  1. well in an update to my situation: yesterday i went to the required eye docs and i legitimately have OHT. so thats gonna DQ me from my nav slot but i'm just glad i can still be in the air force after the glaucoma scare. now its time for me to get reclassified and hope for the best.
  2. 2 no matter what have a back up plan. 1. major in something that you like because no matter what the degree if you dont like it you wont apply yourself in it. 2. major in something pretending that your going to need to find a real job out of college and the AF wont be an option. i say this because you never know what they will find wrong with you at Brooks when you get your physical. you can lose your aviation slot or get DQd from the AF all together. If that happens what are you going to do with your basket weaving degree? i myself might not be in the air force altogether because of my results from taking my FC1 physical. although it sucks because its my dream. I still have my degree in Computer Science and i am already entertaining job offers just in case my waivers dont work out. so i say again have a backup plan and dont major in something easy just because you "think" you'll be a pilot or AF officer. anything can happen and you'll still need a real job.
  3. 1. GM ur a life saver 2. what are the stipulations if someone does actually have glaucoma? how much glaucoma is to much glaucoma sts? 3. You are right Capital letters and punctuation are awesome. but my 1337 1nt3rw3b 5k1llz will never allow me to use them. sucks bout the long day atleast its friday!
  4. revival! so ive takin my fc1 and i have high pressure per the ovt. after reading this thread and talking to my mom who just told me that my grandma just got glaucoma. im worried i might have it also. so since im ready for the worse. my important question is, is glaucoma gonna dq me from commissioning completely??
  5. ok so i just got a nav slot and last week i went to maxwell afb to take my fc1.first thing first i have 20/20 uncorrected vision. in my depth perception box it says "pass - f ovt" what is the "-f" for? i failed the red lens test in that box it says "fail -diplopia" and i failed the field of view test with 135* for both eyes. i'm getting a retest bc i claimed i was woozy bc of giving blood, not getting a good nites rest, and having not eaten. but if for some reason when i take the tests again i still fail is there a waiver for the red lens test and for field of view tests?
  6. financially ur also forgetting all the pay and benefits for the cadre members that run the detachment. i'm to tired to go into detail but if u really want a rated slot and are honestly trying for one then you will get one with or without a scholarship.
  7. 400 your 300 year and then 500 ur 400 yr!!!! thats worth it right there.
  8. is this thing still required? my det hasn't said anything to me about it and i commission in 3 weeks...
  9. id say stop by ur local Comm sq theres probably an airmen or two that are flash wizards that can teach u in their spare time. *shrug*

  15. bump does anyone have anymore info on tinker? i just found out thats where im gonna be headed
  16. i understand what ur saying trust me. but i'm sure ud be asking the same question if u were a top cadet in the wing and then literally got ranked at the bottom of ur class for no apparent reason causing u not to get a rated slot.
  17. does anyone know if you can argue your class ranking if you think u were ranked considerably lower than what u feel u should have been?
  18. wtf their tests were open book!!!!!???? thats ridiculous
  19. me either. maybe it was something that was just recently discussed at the COC conference.
  20. i remember i had talked to an eagle pilot that was moving to the -22 and he said that there were some avionics systems that prevented u from doing instant 9g turns and it had to be done gradually. is there any truth to that? maybe that could be a way to help decrease the chances of a new stud g-locing the aircraft.
  21. i love how the only thing ABE he is wearing is pants and blouse. EVERYTHING else is ACU pattern army stuff. which raises the question again as why we could just be wearing ACUs?? $#%ing idiots!
  22. anybody know the cheapest place to purchase quality abus?
  23. well im bringing this thread back from the dead. does anyone know of an air force to marine program? basically i'm a sr. afrotc didnt get a pilot slot, not sure if i'm going to get the comm assignment i want... i know that i can apply to the AD board. but the garaunteed marine pilot plan is O' so tempting to me. anybody know of an AD transfer program for it? i know i'd still have to go marine ocs but that doesnt bother me. i'm just considering all options right now.
  24. i was a soph in high skool in california. so by the time i woke up for skool the first plane had already hit. i heard the talk on the radio but was too half sleep to pay attention. got to skool and for the rest of the day we were watching coverage on tv in every class. once flt 93 crashed and it was released that flt 93 was a west bound united flight i instantly started feeling the worst emotional pain ever. without any conformation i knew that flt93 was the flight my aunt, a united flt atendant, was on. i spent the rest of the skool day hoping it wasnt her but knowing it was. then it came half way through my final class of the day. the note from the office that said go home immidiately after skool... spent the next 3 weeks of my life traveling with family to and from penn, dc, nj, ny for memorials and such. i for one will never forget to all those lost 7 years ago today.
  25. damn that sucks dude. ur situation is definately out there and i hope its not true for ur sake. but i second what grey said. but i think if u go one the forum and search ur post that deal with this certain field grade officer so u can prove to ur det commander that this guy is just butt hurt and tryna get u in trouble for no reason?
