I am under the impression that at least one U-2 pilot will graduate in December. If true I’m sure you will see a lot of retired and old U-2 Drivers in Vegas for the event.

I'll take "Contract A-4's" for $800, Alex.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

A shame. People around him have been saying for a long time (I first heard it when he was an O-6) that he was on his way to 4-stars, and that he was exactly what was needed. -
How do y'all feel about a slightly overweight guy in his 50's, with a receding grey hairline, and bad breath?

I figured I’d resurrect this thread with some pics of earlier today. Fuel flows in this pic are definitely costlier than a round of golf... but well worth it.

A guy I know saw it today. I'm sure Phoenix is a-buzz with talk.

Nicely done. Obviously nothing can match the fact you helped save a fellow pilot through solid action and teamwork, and I know that's all that matters to you. I'm curious what formal recognition you got from the AF for it, if any. Air Medal? Aircrew of Distinction in an ACC writeup? Something?

60 Minutes Segment on 2014 B-1 Friendly Fire in Afghanistan
HuggyU2 replied to Danger41's topic in General Discussion
What’s shocking to me is the fact it apparently was never done in training, in the ~33 year Ops history of the B-1, or 15+ year history of the Sniper. Or if it was, the inability to figure this out in an operational training scenario... and debrief it... before it gets tried in combat is shocking. The continuing inability of the Services to communicate and employ together as well as they should falls square in to the lap of General Harrigian and others of his stature (in all the Services). The AF puts Patches in the key leadership positions for a reason. I’m sure it’s better than it was 10 years ago. But that’s not good enough. We've been killing bad guys in the Middle East for almost 30 years. How was this information not known? Disgusting. -
Devil, Maybe if you turned off the TV and un-assed yourself from the couch once in a while, you could come drink beer with airshow pilots.

I don't know, but not everyone agrees with that statement.

I got to see Shaft's S-2 last year. Frickin' gorgeous. As clean as the day it left the factory. Here's a screen shot of Shaft doing shit that saves lives.

I told the story at an airshow party tonight, and will skip the details here. All of the RUMINT I've received makes a lot of sense, though. Readers Digest: When I saw it, my first milli-second impression was "that's pretty dumb to be shining your ass here, and that low". Apparently he ejected right before I was looking because I never saw the ejection. Saw the last ~5 seconds of flight. No fireball, no fire. Just disappeared in to the warehouse in full AB.

Oddly enough, I was standing out on the ramp in front of baseops at March and saw it crash. Very surreal.

“If you have a contrail that lasts longer than 4 hours, seek meteorological attention.” (As seen on another site... excellent quote)

Hoss, It is also to prevent “conflict of interest”. The approval process was fair and simple, and supported by ALPA. I have no problem with it.

Tactical Void, I submitted a letter to the company requesting approval to work theee additional jobs on the side. None involve me flying. It was approved.

This is a trailer for a movie being done in Taiwan about the 28 Taiwanese Blackcats from the U-2 Program back in the 1960's. Gen Hua is about 93 now, and you'll see a guy names Louis Setter. Lou was the 10th pilot to fly the U-2. We had 5 of the Taiwanese pilots come to our reunion about 15 years ago. Pretty cool. One guy was shot down and taken prisoner by mainland China. He was kept prisoner for something like 20-30 years. When China finally released him, Taiwan wouldn't take him back. Fortunately, we allowed him to emigrate to the US.
