  1. Headed to the CAOC in the fall for 6 months. From what I understand, I'll be in the BPC. Is this correct? Any updates on living there wrt internet, dorm rooms, etc?
  2. A bunch of people I know get it from the University of Oklahoma. Its all pretty simple. think it cost $25 over TA per course. Couple of papers and such for each course. Requires some time but nothing too difficult and with that work, you will get a masters from a place that people have heard of...... though it's in administrative leadership so i'm not sure how far that will get you outside the AF.
  3. I've received conflicting guidance on this. If you are in a formal school (UPT/CSO, etc) and are meeting a board, do you get a narrative-only PRF (no bullets/blank PFR) or a full up PRF?
  4. The Air Force Crimes is now mentioning by name who was flying the airplane, who was the copilot and who the SO was. Talk about a harsh opening line....."xxxx flew C-17 Globemasters beyond their limits to entertain crowds, routinely ignoring cockpit stall warnings as he maneuvered the aircraft in and out of danger. The 34-year-old demonstration pilot was teaching others to do the same...." I think it's a shame that the AF crimes just did. Words cannot express my anger. I'm sorry for the families that have to read stuff like that
  5. Air Force 2 knocked over a small airplane with its jet blast. http://animalnewyork.com/2010/08/air-force-two-takes-out-small-plane-at-long-island-airport/
  6. uniformtutassistpol1.pdfTHREAD REVIVAL! I found this memo while surfing the ACLC website. It appears to authorize TA foreign language classes that are not part of a degree plan. The classes have to be at a university. It doesn't pay for Rosetta Stone or anything like that. I'm not sure if anyone else has heard about this or used it but I thought it might be interesting to check out.
  7. Has anyone actually gotten a second Masters degree using TA? There has been alot of talk about it on this thread but I was wondering if anyone has been approved. If so, where and what?
  8. I remember that... I also thought that everyone in your chain of command between you and him was going to be included as well.
  9. The construction has already been approved but no ground has been broken. Also heard that on-base housing is full and some student are living off base...a stud told me that so I'm not sure how much I believe it. They canceled some RIPs so the first couple of classes will not be as big as originally planned.
  10. There is a big difference between back flying and moving up. IMHO, seeing how desperate the AF is for pilots will mean that you will continue to fly after the accident. What is suprising is this guy's track... though I believe he went to the pentagon after the accident. I'm sure he made some connections there. And from what what I have seen, the air force can forgive you for an accident, as long as you swallow their medicine. I imagine the award was given before the T-6 incident.
  11. Considering the first class (which hasn't been pushed back) is slated to graduate 15 April 2011, I would say the drop would be around mid to late March.
  12. My suggestion... take this down. You are only inviting trouble by advertising this video. I just hate to see a good squadron go down for something on youtube. What's the saying around here... never talk to AF times. I think I would add...Never post on youtube.
  13. according to air force times..... The Defense Auth. Act signed by Obama on Oct 28.... monthly payment of hostile fire pay, imminent danger pay, hazardous duty pay, assignment pay and special duty pay will be prorated to reflect the actualy number of days in a month that a member performed qualityfing service. Effective Oct 28 but new regulations must be issued So long good deal trips, double cha-chings, takin' care of intel dudes working at incirlik & ramstein, etc etc ec Don't know about the tax free issue...
  14. I didn't know if I should post here or under GD. It appears that Congress is trying to arrange for the injured soldiers to recieve Purple Hearts. First off, this would make it seem like the attack was a terrorist act in the eyes of Congress. Second, I'm not sure how I feel about people getting purple hearts in the United States under a non-combat situation. And if these soldiers get it, then should all the people hurt on 9/11 at the pentagon get it?? This is like how they tried to give out Purple Hearts of PTSD. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/11/17/fort.hood.medals/index.html
  15. Anything you want to know specifically? I grad. in oct. The gouge is still pretty good. The only incorrect info is that you don't go to the 'fuge anymore. Other than that, the info is pretty good. PM me if you want any more info or specifics.
