Pilot I work with didn't make it. Sounds like he's gonna get the boot cause he's not eligible for TERA.

Any other word on whether this was actually the case? As I mentioned before, I heard of a case last year where a guy wasn't eligible for TERA, but they have to be pretty unique cases.

I know 3 11M's getting the boot... all 3 were completely blindsided. I know a larger group of 11M's who were just passed over for the first time on this last board that are stuck in limbo. The bigge

Instead of making people guess if there is going to be continuation from year to year, the AF just needs to start being straight forward with bubbas and stop playing "I have a secret" with people's ca

Any word on who is getting continuation? I have heard everything from only 11S... no 12S... to it's a random vote.. the F.

11F here. Offered continuation, politely declined. I'm out!

It's so great we are passing over so many fighter dudes. I mean all I ever hear anymore is how overmanned we are in 11Fs... /sarcasm off. Who is running this s#itshow?

It's because we eat our own and don't take care of you unless you're one of the "chosen" ones.

The thing is.. I don't mind staying a O4 and doing my job for the next however many years. The problem is that the AF doesn't like to prepare people. I have more statistics than I care on why I didn't get promoted.. but the bottom line is that I want to know my chances at continuation. Were 80% 12S continued? 0%? Is continuation decided by the board members having a foamy sword LARPing battle after having a number of drinks? I have no idea.. I don't want to count on continuation if ZERO navigators or 12S folks were not continued.. How is this information not available?

I know an 11H that was offered continuation.

Seems like pilots (not sure how many) were offered continuation. No 12S were offered continuation this year. So TERA is authorized until 2018, and it seems this year anyone eligible for TERA was offered it. What are the chances it is still offered next year and the AF doesn't pull another rug?

I can't really see them not offering TERA while it's still authorized after the shit-show of 2011.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but can you take TERA?

TERA was not offered. Doesn't affect my desire/decision to leave.

11B offered continuation//decling & walking away 30 Nov with nothing.

My Wing/CC showed me the SECAF instructions to the continuation board after I inquired in June about why I was the only B-1 guy given an ultimatum (stay in/accept continuation OR Else... leave with nothing), while all my 2x passed over B-1 brethren had won the lottery with non-continuation/TERA.

AFSCs on the SECAF's critical skills list were offered continuation (the stay or leave with nothing this year). Those not on the list are automatically in the non-continuation bucket, with TERA if eligible. There was one small caveat at the end of one paragraph saying the board can continue whoever they want based on the "best interest" of the AF. He told me that must be how I was offered continuation as a "non critical' skill. Seems sketchy... you'd think "best interest" would be to coerce ALL pilots to stay in via this shitty continuation deal instead of retiring them.

Talking with continuation folks at AFPC... ONLY 135 officers were offered continuation this year. I know of at least 5 (all pilots, btw) that are all declining it, despite leaving with nothing. What really pissed me off, is that I'm not even a critical skill, yet somehow, the AF thinks they're offering me this amazing deal by trying to financially coerce me to stay in, TBNT!

Same here, 11F, offered continuation...declined. I'm out in a few more weeks!

Leave and never look back. Offering continuation is a win-win for the AF. They either get you to stay or they get your separation pay. It's fucking extortion.

For those considering being twice passed over next year+       HAF/A1 doesn't foresee TERA being an option for those non-continued despite being authorized for use by Congress through 2018.  Enjoy, and get out now!

When A1 says "we do not foresee using TERA for any boards currently scheduled", are they talking in the same context of your situation where you ARE offered continuation but turn it down and are asking for TERA? Or do they mean no TERA for this year to people who just don't get continued and are forced to get out?  If it's the later, that sounds a lot like the 2011 debacle.  It's hard to tell which you are talking about because we can't see your questions and what this guy was referring to with "softening the impact".

I read it as no TERA period.  I anticipate them returning to previous guidance of offering continuation to anyone with less than 6-yrs to retirement and/or a critical skill.  -- all due to FY14 cutting too deep, and retention sucking so bad.

I encourage anyone interested to keep an eye on DoDI 1320.08

I talked with someone at AFPC and they anticipate this as well.  TERA will no longer be an option and folks get continuation just as prior to 2011.  According to AFPC the last board in Sep (not sure what it was, non LAF O4?) offered continuation to everyone passed over.  When I asked about the chances of non-continuation and then not getting TERA they said they is 0% chance of that happening..  other than negative discriminators on their record.

I read all of that very differently. It sounds like if you're closer to the 16 year point you're more likely to get continued, but if you're closer to 15 you have a chance at TERA unless you're on one of the critical lists. And there's no chance of involuntary separation.
