Never. Cuz they're gonna be so rare now that they'll be a collector's item that nobody actually wears on their feet.

And if the bible thumpers never got triggered, we'd never even know about this....Irony at its best.

The blood thing needs to be explained (for amusement sake).

I know some parents buy their kid a car, but Jeeezuz...

I thought his name was Marzipan?  (I know, lots of nicknames for him already)

His losing control is awfully embarrassing.  Are the UK bookies offering odds on whether this will happen again?

I didn't see anything like this with the African-Americans I flew with or served with.  Heck, most of them did better than I did and went to USAFWS, SAAS, AWC, and made O-6...  YMMV though.

This is just another opportunity to put drama in front of the public (in the flavor of the day).  It received attention, and the Daily Mail profited from the story - mission accomplished.

Could they have found five Caucasian guys with the same (or close story), and get them to whine?  Quite probably.  But it's not the flavor of the day, and the media can't profit from it, so we don't hear about it.

Washington Post retracts story claiming Trump told Georgia Secretary of State official to "find fraud."

    https://triblive.com/news/politics-election/the-washington-post-publishes-correction-on-trump-call-with-georgia-investigator/

The single anonymous source was the campaign manager for GA SecState.  Who made it up.  Proven by the finding, in a "delete" file, the actual recording of Trump to the investigating official.

Multiple other news organizations, who claimed to have also verified the now debunked story, relied on this same single source.

This story was used as "evidence" in the second impeachment proceeding.

But totally worth it.  There are no more mean tweets going out.

Sometimes, the end justifies the means...

Wonder why they are bothering to retract the story?  No one except the 48% will continue to whine about it, so just keep going.

  5. Hmmm...   I must have missed some special nuances watching Coming 2.  In fact, I didn't understand it so much, that my opinion is that this film was just awful.  You'll just have to see it understand the reasons why I say that, after all I don't want to be called a racist.

Caveat: The Barbershop scenes were hilarious.

!RemindMe in four years...we will look back on 2020 corona virus as the most disastrous government intervention in the history of American public health.

total disaster and fear based response

amazed how easily americans can be lied to, deceived, freedoms taken away, businesses shut, schools closed, travel stopped...all in the name of "keeping them safe"...and most americans WILLINGLY are giving up their freedoms in the name of "safety"

really is incredible. fear is a hell of a weapon.

Watched the Mars Perseverance landing yesterday, and all I heard from the dual-masked NASA folks was "MmmmfffMMmffhh..."  After hearing them mumble, you could then discern a good deal of heavy breathing, trying to recover from talking a little bit.  When it landed, they all cheered, then huffed and puffed.

What a mixture of jubilation and sadness.

I bought my first generator, 5500 watts, years ago in FL to run an air compressor for a roofing nailer to put a new roof on my wife's rental house. It came in very handy when Ivan, and the next one, rolled through. Ran the basics, fridge, freezer, washer, stove, and water heater but not all at once. Funny thing is I have four generators now living in BFE New Mexico and in the eleven years we've lived here the power's never been off long enough to need to use one.

Yeah, I haven't owned a generator for a while, but thinking about getting back to that.  We've been in a new (used) house for two years now, and suffered power failures seven times so far.  The electric company (Dominion) has all of their "outside plant" aerial, instead of buried - so when trees go down, so do the wires.

Actually, I figure if I buy one, I will never need it.  Stuff works that way doesn't it?

Okay, so let's configure our ideal spacecraft, which carries people - even though they don't have to go.  Mine would include:

    • (One) - iPad or equiv. sized computer (to run everything, and tell those pesky humans to shut up when needed)
    • (Two) - COVID-19 protective masks, to be work concurrently (maybe three if it's 2023 or later)
    • (Unlimited) - Piddle packs, as a toilet (head, for you seaworthy fellows) will not be installed

Please feel free to add anything you like to my starter list

Wordy article from Time admitting that Trump was right about the election.  https://time.com/5936036/secret-2020-election-campaign/

This really ended up being about everyone except Trump (and Trump supporters), miraculously saving the election.  And boy was it close (so they said)...

