I have heard alot about the c-5's all going guard. Is this true? A few people in my squadron have said that they have moved all c-5's out of Dover and that they are all going guard. What about the Travis c-5s? I am about halfway through phase 2 at UPT and was hoping to be able to have the c-5 on my dreamsheet. Is it still a viable option?

Just watching some WWII movie and a question just came to me... Pilots that shoot down another aircraft get "kills", five to be an ace but, what did the gunners (B-17, etc.) get when they shot down another aircraft? I tried ye old Google with no luck (although somebody will prove me wrong).

Is there a way to calculate a start point for a decel at a set rate? Example: 110knot cruise I want to slow to zero at 5 knots per second to arrive over a waypoint with zero ground speed at what point prior do I have to start my decel?

I've heard a lot about work days typically running to the 12-hour mark. That's all well and good, but when do you AD guys find time to go to the gym?! I'm not even commissioned yet and I find it a struggle to fit in an 8-hour work day, all of my daily responsibilities AND an hour or two at the gym. When do you guys work out? (And if this has been answered before, searching the forum didn't reveal a single post that contained the word "gym.")

About 4 years ago at Ramstein I was in the O club eating lunch. The waiter asked me and my bud if we wanted a beer. Naturally I said I wanted one but since it was the middle of the duty day and I was in a public-ish restaurant, I'd pass. As only a dedicated German would, he actually tracked down some reg that stated I was allowed to consume 2-8 ounce beers per day during duty hours. I was obviously very pleased and shocked, and then enjoyed a couple of Bitburgers. The best part was when a penis major rolled up on us and asked if we thought it was profesional to be drinking during the work day. We asked the waiter to cite the reg, which he happily did, and the major …

We've had the "highest" - HuggyU2 We've had the "fastest" - EvilEagle and JimNTexas tied at 1.7M So who's got the most hours??? I'm thinking with 5000+ hours, HuggyU2 is going to win another one..... https://www.8af.acc.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123026838

Can anyone shed some light on how much the flying experience of a nav differs from that of a pilot? Will a nav ever experience visual stimulations similar to that of a pilot? Excluding future opportunities outside of the Air Force, if a civilian pilot applying to OTS really wants to fly, will they be disappointed as a nav?

Looks like https://www.afreserve.com/ got hacked over the weekend. Doubt it will get fixed until tomorrow since it was an extended weekend.

Where do the Coast Guard C-130 pilots come from? Is it possible to be an AF pilot and cross into the coast guard? If it is I'm guessing that your AF years/CG years both work towards 20? It just seems like a sweet gig if you love being near the ocean. Thanks!

The 41st AS was officialy re-alligned from Pope to Little Rock today. To my utter horor I had to take off the "cloud 9" patch and put on a weak ass 2 AS "Flaming butt dart" patch. The J model guys stand up at the Rock next month from what I hear, but it's definitely sad to see the flag rolled up and shipped off. To all the current and former Blackcats (Mr. Baseops.net himself included) Here's to 31 years at Pope; hacking the mission and getting sh*t done. Anywhere, Anytime.

https://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070216/ap_on_...spain_hijacking He may not have been quite the enemy we're fighting, but it sends the message that crews and passengers aren't going to take any more sh*t lying down.

So I've heard some good stories, but was wondering what the best tricks are that you have seen a student pull to get back into the flight room after a solo?

What is the status of the C-130 AMP program? Most of the information on the internets are from 2005. Is there any money in the next couple years for some glass? https://www.af.mil/news/story.asp?storyID=123027448 gracias

I read a book about F100 FAC pilots in a book called Bury us upside-down and noticed in alot of pictures they had the "aussie" style boonie hats with one side folded up. I guess it was in-country tradition tradition. Do they still use these? IF not I was wondering if there are any other in-country traditions. Thanks guys

I did a search and I know that there has got to be some more info on this stuff but could not find it. So I thought I would jump start this again. For those in the know, what are some of the differences and likes of the Mc and HC 130? I know that there are more differences than what just meets the eye but I can't find them. It seems to me that they do alot of the same things. Plus, any Nav specific stuff would be appreciated such a deployment rates and specific duties. Thanks Oh man I probably should have put this some where else, this new design allows a high learning curve

I am at an unnamed tanker base for a couple days in the northwest (happens to be co-located with the survival school-but Ill keep it unnamed) and have noticed an absolutely disturbing trend amongst aircrew. Almost every person I have seen, still has their pen flap on their sleeve attached. WTF?????!!!!!! When did this bulls@#$ start happening? And why, oh God why, have we given up the most basic right of any rated donner of the flight suit to cut that worthless piece of forskin off our bag? PEOPLE PLEASE!!! If you have a single flight suit with that worthless piece of fabric dangling off it, for the love of all that is holy and good, and an affront to pencil push…

So the academy has 3-screen static T-6 sims. Having read the 11-248, I've been trying the contact stuff (oval pattern, slow flight, stall, little bit of aerobatics, etc) in the sim. Any recommendations on what to practice in the sims since it is so limited (ie: you have to estimate where the perch is since you can't see the runway at a 45)? Any bad habits to watch out for or good ones to develop? Thanks!

Should I receive DLA as a single guard guy with no dependents that PCS'd to UPT then PCS'd home afterwards? If it matters I lived in the duplexs at DLF. I read the DLA facts that is linked from the baseops homepage and I couldn't determine if I was eligible or not. Finance back home is giving me the runaround as well by saying they aren't sure if I should receive it either. [ 05. February 2007, 11:14: Message edited by: pcgoeken ]

In keeping with the recent spate of threads about flight flight suit pockets and the like, I thought I'd take it to the next level and post this little gem from Flight International: So, spill the beans. What are you guys finding in your MWS that you're throwing out the door?
