How have you handled uniform Nazis?
Reminds me of the sign hanging up underneath the bra: NO HAT/NO SALUTE AREA ------------------------------ HAT/SALUTE OPTIONAL The essence of shoeclerkness. HD

Challenging Instrument Approaches
The TACAN-Y is always a popular pick for the Corpus grads. The VOR into HAAB was a bear with the high terrain. The HI-TACAN into OAIX is probably the steepest descent I've seen on an IAP. HD

Info on flight boots
The Bellville 690 is approved for flying. On a separate note, I'm getting tired of seeing people running around base in BDU's with green boots. They may not have a set of ABU's yet, but they're so damn excited to drink the kool-aid that they'll run out to buy the Bellvilles as soon as AAFES stocks them. While it's true that most squadrons will only issue the pukies now, it also seems that quite a few shoeclerks in the AF tend to have catastrophic boot malfunctions and need a new pair the same day the pukies become available. Blue Angels vs. Thunderbirds
The Blue Angels and the T-Clones are both equally annoying. HD

How have you handled uniform Nazis?
It depends. Casuals wearing bags in an operational squadron or ops group goes without saying. In the AETC world, casuals at UPT bases usually don't wear bags. But I would say it's more likely if you're casual at a non-UPT base. HD

How have you handled uniform Nazis?
Uniform nazis usually have no idea what the reg that they are trying to enforce actually says. Most of them just heard it from their first sergeant or read something about in the desert penguin. A simple "Where is that written?" is usually a killer. Whenever a nazi confronts you, look over their uniform as well. Chances are they are also out of regs. HD

Boeing Type Rating?
Technically there isn't. The Boeing designation is the 717. Whether an FSDO will give you a 707 type is beyond me. Anywords from Bergman or Scooter on this one? HD

Vance AFB information
There's a saying, "If you don't like the weather in oklahoma, wait five minutes." Hot summers, generally mild winters. Lots of rain in the spring. You'll see a little snow, but freezing rain and ice storms are more likely. Enid is in the middle of the great plains, so it's nice and windy. Yes. Enid is in the middle of Tornado Alley. HD

?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)
I know what you're getting at. What you're referring to is just a ROTC-ism. Basically, when you get a rated slot, your category changes because you don't have to compete with the other cadets for jobs. Gotcha. It's normal for navs to be in the pipeline for less than two years. Most nav start flying the lines in an ops squadron before they pin 1LT, depending on the MWS. But for discussion purposes, 8 years is a good wag. HD

?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)
Rated officers are line officers. Line officer is a competition category for promotion. ADSC big picture: -If you are selected for a rated position, you will sign an ADSC statment. -The ADSC will begin from the date you complete training and receive your wings. -If you do not complete the training, you do not incur the ADSC associated with it. -All ADSCs run concurrently. -Pilot ADSC - 10 years -Nav ADSC - 6 years (Dubs, I don't know if it changed to 8 years or not, but afrotc.com still says 6.) -ABM ADSC - 6 years HD
