  1. You'll be fine. Read, proofread, rewrite, read, proofread, rewrite, read, proofread your application and personal statement. I probably rewrote mine 60 times (at least). I rolled the dice and applied pilot-only and it worked out. There a bunch of civilian selects here that don't have PPLs and scores lower than your's. Polish the application and fire it off. Best of luck.
  2. I believe there's a drop this Friday. I need to get my drinkin' flightsuit ready.
  3. Good to hear. I used to mess with Crossfit a few years ago, but transitioned to Olympic lifting with a few competitions under my belt. Thanks! I'm stoked and grateful. Thanks, BeerMan. This derail makes for a good break from pubs.
  4. Thanks a lot for the advice and wisdom, dudes. I'm just asking in general. I figured since I'm going to be in the gym anyway, I might as well ask the guys that have been around. I didn't want to be doing anything that would negatively affect my flying. I'm an older, 10-year enlisted guy that got lucky and got a UPT slot, so I want to crush it 100% and not take this opportunity for granted. And don't worry, I only run once a year as required by AFI.
  5. Dude... I'm going to kill it then! (minus nicotine) Bacon, coffee and whiskey are the first three lines of my résumé.
  6. I've tried using the search feature, but have came up dry. I understand general physical fitness will be beneficial to having an effective AGSM and maintaining a fitness program (beyond the stellar unit PT program) is required. I didn't know if there was any experience with certain types of exercises that could contribute to handling g-forces more effectively. To me, the un-anointed, the AGSM is a heavy core and lower-body strain, so it would seem that full-body movements would produce the best results (squat, deadlift, standing press, et cetera). I'm a fit dude and have lifted competitively in the past, but am I giving this too much brain power? Should I just keep on keeping on? Thanks in advance.
  7. My class starts next week and I'm 28, but will be 30 at graduation. I'm also a prior-E so this should be interesting. I'm stoked nonetheless.
  8. Just go to this link. http://www.proprofs.com/flashcards/story.php?title=_36014
  9. You should be fine. I know of people in UPT that leave almost every weekend; long distances, too. You'll just have to do a 29B.
  10. Only one AD 11F drop. Interesting. Any SA on how many 38s were in 16-14 at Vance?
  11. ...And next year's UPT drops (please).
  12. The RPA drops have stopped (at least according to the last few classes). They were planned to only be around for the FY16 grads and it seems they have honored their promise.
  13. Originally, it was only supposed to be for a year so maybe they actually stuck to their word. Color me shocked.
  14. You'll be fine. A few flight hours definitely won't hurt, but not always required. Are you trying to Guard/Reserve? Totally reach out to units and find out if visiting if permitted and the procedure for doing so. Pro-tip for life "Be a good dude/dudette."
  15. x2 I just commented on one of the most recent articles. The staff writer contributions are garbage and are written like an eighth-grader's book report.
  16. I applied to the OTS Rated board last year as a Pilot-Only applicant. I was accepted and am currently in OTS. You should be able to apply with whatever you want, but your recruiter may recommend against it based on your scores/application. Ultimately, it's your decision because it's your life. If he/she absolutely refuses, then find another recruiter.
  17. There is a lot of misinformation here. Ignorance on the writer's part or exaggerated tales from the retired ABM. More reliable link: http://magazine.uc.edu/editors_picks/recent_features/alpha.html
  18. Looks like the "crisis" levels are starting to affect drops a little more respectively (relative to previous EN drops).
