  1. T-38As at Whiteman will be there longer than T-1s? They may get lucky and get T-38Cs but I wouldn't count on it. Rumor was they may get T-6s in the future so I could see all bombers coming from the T-1 track.
  2. Having just left there you can make it to Lee's Summit in 45 min and all the way to MCI in 1+15. The ballparks are on the east side so maybe in hour to there. Regarding the B-2, yes you can leave if you try. We had several selected for TPS and there are many other options. However I don't recall many others going back to their previous MWS. Container highlighted that the 2BW/CC was a previous B-2 guy which is true. Leadership options suck at Whiteman so if guys do leave it's to get a command job somewhere else, probably what they flew before. I know a few that even went to Offutt and I believe the CAFB OG is a previous B-2 pilot. The lifestyle is good for the family and maybe that's a reason why most apply. You can easily stay there for awhile if that's what you want. Not sure how long the T-38 will be around so if it does go away I could see all bombers coming from the T-1.

    PIT Crash Pad

Jan 08? Hell let me move in now, this billeting shit sucks!
  4. RIP I just served under his grandson for about 2 years. He was our SQ/CC.
  5. Yeah I believe that was the place. I'm debating on either the Sunday ride or taking a trip to Houston for the International Motorcycle Show. That would be a long day though.
  6. M2, were you guys at that motorcycle cafe place on west 337 last Sunday? I'm not sure exactly where but it was towards Camp Wood. Anyways just looked at your bike and thought I remember seeing it there. We rolled up in a group of about 6. Do you guys meet every Sunday?
  7. Man you are right, 337 is an awesome road. I just got here in Oct for PIT and brought the bike so I'm really enjoying the weekends.
  8. I used the T-38 add on for MSFS while at Sheppard and I thought it helped some. I used it to fly the low level routes and the graphics were good enough to pick out towers and other features. That is pretty much all I used it for other than approaches at unfamiliar fields. I also used it to fly the 172 during IFT. I had a yoke and rudder pedals and the cockpit setup was 100% correct. That was my only experience flying related prior to IFT other than 1 hour flight time to increase my PCSM score. MSFS has the built in flight instructor for the 172 too.
  9. I do the same thing and usually do fine on the test even though I feel like I have some hearing loss or maybe it's just selective hearing with the wife! I got a little pissed during my last test. After a few minutes in the booth it seemed like the test was repeating itself so I waited a little longer and finally 10 min passed so I started hitting the door. Nobody came so I finally opened the door and the room was empty. I walked out in the hallway and found a SSgt at his desk and asked him what the hell was going on. Apparently the A1C left for lunch and forgot to tell someone I was in the booth. Holy shit was I pissed! Everyone apologized and I got a phone call from the A1C apologizing as well.
  10. We have squadron callsigns too, not specific for each pilot. Numbers are just associated with the flying periods.
  11. Not as good as Rainman's but I used to be part of the airborne fire team that escorted the convoys in Minot. We flew in the Huey's up there and it was my first convoy as the Charlie fire team leader. My M-60 gunner wasn't feeling all that well that morning so we told the pilots to try and keep it nice and level. Well during the escort we noticed a moose in the open which I thought was rare in that area. The pilots decided to bank it up and circle around the moose real quick which caught the gunner off guard. Well he didn't have time to grab a bag and he puked all over the passenger area. Unfortunately we couldn't land or return to base until the convoy was secured so it was a long flight!
  12. I have a Sony Cybershot DSC-P200 which is a decent small size camera and easy to use. Mt Ranier Nashville Morning of Talladega
  13. On my cross countries and out & backs I've been calling the Finance Office for weather updates. It's pretty funny on how many actually tell you. Does ACC bases even have that or is it just AMC? The reason I don't make reservations is because I never know where we'll end up. We plan for cross countries but hell with weather or whatever other reason the plans change the day of usually. That's why we always get variations authorized. Now obviously that's just for training for us and others have a certain reason to go to that base.
  14. I like the M9, no problems here.
  15. He may even be a chief in the scheduling shop but it will more than likely be chief of what the hell just happened!
  16. I very seriously doubt it because they want guys who have flown the T-38 in UPT. In the last few years we have only accepted these folks but that doesn't mean it won't open up to everyone again in the future. We have taken a few from the C-21 before so who knows, just keep checking.
  17. Yes you can be checked out in whatever events you want to be and it doesn't matter if you came from the T-1 or not. We have several T-1 guys who flew heavies and are current in form and LL. However currently you had to fly the T-38 in UPT to come to Whiteman now. About the dude who washed out he was out of the cockpit for a few years and had some unfortunate events occur during his IQT so just bad timing on his part. I didn't know him well and don't know the situation fully but it's a small community. Also yes we still make guys T-38IPs from other MWS but only a few, a majority are straight from UPT who need the experience and time to get their security clearance.
  18. No, you still attend PIT at Randolph in the C model and then do an A model checkout at Whiteman. Most of the UPT guys never flew the A model so it's pretty fun for them to convert over.
  19. Ok, I guess no C model according to Huggyu2 but heard nothing here regarding it. At Whiteman you can get qual'd in all events in the T-38 and fly X/C pretty much whenever you want. I guess formation is easier here since we don't deploy often so currencies are usually not an issue. We also do several formation X/C.
  20. At Whiteman all B-2 pilots also fly T-38As. A majority of our IPs are guys straight from UPT who instruct for a year or so then start B-2 training. Whiteman is currently taking about 2 from UPT per year and the rest are from ACC. No words on the C model yet.
  21. This was a story told to me at a B-2 static. He was a mover and awhile back he moved a very old man that seemed crippled. Once they reached the new house he took off his disguise and was about 40 years old. The disguised individual began to tell the mover all about UFOs and alien technology and how the U.S. government gave all of the major corporations a piece of the alien technology so not just one could have it. Apparently this is why the B-2 is alien technology and why many different companies has a part in it. He went on for about 10-15 min about this and I really didn't know what to say!
  22. I only remember going to Lake Altus for swimming and stuff like that. It's been over 4 years so I don't recall all the lakes around there. There are several towards Dallas.
  23. I just got back from Gatlinburg, TN and every place down there offered military discounts. We stayed at Stonybrook Lodging which you can book through the ITT office on base. Every attraction in that area offered discounts and some were even free when they were charging the public $15 to get in. It was pretty awesome to receive that support! Great vacation spot with the Smokies nearby. Just watch out for the black bears, had one nearby our cabin one morning!
