The problem is that the benefits don't look as good as companies are upping their own benefits. Target, Starbucks, and Taco Bell all have better tuition assistance than the military, for example.

Congress is going to have to recognize that military pay and benefits are not keeping pace, especially for what we ask people to do.

Apple gave me more tuition assistance, as a part-time technician working a college job, than the USAF ever did. There was also a lot less hoops to jump through to use it.

My understanding of the Frankentanker is it has a -200 fuselage, a -300 wing/motors and a -400 cockpit.  The 200 was a pig, the 300 was nice and never flew the 400.

It also has an upgraded APU to run all the refueling systems during the preflight.

I'm looking at moving to the 46 as well and that is the case. The 46 isn't quite a 767 (there are a couple differences) so they won't give you the type now. Only the guys that stood up the program because they had to get a background in the 767 before learning the differences to be able to fly the 46. That's my understanding from talking to those guys. I've been told though it's a pretty sweet jet to fly and it's really nice for some of us who are older and like to walk out to a jet that is half preflighted with air conditioning and a pot of coffee already going emoji1.png

It’s based off a 767-200 (2C cargo variant), which is the Boeing FM that it uses.

    Rambling

I supported Biden, someone I didn’t vote for, by posting a link to the actual Justice Manual the DOJ uses for charging elements?

Almost every conservative on here claims they don’t like Trump, then proceeds to rant about whataboutism.

No one is asking an attorney how to fly an aircraft and no one cares what pilots think of how to conduct charging strategies in criminal court.

Speaking of a criminal syndicate. They seem to scurry like rats when being deposed under oath.

Cohen also said the judge took into consideration his explanations for Kapri’s prior criminal history, such as a robbery and kidnapping case.

    Quote

Kapri previously served seven months (https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/kodak-black-released-from-prison-after-serving-seven-months-713044/) in a Florida prison on charges of marijuana possession, child neglect, grand theft of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In Florida, Kapri has also been previously charged at various times with weapons possession, armed robbery, sexual assault, pro
bation violations and fleeing from officers. He also faces drug, weapons and sexual assault charges in other states.

    Mike Sorrentino

    Quote

Michael Sorrentino admitted that in tax year 2011, he earned taxable income, including some that was paid in cash, and that he took certain actions to conceal some of his income to avoid paying the full amount of taxes he owed. He made cash deposits into bank accounts in amounts less than $10,000 each so that these deposits would not come to the attention of the IRS.

There's a big difference between not paying taxes versus not paying and willfully trying to conceal income to prevent paying additional taxes.

Don't cherry-pick references to frame a particular narrative. Here, let me help you out.

DOJ Justice Manual 9-27.000 - Principles of Federal Prosecution

    Quote

Under the federal criminal justice system, the prosecutor has wide latitude in determining when, whom, how, and even whether to prosecute for apparent violations of federal criminal law. The prosecutor's broad discretion in such areas as initiating or foregoing prosecutions, selecting or recommending specific charges, and terminating prosecutions by accepting guilty pleas has been recognized on numerous occasions by the courts.

    Quote

Ordinarily, those charges will include the most serious offense that is encompassed by the defendant’s conduct and that is likely to result in a sustainable conviction. In selecting the appropriate charges, however, prosecutors should consider whether the consequences of those charges for sentencing would yield a result that is proportional to the seriousness of the defendant’s conduct, and whether the charge achieves such purposes of the criminal law as punishment, protection of the public, specific and general deterrence, and rehabilitation. Such decisions should be informed by an individualized assessment of all the facts and circumstances of each particular case. The goal in any prosecution is a sanction that is “sufficient, but not greater than necessary,” 18 U.S.C. § 3553(a), to satisfy these considerations.

Admin note - Filthy_Liar went off the deep end. I was allowing most of his posts until they were all complete crazy-town, "shoot em' up", civil war nonsense. It's a tough line to draw because I'm all about letting folks post whatever they want, but there's definitely a limit, and Filthy_Liar exceeded it. My hope is that it was some kind of drunken keyboard warrior stuff... That said, I've tipped off the appropriate authorities. "Free speech" doesn't apply to shouting "fire" in a crowded theater, nor "I'm going to start shooting".

The old “fuck around and find out.”

  8. I‘ll be conducting my doctoral dissertation research starting next week. Then title of my dissertation is:

ADVANCEMENTS IN AVIATION AUTOMATION ERODING PILOTS’ SKILLS CONTRIBUTING TO HIGHER AIRCRAFT MISHAP RATES

I need to conduct interviews with at least 30 military, civilian, or military and civilian pilots. Interviews will conducted over Zoom and I’ll be transcribing your answers to my interview questions. Interview length would be approximately one hour. All research data is stored on a secured cloud with encryption and two-factor authentication. Per Oklahoma State University’s research policy for this dissertation all research personal information will be anonymous.

If you’re interested in being interviewed for my research or have any questions, just send me a message.

    Thank you!

That's bad to hear. I imagine how excited I'd be if had to take my first bite of the AF shit sandwich as a 1Lt. A big bite.  No matter how people say "That's life and such" it would really suck to have dropped a UAV out of UPT, regardless if it was Heavies or Fast Movers.  It would put a little chip on the brightest young Lt.   That was bad time for AF morale across the board from what I remember.  It put a real stink on UPT for a while.  That's for sure.

The USAF pulled a boomer move and said “Well, that sucks, I got mine. Needs of the service” and completely left out the fact these kids had a dream they’d be working hard towards for years. Then they wonder why people vote with their feet and leave.

Pure political theater on all sides. We will not default. There will be a last minute deal and both sides will claim victory. Despite what they want you to believe, neither side is serious about reducing deficit spending & that won’t change anytime soon. Until we seriously address social security and Medicare, we aren’t making a dent. We could cut all other discretionary spending and we’d still be deep in the hole.

The 2011 deal was done at the last minute and the U.S.‘s credit was still downgraded.

Remember all those dudes who got UAVs out of 38s?  They weren't all dirtbags.  Yeah that was happening to guys at UPT.  If you were not putting in the effort, you could have ended up never pulling more than 1 g in your life.  No matter what UPT base you were at.

As someone who taught in an FTU around the time they were getting their follow on manned aircraft, a lot of them were.

It’s a thankless job, it should definitely be a job contracted by civilians or done by GSs. The few good ones I’ve met were given some more rewarding responsibilities within the DOs realm to help them stand out. Of course that’s hard if the individual doesn’t give a shit to begin with.

It already is at some bases.
