  1. I also searched for the old thread this morning, but without luck. Linky to PDF copies of reports: here
  2. I view every Butters post ostensibly so that I can ogle his avatar; in reality, I want only to bask in the warmth of his regular grammatical elucidation.
  3. What a load of wank. So, they are killing off one of the best parts of Monopoly: lauding all your cash in front of the other players, and doing under-the-table cash loans to allies so that you can put competitors out of business. What kind of idiot is running that company?
  4. Edit: *linky has some NSFW adverts...* Presumably a big WTF (Where is The Fuck sign) for the residents of this small Belgian town: Brits Arrested for Stealing Belgian Signs
  5. Who was it who said, "Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you a fool..."? Based on the You Tube videos I just found when searching for Sea Chanters, I do have to say that they appear far less gay that TIB - no jazz hands, sequins, tight trousers, man makeup or glittery microphones in sight. Plus, they appear to actually embrace Navy heritage, which I think is a good thing (although I don't get why they are singing an 18th century English nursery rhyme in one clip). Of course, they may have traded their starched uniforms for sequins and I just don't know it; and I still wouldn't go and see them myself, so it is all rather academic.
  6. Indeed it was quality. I meant, of course, that it cannot be used as there is no way to reference it to the standards required by academia, what with this being an anonymous interweb forum.
  7. I really hope that you don't use any of that in your MA.
  8. I thought that this was supposed to be deliberately embarrassing; not that these guys were actually trying to be serious.
  9. the Deid CC's blog. Kool-aid or something you read? 'Grand Slam' Wing i just read his blog on 'SF Defenders' and anyone would think he had been watching Delta or the SAS at work. That said, I thought his blogs about the C-130 and C-17 airdrops were excellent.
  10. Never heard it called an 'influence' before, but I am pretty sure that incest is illegal in the US, even if it was only once.
  11. So, is the Combat Desert Penguin still being published? Coup at 379th AEW Edited for linky no worky.
  12. You cannot expect us to take your word for it - we are far too cynical. No, a photograph is required.
  13. Still happening, I'm afraid :( Baseops has been very slow for me for a couple of weeks, and it is also frequently unresponsive when trying to post replies (the replies are posted, but the confirmation screen is never shown to me. I have to go to the main forum and hit refresh). I am guessing I am not the only one to get this, since there has been one triple post recently, and more than one double post. As of this morning, I have been getting the aforementioned unresponsiveness and the forum errors mentioned in the previous post.
  14. Been getting this all day: Pop up box saying "Action failed" when I go to post. Hit cancel and it lets me post as normal. At bottom of each page:
  15. So, is the Army the only service where you get promoted in spite of espousing such views, or are all the armed services to frightened to act? If so, why?
  16. Nice work. I wouldn't go down the ND route until you have fully established how well the traditional methods of getting rotor blur (such as dropping the ISO to accommodate a slower TV without blowing your exposure). Also, while I agree with magnetfreezer that ND filters are very useful, and I do use them from time to time, putting anything in front of your glass will impact image quality, especially if the filter is cheap. Good ND filters (like those made by Lee) are of the oblong variety and are a FOD hazard for air-to-air work - I speak from experience as one who has 'lost' a filter while shooting out of a helo door. Their electronics are made by Panasonic. Leica digitals are never going to rival their M and R ranges, nor the likes of the somewhat more expensive RC-30! That said, I have yet to meet a Leica user who isn't just a tad pretentious.
  17. Already answered by Dupe under the F-15E gift idea Have fun on your travels! And stop making fun of European "culture"!
  18. To quote from your own article (emphasis mine):
  19. Thanks for trying to keep it on-topic. Secretly, I am as happy as a pig in shit.
  20. Great. Thanks for the explanation, Beerman. Cheers Steve
  21. How long do the effects of the G warm-up exercise last? And, assuming you do this exercise at the start of a sortie but then are unable to go straight into BFM or ACM, would you repeat it before you start pulling Gs? I am also curious to know how much of a difference it makes to your ability to sustain Gs without experiencing GLOC.
  22. True. That lab equipment already weighs enough as it is! Reminds me of one of my all-time favourite films. Can't find a screen grab of the aeroplane sleeping scene, so this will have to do:
  23. 1) PIC was a Brit 2) U/C was indeed 'put up'
