  1. Can you imagine if, instead of doing this for pilots, they just hired 6-9 full time civilians per squadron to do those shitty jobs? I'd be interested to see if they expect 6-9 pilots per squadron to accept, but something tells me that's probably less than 5.
  2. I had to go back quite a ways to figure out what the hell everyone is bitching about. And it seems to me, ILoveScotch is advocating that if people quit talking shit, then the RPA manning issue will be resolved, whether that's through the outside perspective of the RPA community, or through better dudes volunteering. Is this correct, ILoveScotch? Because I think bitching actually does get you somewhere. Look at something like the blackmold situation at Al Udeid. Enough people did enough bitching to the right people that it got changed. That's a quality of life issue that is now more positive than it was before. If the folks at Al Udeid took your arguments: then there would still be a blackmold problem because no one would've complained. I'll be honest, I don't have much experience in the RPA community (zero, actually), but if there's shitty things about being an RPA pilot, then I think people should definitely bitch about that, because how else will things get better? If you vote by leaving the Air Force at the end of your commitment, then there isn't much incentive to change it because all the crusty old dudes who hated it are gone. And if it's a shitty deal, then why would you want to stay in with the altruistic goal of making it better? Some people legitimately might be motivated like that, but I get the feeling that those people probably don't think it's that bad of a deal to begin with. On top of that, when they become senior leadership, and they're not flying the line, how are they supposed to know what to improve or what to change when no one is bitching about negative things? I appreciate your positive attitude, and if more people thought that way, then yes, people would be happier. But I think most folks need a reason to be so positive, other than "If we all think happy thoughts, we'll be happy!" or "Hey no one said this was a bad deal, so it's probably a good deal," or "Hey everyone said it's really cool, let's go check it out." (<--and then show up and be sorely disappointed when they discover all the shitty things that people should've be more vocal about). I'm sure you're not really advocating that if everyone stops saying it's a bad deal, then it'll turn into a good deal. Because that seems to be flawed logic and poor leadership. Am I wrong? Are you actually advocating that, or something else?
  3. I stopped submitting my air medals after my fifth one because the paperwork was more of a headache than it was worth. I mean, cool...I flew ANOTHER 20 tanker sorties over Afghanistan/Iraq. Real bad assery. Tell you what, though, it's great for my airline app.
  4. Some fellas up at BAB today were saying that this here photograph was 'shopped. Any truth to that?
  5. You know, the one thing I was really glad I brought was tobacco. I got a pipe, a lighter, and some vanilla Cavendish from that place in Columbus MS, and it was damn peaceful to chill out on top of a mountain with a good buzz and flavorful smoke floating around.
  6. Just curious, what did you use yours for? I was told to purchase/bring one and never understood why. What are people doing out in the woods that you can't do with the issued dull knife? Are people carving shit out of trees they sawed down with the blade? Even when we were building our shelters, I usually just used my boot or my knee to break branches and shit and that worked just fine.
  7. So basically Mississippi is, objectively speaking, the worst state in the Union?
  8. Is it really that warm up there? I would imagine they would have to melt quite a bit to suck them through a straw...
  9. Here's a good description of what to expect from UMT. I'm finishing my first two classes (MBA). One class was 3 papers and one multiple choice quiz. I occasionally cherry picked quotes out of the textbooks for the papers, but otherwise, your commissioning source should be enough (it was a communications class). The other class was business law, and was 3 multiple choice quizzes plus a final paper. Honestly, I didn't read the textbooks because it was unnecessary. If you are deployed, you could very easily finish one class in a few days to a week. Tuition is covered by TA as long as you take two classes, and you rent textbooks for free. Also, I asked for an extension because apparently their course site is blocked out here (deployed). They said that there is an automatic two week extension built in, and you don't have to ask for it or anything. If you can't finish it within those two weeks, you still get an additional semester to finish the class, no questions asked. That is what I mean be close to zero effort, which is exactly what I want right now. Just check the box early on to keep my options open, and if I want a real two year MBA when I get out, I'll get one then.
  10. University of Management and Technology is priced at TA for active duty military if you take two classes at once, AND free textbooks if you are Active Duty. Their website looks like it was made in 1997 on geocities, but it IS accredited and shit easy. But it is a totally 100% free to get Master's for the box-checker group with close to zero effort.
  11. Interesting sidenote: the woman who kicked off the investigation is named "Jill Kelley," not "Jill Kelly"... if you search for "Jill Kelly," you will get something different, and I'm sure her videos have quadrupled views in the past week
  12. Lol dude its the internets I dunna care bout grammar. Yeah the 18AF/CC presented it to her yesterday at an all call at Travis. Her hair is borderline white its so blonde. As a total sidenote what does the 18 AF actually do? Edited for grammar :)
  13. she definitely just got a commendation medal with valor today
  14. definitely my favorite play from yesterday: http://youtu.be/WDT9yFhhmYU
  15. This year, I think it is fair to say that the two best teams in college football are LSU and Bama. When they met earlier, it was a close game, and would turn out differently if they met again. Having two SEC teams go to the championship sounds kind of strange, but the BCS Champ game is for the two best teams in college football. It is wrong to exclude one team because of their conference. That's some weird affirmative action shit. Let them have it.
