Thank you. these are some marvelous examples! exactly what I was looking for.

It seems like a lot of it is repetition and working with the bros. This can go for anybody, but when you weren't assigned to fly for the day and instead studied in the flight room for 12 hours, how did you guys go about that? did you just jam out those 12 hours incessantly or take breaks here and there to cool down?

if that wasn't some Captain America end of the world battle speech, I don't know what is. thanks for taking the time to write that. well said!

what was or is your effective way of studying (while in college, UPT, aviation career)? everyone seems to have their own distinct study habits, for example, ive heard of someone who watched breaking bad while studying in UPT which helped him retain information better. idk how that works but to each their own. I haven't quite figured out my effective way of studying. as of right now it's just to try and go for as long as I can without breaks (trying to work on that). A lot of people say to take breaks in between, but I seem to contradict that and attempt to read through the lines with my eyes shutting. a more specific question: when you guys enter the fire hose of information at UPT, I understand that you focus on what's required aka the gouge, but I am sure that still takes a millennia to study. how did you guys cram all that damn information in your head without falling asleep or having to re read the same line over and over without comprehending what you just read?

https://whdh.com/news/top-gun-3-in-early-development-with-tom-cruise-at-paramount/ I guess the navy didn't get enough recruits. not sure how I feel about this. the revitalization of Top Gun with Top Gun: Maverick was amazing, but I just hope that it doesn't turn into one of those series that progressively becomes shit with the more movies they put out.

your telling me that this company just bought fu**ing Hawaiian airlines..

Gotcha, I see where you're coming from. thank you for the tip; I will be looking into ATC as well.

I have got some recommendations of intel as well; however, idk if I see myself enjoying a job like that. I got a meeting with the AFE crew and the squadron coming up, so we will see how that goes. I appreciate the help gents! 🙂

okay okay.. 🙄😆 i am just tired of seeing the same four to five teams in the playoffs. who knows, maybe NFL won't be seen in the "college football" thread when the NCAA expands their playoff bracket next season.🤷♂️

As some of you know I was med DQ'd a while back; however, I just got the call today and finally got my ticket punched. I really appreciate the help through this journey, y'all are the best.🥲 I was also given a list of jobs I qualify for in regards to ASVAB and physical quals. As of right now there are no details on what is open, but here are the options: Unfortunately I was one point off the mechanical section on the ASVAB to qualify for crew chief (just my luck🥰). As a result, I am left with three options that give me exposure to the jet and pilots. I can work as an Aircraft Armament System Apprentice (I don't believe this would give me much interaction to the pilots, but it is F-22 related and a 15k bonus; cha ching), fingers crossed AFE has an opening and I can take that job, or if not I can also retest to qualify for crew chief. ive researched the jobs and understand that I should choose what I would most enjoy (I am leaning towards AFE). But, ultimately I am wondering from your guys' perspective what your thoughts are? which job would give me the best shot with f-22 pilot as the goal in mind? if I build a good rep in the unit, does the distinction of the job really matter? Are their some enlisted jobs that pilots favor over others?

the fact that there is a virtual reality blue angels team in DCS is mind blowing. these kids mimic their syllabus and fly close to exactly how the real angels do, and it makes me speechless.

I recently finished David Goggin's book can't hurt me and I gotta say it was pretty amazing hearing his story. I just purchased Mike Manazir's book and can't wait to start reading.

i'm surprised rodemaker got up. that dq was well deserved.

hopefully you don't make a sober post apologizing that you were drunk making me look like a dumbass, but I seriously appreciate you posting this. it alleviates my day to day stress of worrying how I am not going to attain the dream. seeing first hand that people actually struggled and achieved it instead of glazed through the process is a huge reliever.

this whole time, I thought baseops was trying to sell me a hot chick in a bikini..

did a search and couldn't find much, but Ive had a question ponder in my mind for a couple days. if guard pilots stay in their allotted unit for their whole career (assuming they don't transfer to another one), are they allowed to pursue an IP assignment? has anyone ever done so?
-
I would like to be crew chief or AFE, but it all depends on the slots. my recruiter says they are unfortunately out of crew chief positions, but fingers crossed that changes after I get my whole MED DQ situation sorted out. great advice btw! In regards to putting all my marbles in my home unit, I totally agree. I will definitely be applying to other guard units simultaneously. With the raptors soon to be retired, I do question what the next steps are for my unit. NGAD, F-35 replacements or maybe like you said lose their metal. although, I doubt Hawaii's squadron would decommission after what happened in Pearl Harbor. Hawaii needs some type or ariel defense (I could be wrong though). one question, what kind of opportunities are you alluding to?

seems like a business degree is something I am going to look into in the future. thanks for clearing up my questions guys. really appreciate it! have a good weekend!
-
sorry, i'm not sure I fully understand. if I chose the easiest degree possible, wouldn't that make no sense as well if I have no interest in pursuing it like psychology? or are you alluding to since I have no plans to further pursue a career in the degree of my choice than I should choose an easier one? being a psychologist has never been in the question so I won't have to worry too much about a masters. like you said, college for me was always just to check the box.

to give it straight, I haven't really put much research on the commercial backup. i try to maximize my chance of graduating SUPT (if the day ever came) with every opportunity I find, like this thread. I always imagined if I washed out of SUPT and lost a fighter slot, that I would just do heavies, earning enough hours to apply for the majors. ive seen you guys say that military pilots are strong candidates for the major airlines, so I thought my major didn't really matter. that's what I tell everybody when they ask me my major. "I am doing psychology as a stepping stone to get a good GPA to apply for a pilot slot at my home unit." another problem is Hawaii is small and our only university doesn't offer any aviation degrees except aerospace engineering. I would have to be a mad man to go down that route lol. I always planned to go out of state for college, but enlisting in the 154th wing precludes that idea. I see where you're coming from by getting an aviation degree and building hours, but with my situation, I don't think it's possible. do major airlines care about degrees? lets say everything did workout and I was a part time pilot looking to get hired by the majors after accumulating enough hours; would it matter what major I chose?
-
possibly, but hey, I wouldn't want to under-think it. 😉
