Ok, so I graduate/commission in Dec of this year. I got my pilot slot through ROTC this year and will be heading that way after the first of next year. My concern is, is that I have heard some bad things about the Air Force and not allowing bikes. Granted, most of the things I have heard are from an officer that hates bikes. So, what has everybody seen on AD out there? I know that UPT will be very busy but is there at least some time to ride? Many thanks in advance ;)

I've read about units paying for hotel for those who don't live in the area while on duty for the weekend. However, was wondering if travel (i.e. air travel) is discounted when travelling from out of state to your unit's base?

Just wondering what the situation is with the dorms at UPT. Are bachelors required to stay there, and are there dorms at all of the UPT bases? Also, if it's not required to stay there, what do you all think is better...dorms or off base? Thanks.

I always wanted to do freefall at the academy or airborne training but I know that will be very hard to go to since there are so many cadets at Riddle that want that as well. So I was wondering is there any way you can go to jump school when you go AD? If so, how do you get it and how competitive is it? Lastly, I will be going to field training soon and I have an injured wrist. Will they let me wear a wrist guard (it's pretty small)?

I'm heading down to Maxwell in July for ASBC and was wondering if there is any internet access available in VOQ or billeting while you are there?

Do you have to be married to your significant other in order for them to recognized by the Air Force, and also so that they can live with you on base if you so decide? I did a search, but couldn't find much on this. Thanks!

At AMS they were very anal about not allowing us to run anywhere but on the track. Tracks suck. I'm a running freak and love open roads. When the duty day is over are you allowed to run off base or is that a commanders decision? I'll be at Vance in August and those lonely Oaklahoma roads with wide shoulders look tempting. Thanks.

He pursues his goal to become a pilot/nav in the Airforce and he was determined to apply for the Airman Education and Commissioning Program (AECP) Today we found out on the AFOATS page that he can not become a pilot/nav under this program. I know this isn't the perfect forum for this question, but I figure a lot of you can help. I'm trying to buy an RV-8 to use for fun flying as well as cross country flying. The basic VFR plane is affordable (at least I'm trying to convince my wife that it is). The problem is if I add the IFR package, it's too expensive. I'm going to be using the plane for cross country flying that eventually will be LONG cross country flying (Montana to Louisiana). My question is, if I don't have the required IFR equipment (btw, presently, I don't know much about IFR flying), how practical would it be to use the plane for long cross countries? I just found this site and it seems very helpful for those who post questions on here so I guess I'll give it a go. I have some questions about what my fiance and I should do when I leave for UPT next Spring. We have been together for 5 years and engaged for 7 months. We are going to wait until after UPT to get married but thats not the issue. The problem is being apart for a year, or more. Many units are able to keep their UPT graduates on steady Active Duty orders to continue their training requirements while they sit and wait to become fully qualified while in the training pipeline! Recent message from the Guard Bureau states: Those trainees who do not have training scheduled within 30 days of finishing their UPT will be cut off of Active Duty Days due to a BIT or otherwise known as "Break in Training!" This is a WARNING SHOT, meaning it has not been put in effect yet. It could become law in a few days, a month or two, or never see the light of day if they sit on it! Hi all, I am supposed to leave for 1st session freefall. Unfortunately, I'm having a little bit of trouble with my medical. I'm a little bit confused as to what kind of medical evaluation I am supposed to get. My cadre sent me, initially, in May to MEPS to get a class 3 flight physical. I passed the physical, but last week I found out that it was denied because it wasn't done by an Air Force flight surgeon. I was sent yesterday to Holloman AFB for another Class 3 flight physical. Unfortunately the physical wasn't completed because there was no flight surgeon on duty. As a result of this, I got the inital stuff done yesterday, and will have to drive back on Frida…

We had two fail it, they just had to take it again after Tweets if they ended up going to 38's, so I guess the rules are still the same. I think the strike navs have to do it too... If you are lifting weights and keeping in shape, you will have no problems with it. The biggest challenge is the fact that the reps are so slow. Try it someday and gage your progress. Most of my class got over 200, including me, and if I can do it...
