  1. I will I could tell you it's BS, but we have significant structural problems and multiple outstanding TCTOs.

How long has this person been a CGO? Most of us are CGOs for a solid 10-12 years. That's one OTQ award a year. Doesn't seem excessive, especially if it's a fast-burner your CC is trying to set up for success. I'm also curious if that's ALL CGO OTQ awards... Like, won at the squadron, then group, then wing for one quarter - that's three OTQ awards right there.
  3. Isn't this the same study we talk about every single year when big blue releases the same bonus as the previous year?

I haven't seen a survey yet, but it definitely seems like a step in the right direction to break promotions into more categories. Hopefully the Air Force can then take the next step and promote more people in the categories where there are shortages.
  5. I noticed that she got to keep her star.
  6. You'd have to ask Gen Rand himself. He's the only one that decided this guy shouldn't be moved to another airframe. Maybe it's because we have way too many pilots in the service already...🙄

Has the status at least moved on from USECAF?
  8. I especially liked how they were "supporting fascism" by displaying a picture of the commander in chief. I wonder what those people would think if they found out there was a picture of him in almost every building on every military base?
  9. Yep. He was the final authority on FEBs in AFGSC and, based on the feedback, he "felt his UPT records weren't good enough to support sending him to a different jet". Weird, since they were good enough to graduate with pilot wings.
  10. I didn't make the decision. Part of the logic is that Lightning had digital output, so it can be directly integrated into the new LCD screens. Sniper is analog only, so we're running it on aftermarket laptops.
  11. I do want to point out to everyone giving him shit for "washing out in academics"...in my six years as an FTU instructor, academics is the ONLY place I've seen someone wash out. I don't think we've removed someone from the pipeline once they started flying in almost a decade. The academics are challenging, and run by a bunch of Cold Warriors who "won't let these slackers in MY jet", despite not having flown a jet since Desert Storm. So the academic washout thing happens more often than you might think. But this case, if it's the one I'm thinking of, is the only one where a 4-star general saw fit to overturn the findings of the FEB, the WG/CC, and the NAF/CC.
  12. There's talk about mounting a Lightning Pod instead.
  13. Well, one frat in 19 years is a better record than most platforms.
  14. Perhaps. I see his point...pretty sneaky for the AF to use "we have a pilot shortage" for a guy they refuse to retrain into an aircraft and will certainly not fill a rated slot in any staff for the remainder of his commitment.
  15. You can always fail 4 PT tests in 2 years. And that is still an honorable discharge at the end. You might not like the things that happen during those two years, though.
  16. This is actually one of the scenarios they now use for B-1 CRM classes. Plenty of blame to go around, but I will say it's a bit of a foul that the Army basically pushed the B-1 crew under the bus and the Air Force gave essentially no response. The reality is that the JTAC calling in the strike lost SA on where his people were, pure and simple.

    I don't see the problem.

So, the kind of discrimination against the military that Delta is getting sued for?

We call them "prick-xxx" in the B-1 community. Not super-involved in the SAR side of the house, so can't say what those guys are doing.

I'd say the fun police preventing people from saying STS is a bigger contributor to people leaving.

Must be nice. People wouldn't be taking to Congress about it if they were content with the status quo. But I guess we can just try increasing the bonus some more, maybe that will help.

You really think momma not being able to hold down a job doesn't affect the QOL discussion at home?

They may not have a responsibility, but they better start considering it if they want to retain anyone after their ADSC.
