Delta, United, Alaskan and American no longer have mask requirements. TSA will not enforce requirement either.

That sure as shit took about 69 seconds to drop, haha. My in-laws were flying home today. OMA-ATL- mask. ATL-JAN- no mask!

Latest hotness from the CAF is that garrison Wings will have Group commanders and an separate A-Staff while in garrison, starting this year during a phase in period.  AEWs will dispense with Group/CCs this summer and will only have A-Staffs, thus will be much like MH circa 2019.

And the garrison wings are going to staff these A-staffs with what bodies?

Random question but does anyone have the Air Force course number or PDS number for AIS? I'm sure its on my certificate somewhere CONUS but I'm oversees right now and happen to need it for some paperwork.

Check your myvector. All my stuff (AMIC, ASPM, etc) shows up there under the experience-training tab with the PDS codes.

Being a product of and having served during the Cold War it was easy for me to say kill all the Russians when this thing first started.  As the reports started to come in and having seen the nasty side of war I actually had a small amount of compassion for the Russian conscripts who are mowed down like cannon fodder in Putin's invasion.  Reading some of the follow on like the article below...KILL THEM ALL.

I got to this point when I saw the pictures of the Ukrainian family, including the mother and two children who were trying to flee and were killed by a mortar strike which seems to have intentionally targeted them.  I feel a small amount of pity for them being conscripted, but at the same time, events like the one you noted shred any pretense of that and make me wish fully for their destruction.

  5. I think I've given more Q1s with downgrades than I've given clean Q1s, but I've also never given a Q3, and honestly do not see the point of a Q2.  That's an evaluator with no guts.  Either put your instructor hat on and fix it in the debrief, or have the guts to Q3 them and defend your decision.  Had a couple of cases that could've been argued into a Q3 by strictest interpretation of the Vol 2, but in my perspective the benefit of the doubt goes to the evaluatee.  So, noted it, gave a downgrade in the appropriate area, debriefed it, and we moved on with life.  At the end of the day, even with a downgrade your 942 is going to say Q1.

  6. Every Buff flying today is a 60 or 61 tail. Some are champs. Some, like 60-0059, live to make the lives of crew dogs hell!  She’s had flame outs over the Pacific, hydro leaks forcing real world no flap landings…even has her own song, set to the tune of “sweet Caroline”. “Balls 59…wouldn’t fly you if I could”

I was told no SDE pushes (my wing only gave SDE pushes to Majors who were IDE in-res complete), no jobs above the wing level (had a non-flying job early, which meant I couldn’t both go to staff and meet flying gates) and my Promote Now pushline was no good (need to have Definitely Promote, even with the Promote box checked).

I really hate how every wing has their little -isms and how that comes back to screw people. I was lucky to get an SDE push on my last OPR, but I remember the one prior (post in-res IDE looks) and the conversation was something like “he’s a major, we don’t need to put an SDE push yet” or something like that.

I wonder if moral waivers were being issued then.

Ah, yes, the consumption memorandum!  Some traditions are still alive. New Buff crew dogs are still being spoofed on their generations with this!

  10. I tried phone patching my then-fiance, now wife, coming home from Guam.  The MARS guy was super helpful, but when he got her on the phone, he didn't use, ya know, plain English and say "Hi ma'am, I'm Bob with the USAF MARS radio network.  I have a phone call to connect you with"...he said "This is (whatever his MARS radio callsign)"...the Mrs was thoroughly confused, told him he had the wrong number and hung up on him.  It was only later when she was on the bus with the other ladies waiting to pick us up from the flight line that she realized it was me trying to call her.  We had a good laugh about it, at least!

  11. In my mind, this issue really boils down to where the country is right now.  I don't think we've ever been as divided and bitter as we are right now, and it's for multiple reasons.  Party politics is one reason...twenty years of war is another.  Even if the president decided to commit to military action, going force on force with Russia or China is a far different animal than counter insurgency ops along the Euphrates.  I just do not think the American people have any appetite for seeing young Americans coming home in body bags, likely by the tens of thousands, fighting for a country that most people probably can't find a map and that I would argue, does not come across as beneficial to us.

Skillbridge just changed for the worse, now companies have to apply and get approved through the DoD mothership as opposed to with your local base office. This means unless there’s a good chance you’re going to work for said company after the six months, it’s likely not going to get approved.

Typical…it was too good to be true, so they had to fuck with it…
