One thing to point out is most people I've talked to aren't worried about dieing from the vaccine. They are concerned with more subtle side effects like unexplained pre-diabetes in 20 years despite a healthy lifestyle, or reproductive difficulties that increase frustrations with getting pregnant. In either of these cases the right of the individual trump's the public health concerns for right to life because both of those situations are life altering to the quality of a person's life.

I have my two doses, but I am worried about my balls falling off.  Can I get insurance for that?

Lets not forget Perez only won because the Pirellis went kaboom on Max. I really do wonder if the whole things rigged sometimes...

Remember Russells "tire mix up"? How convenient....wouldn't want to throw some schmuck in the car and have them coast to a win...

    <snip>

You're right, Baku would have been another win for Max, interesting, eh?

And the tire mix-up.  Russell topped (sts) every practice and qualifying, then lead the race until the tire slip-up.  That was just too "fishy" for me.  When was the last time someone's pit activity was that bad?  Makes you wonder if Lewis was on the phone saying "You need to do something to get him off that track?"  (I know, pretty far fetched, right?)

Then there's the very slightly connected (to F1) Montreal Canadiens

Question for those that have gotten vaccinated...how do you know it's still effective? Do you need a booster soon? If so, when?

I can only go by what has been published (regarding continued effectiveness), and by anecdotal evidence from my physician.  I guess that leave me in a wait and see.

Aren't boosters being talked about, but nothing conclusive have been decided?  I think that's tied in with the accursed "delta" variant - will it arrive, and from where, and to whom?

Are we sure that was indeed the French GP? I remember it being a dull affair year after year.

Yes, it was an exciting race.  If there are some here who haven't seen it, it's worth watching (no spoilers).

This just further plays into the "we're different from you," and it's all about the mentality so prevalent today.  No surprise that's the way it has been spun.

Today's race was pretty "Wow, didn't see that coming (sts)!"

Very glad for all three podium winners.

Exactly, I really enjoyed the race, including the "Oh Sh*t" moment at the end with the race leader, then the "Sorry about that" moment with the guy in second place - an unusual moment for Hamilton.  Actually left the coverage on for the podium experience this time.

If one hasn't seen the race, it's worth a look.

Here's the catch though. You volunteered to be in the military and signed on the dotted line agreeing to be subject to a different set of rules above and beyond your average civilian.

    <snip>

Are you saying that everyone signed on - knowing "the rules" were going to be changed, based on wind direction and political ideology, and we're okay with it, and need to live with it?

Max, buddy, can we talk for a minute?

Listen, man, that was a good race.  Merc's strategy just was better, but you did a really good job and are still up there in the points race as well.

No, really the reason I wanted to talk was...

Man, don't know how to bring this up but...

Dude, it's the 'stache.  It's gotta go or at least go full 70's porn star with it.

This thin manicured line makes you look like a knock-off Inspector Clouseau or Hercules Poirot.

Either way, it's just not a good look for you.

    Only saying this to help...

He doesn't know how to do the 50 mission curve either.

I would also say that the #44 car was faster then the Red Bull, but that's nothing new.

I don't know, he kind of reminds me of the extra guy from Ghostbusters, who was just there for the job and didn't really know what he was getting into when he volunteered.

Vettel is washed He's in a new car and maybe that's the difficulty, but his ending at Ferrari was pretty bad. He could probably ride his championships a lot farther than Alonso or Kimi have theirs, if only he could manage to consistently compete well in the midfield, but even that seems like it might be out of reach.

I'll save my judgment for Ricciardo until mid-season, but I'm not too optimistic.

This begs the question - who has ever had a successful comeback?  Not even Michael Schumacher, so my expectations are pretty low for these guys.

Do we really think we're going to get for-profit media companies tone down their rhetoric when they know it will cost them engagement numbers? Is McDonald's going to purposely make their fries less tasty so you don't want to eat them as much?

And that is really the key.

Showing the drama (in anything) is financially beneficial to whatever news outlet is displaying it.  But, there is another component to this equation - the folks who consume their drama products...

Not many people even understand the level of truth in what content they consume, we gravitate to the news that makes us feel good in our own beliefs - even if completely false.

This whole thing feeds itself, and is nearly self-perpetuating.  And just damn ugly to watch.

    Article: WSJ

Now that my wife has had her first COVID vaccine dose, and gave birth to her comorbidity (his name is Dylan), we have changed our behaviors to including getting my first massage in 15 months. I'm excited to go out to a restaurant after her 2nd dose has taken full effect in a few weeks.

    Congrats!

Wait, do people really think Satan shoes are... Anything? How is that important?

I don't know, people in the USA have been killed for "athletic" shoes, think about the culture that this is sold into.
