September 28Sep 28 It's very strange. No 'explosives' in the vehicles. Fuel thieves are a thing but all the OSINT dudes tracking them show very strange movements for your typical fuel thieves and there weren't any tanks in the area they were in. Dry run?

Dry run?Saw a talking head today throw out there these may be just criminals (low functioning) hired by Iranians, seems reasonable as they could have used several layers of separation to keep attribution deniable at least publiclyThrow some money out there see what happens, gather intel on how well your networks are surveilled / compromised even if it doesn’t happen, maybe… Edited September 29Sep 29 by Clark Griswold

The first guys caught were quickly released and it was suggested they might have simply been trying to steal fuel. Now they arrested an Iranian and people are paying more attention.

Also you don't just up and move 12x bones in 24 hours without max effort of everyone involved. I'm sure they were jumping through their assholes to make that happen. Seems like some potential new threat caught them by surprise or we're not being told everything about the original dudes. But who knows. At this point this is the kind of scattershot messaging retardation we've come to expect from this admin. At least it's a win for the crews though, now they get to be at home with their families to watch the 69th round of [negotiations -> oh wait nevermind we're threatening obliteration again -> nevermind back to negotiations] rather than flying once a month and watching paint dry at a forward operating location

The possible fuel thieves that were released then the Brits arrested an Iranian late last week with ties to a possible operation against the bombers. After Operation Spiderweb I would rather they act on the side of caution.
