  1. They also put a deflector-cage in front of the tail wheel and on the wingtips to keep them from snagging the the cable. Additionally, the flaps could be lowered to 50 degrees, vice the normal 35 degree max setting. That added a lot of extra drag, and gave the power response they needed.
  2. That is not a U-2G. That is a U-2R, which is much larger... the same airframe being flown today. The U-2G was a modified U-2C model. You are correct that the U-2G flew a couple of operational sorties, watching the French set of nukes in the Pacific. The U-2R never flew operationally off of the carrier.
  3. While you may not be overly impressed with Steve Fossett like I am, your lack of class and disrespect toward someone who gave a ton to aviation,... and was a great guy at the same time,... is disappointing.
  4. THAT's a keeper!
  5. Fuck you. FAIPs are hand picked. ... like a booger.
  6. Great, I'm in. Send me $20.
  7. Would you if offered a ride in someone's CJ3?
  8. While we're on the topic of "poor perimeter security", what's the latest change to occur in British military security since the Camp Bastion debacle?
  9. AA has 3000 employees in Tulsa? I know they had a maintenance facility of some sort there, but that's way more than I would have expected.
  10. Submit your rationale to the AF Board for the Correction of Military Records.
  11. Wow, thank you for the advice, Mr Industry Insider.
  12. I've flown the SR-20, 22, and 22 Turbo. I've not flown them at high DA. Great airplanes. Nothing 'goofy' about the Cirrus flight controls.
  13. I've only been there TDY,... but I have really enjoyed it. I'd go there in a heartbeat.
  14. Bingo! I'm out! Leveling at FL700 and RTB. Need to get home to my daughter,... and remind her to stay away from the internet in general,... and baseops.net in particular.
  15. I'm speechless. Maybe it was the idea of the "coded information inside". Proving once again that talk shows are what will enlighten America. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVr1hRjbKvQ
  16. The original Kaydet: https://www.opencockpit.net/kaydet.html
  17. Spelling matters.
  18. It depends what you like to do. Plenty of choices. City, countryside, lakes, urban, rural. Take your choice.
  19. Thanks. Great idea.
  20. Odd request here,... If anyone has a copy of AFR 35-10, ACC Sup, from back in the 1990's, please let me know. I need some info out of it. It might even be in 36-2903, ACC Sup shortly after they changed it to the 36- series.
  21. Hmmm.... I really can't dispute that statement. Recommend you call DSN 368-1110: when they answer, tell them "I need to speak to an expert about the U-2". Wow, Spoo. That's about the most complementary you've ever been about my flying,... or anything else I do. Even if you are making me sound better than I am, I appreciate it.
  22. "Supposed experts"?
  23. Yep, not at an airshow. So please don't do like the media, and call it "airshow related" just because an airplane is involved. From what I remember off of the top of my head, I can think of 2 fatal accidents at airshows this year. Hardly what I would call "quite a few".
  24. You just had to go there, now didn't you?
  25. Use caution in lumping everyone into your mold of how their resumes should look. What is sounds like is you believe they should all be military trained to be exceptionally qualified. If that's the case, I would disagree with you. I'm sure that is not your intent, however, I do want to point out there are many, many exceptional pilots out there that don't have military backgrounds, and that fly formation, low level, and aerobatics. In fact, they do all 3 of those at the same time: Bill Stein, and Team Rocket to name a couple. Hacker is also spot on in that there are folks out there that appear to think that once they own the airplane, all the gold dust will rub off on them, and they will be bullet proof and amazing.