    Quote

This is the inside story of the conspiracy to save the 2020 election, based on access to the group’s inner workings, never-before-seen documents and interviews with dozens of those involved from across the political spectrum. It is the story of an unprecedented, creative and determined campaign whose success also reveals how close the nation came to disaster.

The inferred meaning here is - a Trump win.

  10. Maybe this belongs in the WTF thread, but I found this article interesting:

Pause in Corporate PAC Spending Triggers Political Pushback
Lawmakers say companies’ suspension of campaign donations puts business priorities at risk

Yes, our wonderful congress is actually bitching they aren't getting enough money for their PACs, and they are insinuating that it will hurt legislation beneficial to these businesses.

No, they won't hate us any less.  Take a look at EU (and Britain) for an example of this.  Am I being to obvious here (likely)?

Wow, is that bad *ss or what?!  As long as I don't have to look like any of the people who are modeling them on the website.

On a semi-related note, have you seen the shields some other countries are using (Japan for example)?  I guess we here in the USA just do what we're told, and hang something cotton on our ears.

How many days are we into the Biden 100-day mask challenge?  Doesn't matter, as we will likely be wearing these things for the rest of our lives.  I want one which is surgically (and permanently) implanted.  Wait, on second thought...

Good discussion here.  BLM is a problematic organization.  The Marxist connections and the bizarre statement about the eliminating the nuclear family are confounding.

HOWEVER, I’ve taken the opportunity to sit down with (actual, real) black people and get their perspective. I’d strongly recommend doing the same in order to challenge your thinking. Some don’t perceive any racism but the vast majority do.  It can be uncomfortable as it initially comes off as  “all white people are bad” but after some reflection that wasn’t the case. After years of having grievances dismissed or having to deal with always-hostile reactions from the “I’m the least racist person I know” “I have a black friend” or the “yeah there’s maybe some racism, BUT...” crowds you get pissed off - such that opening a pressure relief valve is dramatic. Also, some folks use the problematic aspects of the BLM organization to discredit any and all complaints from the black community.  That’s Fox News, Newsmax, and talk radio SOP. All of whom, by the way, are part of the mainstream media. They celebrated/defended Trump as much as MSNBC and CNN attacked/discredited him.  So, overall Trump coverage was balanced, although bimodal.

So what happened during the eight years of Obama/Biden?  Did we just shut of the black complaint system, because there was someone in office who should be sympathetic to the cause?  The complaints seem to rise and fall with whoever has been elected.

I too have friends who are "down with the cause," and they lay the blame for all of their troubles on Trump - including the challenges you list, and race problems dating back decades.

Well, now we have Biden.  In a post-election world, it will be interesting to see where he lays the blame for race troubles.

Well the shenanigans wouldn't have been needed if the republicans hadn't faked 9/11 to garner unilateral support and install fox news and the patriot act in 2001. YOU really only have yourself to blame.

Wow, are you defending our country?

I'm not going to ruin it for you guys/gals.

But I will.  The movie is awful, avoid.

They brought Chris Pines character back to support the flimsiest of plot lines.  His presence was a complete waste of time.

Kristen Wiig playing the heavy?  Wait, there's more than one bad guy?  Another DC problem - too many characters.

This felt like watching a bad TV episode of something.

Seems an interesting time was had by all...

"Regrettably, Clarkson got off to a bad start with Yeager as the host arrived late for the interview due to a last minute changes in his schedule. The host shared: “He was standing there, looking at his watch and, as I climbed out of the car, he said: ‘You’re 15 minutes late.’

'Naturally, I assumed he was joking, so I replied: ‘That’s nothing. You were three years late for the Second World War.'  The Airforce officer clearly showed how annoyed he was at Clarkson. He spun on his foot, stormed out, and slammed the door."
