Jan 22, 2019. Russian TU-22 hard landing to crash.

I fully expect the light attack will be this. But with a ball, and armed.

Well there go all the gains that Fingers said to make. I’d like to know more about what happened.
A few other gems from the article to consider. AETC seems to be working hard to keep the retention crisis going.
QuoteIn focus groups, enlisted airmen said they didn’t think the drinking culture was professional, moderate or responsible, and most said officers drank more than enlisted personnel. They also characterized student pilots as “frat boys,"
Interesting that the investigators did these focus discussion groups with people that did not have first-hand knowledge. It makes me question what they were trying to prove.
QuoteTwo instructors also said they felt pressured to drink, and three instructors believed Air Force leadership encouraged the alcohol culture.
Out of? This statement is completely meaningless without a denominator.
And this one made me laugh...
QuoteThe report also identified “an environment of hostility and toxic leadership” among a few simulator instructors at Laughlin, which had lasted for years, was occasionally severe, and didn’t do anything to improve their student’s performance.
Especially after this post on TPN a few days ago
QuoteI need your help!
I’m looking for an honest and open answer to an Open ended question for members of TPN. What would it take to get you to accept a job as a civilian simulator Instructor Pilot at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio Tx? Starting pay is appx $74k with government benifits and there may be recruitment and relocation bonuses authorized for highly qualified individuals. Qualified individuals have 1500 total hours, 500 hours of IP time, 75 night hours and can pass a drug test. If you wouldn’t take this offer, what would it take to get you to apply?- 1

But we paid millions of dollars to use those licensed terms...that work so well on college campuses.

But does the kickback exceed the foreign transaction fee? I would assume no, as the government is incompetent.

Love seeing the rates drop even with housing prices/mortgage rates rising. Down almost $80 for a 0-3 with dependents in the Eglin/Hurlburt area. In the process of buying down there and the housing prices are deff on the rise............
Huge increase in Pensacola. Big drop for Eglin. Amazing how different market conditions can be on either side of Hurlburt.

The only reason I am hesitant to do this is I have no guarantee of getting into OTS. I am willing to not take the bonus if that is the only option, but I was curious if anyone has ever seen one of these get approved.
I was in your same boat in 2004. I didn't take a $72K bonus as a SrA so I could preserve my options. Instead I applied to OTS during a time when AD selection rates were around 5%. I have no regrets. I've still never taken a bonus, and I still have no regrets. Everything has an opportunity cost, and I chose to 'spend' those lost bonus dollars on freedom of maneuver.

There is also a group of "officers who happen to also be pilots". Those officers are excellent officers but would have been just as content to be a maintenance officer, or an intelligence officer. Those officers are here to be officers and lead men. The “officer who happens to be a pilot” doesn’t care about flying. He doesn’t have a true passion for aviation. The officer who happens to be a pilot will not retire or separate after their commitment ends and become an airline pilot. He or she will continue service to 20 years and beyond. The “officer who happen to be a pilot” will become a senior Air Force leader. That officer will make the rules and values for the organization. They will continue in service and say "officer first, pilot second"
Chang deux. I know the last round was a troll, and well done. I expect this one is too. If this attitude becomes pervasive among our combat corps, we won't survive the next shooting war, and these things won't matter.

Yeah not really giving a shit about what the retirement cert says. Any other potential impacts from being retired at the lower grade? Pay is not a factor with the high-3 rule.
Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile appWhen you go to the commissary on the first and fifteenth of every month, the SF Airman at the gate will say 'good morning major' instead of colonel.

So, now the base is making quality of life worse for the dairy owners? Please, someone say to the dairies, "if you don't like it, you can leave."

I have a non flying gig because I shacked my gate months. I still receive flight pay and I have to pass my yearly flight physical of course to maintain my flight pay. I figured you bros can back me up or throw some knowledge darts at me to see if a GP/CC can tell me wearing my bag is a no go. As a rated officer, I assume I can tell him to read the AFI. However, I'm a bit confused due to some of the things in the AFI. My aeronautical orders are inactive due to my job until I return to a platform. A few of your darts will help me look at this objectively as to whether fight the good fight or not. I retire in 2 years so I'm highly inclined to not care at all. Of course I will follow the letter of the law. Thanks for any help or a good old STFU and color.
AFI 36-2903: 8.2.1. The FDU/DFDU is authorized functional clothing for wear by individuals who perfrom flying, parachutist, space and missile crew duties: Flight duty included preparation, preflight, in-flight, post-flight, and other flight related duties associated with aircraft operations. The FDU/DFDU is authorized for wear by personnel with an Aircrew Position Identifier (API) 1 thru 9 and A thru G (Rated Officers, Career Enlisted Aviators (CEA) 1AXXX, and 1U0XX).
8.2.3. Personnel not on active aeronautical orders are restricted to flight-related and space and missile crew duties only. Exception: Space and missile crew FDU/DFDU wear guidance will be outlined in MAJCOM supplements to this instruction.
8.3.5. Limited Wear. Wing commanders or equivalent may prescribe further limits on the wear of FDUs based on mission requirements and in the interest of health and welfare of their personnel.
What is your API code?

Im about to go to cannon i was wondering about housing. Im A1C and single. How long do we live in the dorms. How are the dorms? Can we move off base?
AFI32-6005, para 4.8 has the answer to your question. Having spent a few years in Clovis, I wouldn't be in a rush to move off base. Clovis is not horrible, but the base life is much more convenient for a young Airman.
How are they? Here's the first result that came up on google.

Thread revival.
OCP wear (ABU equivalent) can happen tomorrow per the guidance. I don't see where this includes the A2CU (2 piece flight suit). The AMC Sup says you can only wear it while performing flying duties or the sim and hasn't been updated to state that it can be worn all the time. Does anyone know of any different guidance?
Technically the green flight suit is also for flight duties.

If I could trade in my wings to break this obligation I would.
You can.
1. Request an FEB under AFI11-401, para 4.3.7.3.
2. Request a VILO under para 4.4.6.
3. Hope for separation under 4.4.6.2, with the understanding that you may also be assigned to an nonflying job.
