  1. you'd be wagering a lot on pure luck concerning timing. When I was there students lived on base, period. I left 10 months ago, might have changed, but if there is room on base in housing, plan on living in housing. The policy changed at least twice while I was there just based on how much room they had.
  2. You can always go the "lab-mix" route, saw this pups twin on base yesterday...pretty sure no one from housing saw the actual dog! Not really sure how no one has freaked out yet.
  3. depressing, and true. The only other option Dan Snyder is capable of imagining is trading away every draft pick for the next 3 years to get the Rams #2 pick and Robert Griffin. Either way the team and fans are ######ed.
  4. That sucks, lot of good IPs there, but he was among the best.
  5. Take this hostage...you'll know when you get there
  6. the DOSS aircraft have the panels swapped, you'll sit on the right, with the instruments in front of you I had 85 hours in the left seat of a DA-20 before i attended IFS...it took about 10 minutes to get used to flying from the other side. Flying the DA20 would be pretty helpful, IMO seat doesn't matter
  7. for those who are racers or follow racing Marco Simoncelli was killed shortly after the start of the Sepang GP...low sided in front of Rossi and Edwards, both hit him square on, impact was so bad his helmet was torn off. I saw a young rider hit and killed on the racetrack when i was still racing, and this crash was far worse. RIP 58
  8. Depends a lot on configuration? Clean? Two wing bags? Centerline? Wings and centerline? Loaded with stuff on the other hardpoints? Very hard to say without a lot of assumptions about configurations. Loiter time varies with load and distance to-from base, but maybe 45 minutes at 200NM from base with a nominal load.. However, basic ferry range for the F-4E would be about 1000 NM. with internal and wing tanks only...maybe 1200 miles with a centerline tank added.
  9. here's a pic of the panel...interesting configuration, especially if it isn't mounted upside down.
  10. Oh yes, still rockin...if old people in shitty western gear is rockin
  11. As a student you won't have a choice, you'll be on base. If for some reason they don't have housing (they had plenty as of several months ago), move on as soon as possible. You want to be close to your class for studying/partying, and being 1/4 of a mile from the flight line makes life easy. The only folks I knew who lived off base either moved on as soon as they could, or washed out.

  13. lucky I guess. I changed bikes and they farmed me to progressive years ago. The initial rates progressive was quoting were actually really good compared to what they quoted if you didn't get referred by USAA, but within a couple years they were quoting me ridiculous prices.
  14. very nice!! I tried to find a superduke that wouldn't break the bank, the Zed was just too good a deal to pass up.
  15. finally got a new scooter, too bad the roads around hell rio turned out to be terrifying and boring to boot, counting the days until I get to leave
  16. Confirmed on the base. Both alive, no word on condition one way or the other.
  17. the posters have some differences from the actual aircraft, but its close enough, all the training posters in the Doss facility are different from the aircraft anyway
  18. from the article "This is not a graceful or elegant creature. It's a ######ing angry pig that roots around in shit all day and gores lesser creatures to death with it's giant goddamned awkward tusks."
  19. I suggest a boot to the door, I kicked the living hell out of more than a few cars trying to merge into me, works wonders.
  20. sorry, I wasn't clear, I don't think they are any shorter, however they aren't 5x too wide anymore so you don't look like you're carrying a giant steamer in back, these actually fit