  16. Beyonce showed alot of class last night. From her reaction when Kayne made his statement to calling Taylor up to the stage when Beyonce won an award, it was nice to see some class during the award show. the spoofs are already playing out: And for the picture gallery:
  17. I'm glad to see the rumor mill is still strong. I've heard that rumor for the last four years. Schools, medical support and much more has to happen before wife and kids show up.

    Gun Talk

I'm looking at buying my first hunting rifle (i've bummed from others for a while). I want a rifle with killing power at 400 yards. I want something that I can use for a variety of hunting, but mostly elk and deer. Elk in Colorado and deer in the Southeast. I'm looking at the weatherby vanguard 7 mag, stainless steel w/ synthetic stock with a listed price of $599. Thoughts, Opinions???
  19. Every time a squadron deploys, there is always a request for additional people.... anything from EPs to brand new copilots. They just want a couple people to help out with their squadron (to allow SOLL II not to deploy, family issues, etc). It is purely a volunteer thing and nobody expects any pilot to volunteer. Many people do it to upgrade before their next deployment or to get some quality experience/hours.
  20. My airshow story: Doing a C-17 static display at Columbus AFB.... sitting upstairs talking to all the different people coming through, letting them sit in the seat, look at the HUD, etc. As always you get the parents that let their kids touch everything and flip switches. Well, I tell this kid not to touch anything or flip switches as well as remind the parents to control their kid. So I wait until the kid pulls the "trigger" on the stick and I activate/test our MWS system, which produces a loud "missile launch". The mom freaks out thinking her kid just launched a missile and pulls him right out of the seat, apologizes profusely and they head immediately downstairs. And since we are talking about stupid wife stories, here's mine .... In the C-17, we can go "split-axis", enabling the autopilot to maintain altitude while we control the roll axis. Well, crossing the ocean, a wife of a fighter pilot wants to come up and see the cockpit. We put it into split axis and tell her to come up. She asks about flying it, etc and we tell her that the autopilot is voice-controlled. We convinced her to shout into the mic of the CVR saying "turn right" and "roll out" all the while steering with our knees. We never told her the truth and she must have talked to her husband about it because later her husband came up later laughing at the great joke we played on his wife.
  21. I was curious if anybody had any information concerning active duty pilots (already having assignments behind them) transfering to guard units? I'm hoping for the ability to transfer to a unit close to my home for a couple years. (I thought this was discussed in another thread but I couldn't find it and I didn't want to start a new thread)
  22. As a cheerleader (and an attractive college age woman), I bet she understands that there are some disgusting people out there that are going to take picutres of her while she is cheering. It is the same w/ volleyball players wearing the tight shorts and beach volleyball players in the bikinis. That said, if you want the picture removed, contact the university. I bet they have their outfits, logos, etc all trademarked. Also, they would have the lawyers, resources that would pursue it. I am sure they don't want their name/image associated w/ the website.
  23. I've heard rumors of medical issues becoming more prevelant w/in the U2 community. With the increased ops tempo and old planes, the life support equipment is becoming old and more pilots are suffering from altitude issues. Would you care to kill that rumor for me?
  24. I know that there were assignments to USAFA in the last VML cycle. The assignments were to the OSS squadron and they will put you where they need you. I do not know if you do any teaching or other side jobs while you are there. From my understanding, it is a career killer (if you care...because otherwise you live in CS w/ a 9-5 flying job)
  25. I do not believe it will be easier to get a pilot slot w/ the marines because you have one w/ the AF (it might make you look worse... it could be argued that you had a great thing w/ the AF and then gave it away, why should you be rewarded w/ another great chance w/ the Marines). I can almost gurantee that once you are a rated pilot in the AF, they will not let you go. The AF will let you out of a pilot slot though. And if you have no prior experience, the AF may let you transfer to another service. I'm just wondering if the Marines would want you, since you didn't go through the experience of "becoming a Marine" My $.02
