a Guard/Reserve unit in New England. My first choice is the 157th. I can get out in Oct 2018. Looking for any info on the potential for a non-135 guy (B-1/T-38) to get picked up with them. I understand that they are first to get the KC-46 and I don't know if that would help or hurt my chances. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Cheers, Planephlyer

Dumb question, but I've gone through vPC-GR and not had much luck finding a straightforward answer. I'm an IMA with no service committments, what would be the process for separating from the ready reserve? When I left active duty I just filled out the form on vMPF self service actions and that was that. Is it this same for reservists? Any limitations for advance notice to separate? For active duty, if I remember correctly, it was no less than 6 months and no more than 12 to establish a separation date. Any other gotchas you all have seen? Thanks much!

Hello all, this is a non aviation question; I hope that's Ok. I am 37 and am considering joining the ANG / Reserves. In HS I completed 4 years of AFJROTC and in College 2 years of AFROTC. (I had a couple of poor grades prior to field training) I elected at that point to take some time off. I didn't think it would be 15+ years... So My 37th bday was in December and I had the thought that If I am to do this It needs to be now. So far I have dropped 15LB, and I have about another 10 left. All of the recruiters tell me there is no way to get an age waiver to join as an officer, is this true? I have friends that are prior and they all say that it is possibl…

Folks - what's the general outlook on legacy Herk units in the Guard & Reserves? I'm exploring Palace Chase/Front options in the near-term and trying to gauge viability for 12Ms in anticipation of the FY16 Force Management Programs. I'll be sitting at 16 yrs active next summer and would need to crosstrain from 12B. PM or direct reply greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Has anyone seen the July 15 or so memo from NGB that states all pilots applying for ART / tech can be hired at GS13 even if they aren't IP's? It's true and works. I can attest. I had a buddy in California who told his state level that and they balked at him. So I passed on the memo and they quickly stuffed their collective foots in their mouths. It was sent out in summer 2015. And my buddies' state level hadn't heard about in in Jan 16. Glad I saved that email. I thought if they hadn't seen it maybe other units hadn't. I haven't looked at it lately but I don't think their is an expiration however it seemed like a retention thing which by definition means it will go away…

So I'm running into a bit of an issue at work. I'm a GS employee for USAF (not an ART) and I'm now being told that if I want to do reserve work and not use Mil Leave (LM) then I have to either burn Annual Leave or go on LWOP (Civilian). I've been coding my leave time as KG - Military Furlough because that is the only other military code besides LM in the ATAAPS system and the only code that will then utilize LWOP-US. Primary reason I am concerned is if I use LWOP vs LWOP-US (aka Military LWOP) it starts to negatively impact my benefits, step increases, etc because I will be coded in the civilian system as Leave Without Pay...no military designator on there... All the …

Currently enjoying great success with a career in engineering but going to UPT soon. I don't plan to return to a full time engineering career and I desire to get away from the M-F 8-5 grind but still need to earn some coin and have some ambitions I'd like to act on. So, I think I will start my own small consulting company taking on small projects and performing consulting in my free time. Anybody else have their own business? What do you do and how do you balance it? Would appreciate any experience you could share, even if it's in a totally different field. Thanks!

I am currently an ART in traditional associate unit that flies M-F. I am thinking about becoming a HS teacher and I am wondering if anyone has or knows anyone who has any experience/luck with trying to balance M-F flying with a "day job" like as a teacher. I know I could make up mil-duty in the summers but I would not want to go the whole school year w/o flying. To maintain a level of proficency that I would be comfortable with, I would like to try to fly 4-6 times per month but that would likely mean missing 4-6 days of work (school needs a sub, students "suffer"). I don't know if there is a better way of doing it. I am totally happy with being an ART but I h…

Have any of you seen the AFRC bonus programs online for FY16? Is the $10k affiliation bonus still available? Is the $25k pilot bonus available to those with more than 16 years of active service (like it is for active duty bubbas starting this year)? Can these two bonuses be received concurrently? This is specifically in reference to an AGR opportunity I may or may not be looking into. Thanks for the help.

I did a search and didn't a thread dedicated to retirement changes so please direct me to it if you know of it. It is not clear to me how the new retirement changes affect the reserves. I have about 9 years of active duty and 1 year of reserves. Am I still eligible for early reduced retirement now that I am no longer active?

So I am in contact with an AFRC recruiter for their November unsponsored but also reached out to and active duty recruiter for their November board. This recruiter noted that I cannot apply to both and that I need to pick one or the other. Can anyone confirm this?

Got my PPL about 12 years ago and have flown on and off since then. Recently got sponsored by a unit to go up against the June AFRC board and my license is currently out of date and I need to do my biannual flight review. Do you know if the AFRC board cares whether or not my license is current? I do have an up to date 1st class medical.
