I have a Mossy 500 Persuader, it's my HD weapon of choice. It's the AK of short-barreled shotties! But this deal was put on hold, the seller decided to hang on to it but promised me first shot at it if he changes his mind. Since we never solidified the deal, i have no problems with that, I really wasn't in the market for a 28" shotgun at the moment anyway... To me while I applaud the return to the .45, I don't see the 1911 being the best platform of choice. There are numerous modern .45s available that would be more dependable, lighter, have higher capacities and will require less maintenance than the Browning design. Don't get me wrong, I love my 1911s but I don't carry one. I am much more comfortable with my XD with its 13+1 and absolutely perfect record to date with thousands of rounds down the pipe. I just think there were better options... Cheers! M2

Dang, the last thing I need at the moment is to buy another gun; but a buddy of mine is offering this to me for $150 and it's too tough to pass up on... It's a New Haven 600AT (made by Mossberg and identical to a 500) 12 gauge pump shotgun with 28" barrel with the select choke feature. Gun has been freshly duracoated in HK semi gloss black and has beautiful wood furniture. Runs 3" and 2 3/4" shells. Anyone ever run one of these before? Cheers! M2

Maybe they got distracted playing 'Repeater'... That'll happen...

We get it, but we also understand that there's always more to the story than just one person's perspective, even if that person was the victim. You've been on G-series orders before, so should know this as well as anyone. As Vertigo said, no one is condoning what happened to the girl; but there were contributing factors on her part and there is no need to idolize her for breaking the law herself. She has my deepest sympathy for what happened, but she has other avenues to address her regress that don't involve violating a court order. Two wrongs don't make a right, as the old saying goes... As for Masshole, fully understand the need for comms jamming... Cheers! M2

Lighten up, no one here knows the complete story and there could be numerous other factors involved that would paint an entirely different picture of what actually transpired. And her 17-yr-old dignity was lost when she got so inebriated at a party that she passed out...

Really? Do you not watch the news? Obama's "crew" has been pushing for more gun control for years, and now they're even more livid after this one incident. But honestly the spike in gun sales is more due to people realizing that they may be responsible for their own protection. I work with both Federal and municipal law enforcement agencies and all those that I have talked with about law-abiding citizens agreed that it is a good idea. They realize that they can't be there for everyone all the time. As the old adage goes, when seconds count, the police are only minutes away. I have a good friend who is the chief of police for a town here in Texas and he admits that the police are mainly armed to protect themselves, not others. When they go after a shooter, they are stopping the threat to them not you and I. But as Dave Grossman has pointed out, the world is full of sheep, sheepdogs and wolves. I accept that the vast majority of people fall into the first category, and that the last one preys on them. Some of us fall in the middle, determined to do our best to stop that from happening. Most are like myself, prior military or law enforcement; but a few are just good old-fashion citizens who risk their lives to defend others. Not claiming I could have stopped the tragedy in Aurora, but had I been there I sure as hell would have done my best to try! Cheers! M2

What? I don't own any guns; they were all lost in a terrible boating accident a few weeks ago... All my ammo as well! Cheers! M2

Wow, no shit! But I still prefer the old school AK method of taking a flat piece of steel and having a one-toothed Olga pound it into a receiver! Cheers! M2

It works on any magazine-fed automatic or semi-automatic weapon...

Slap, Pull, Observe, Release, Tap and Shoot (per FM 3-22.9) Personally, I prefer Tap, Rack, Bang.

Like I said, no one is condoning what happened to her; but it doesn't justify her breaking the law either. She doesn't get to decide what justice is imposed, we have a court system that does that and if she feels she has to take matters into her own hands then she had better be ready to accept the consequences. So, does she have my sympathy? Yes. "Utmost respect?" No. And while teenagers do stupid things all the time (I did, and mine do as well), that too isn't a "pass" no more than it should be for the two that assaulted her...

For one, he hasn't played the insanity card yet; that's just media speculation at this point. Secondly, McVeigh wanted to use a "necessary defense" at his trial, alleging that he was in "imminent danger" from the government. his lawyers refused. He still went the route that the US Governments actions at Waco (Branch Davidians) were illegal therefore the bombing of the Murrah building in Oklahoma city was "a justifiable response." We all know how that worked out for him. So, how can you claim that there is no way that insanity can play into this Holmes' actions in Aurora? One could easily argue that a sane person would never do such a thing, so I see it as being totally plausible for that very reason. You need to explain your comment that anyone that disagrees with that needs to "recage their idea of sanity" as I don't get your point. You're saying that a person who walks into a crowded movie theater and open fire on hundreds of innocent people is sane because forethought and planning where involved? That's a pretty warped sense of sanity in my opinion! Still, it doesn't mean he gets to wander away scot-free; if Holmes' defense does successfully pursue the insanity angle than he still needs to be removed from society and be placed in restricted custody for the rest of his life. Not saying that is the case just yet, but it is a possible course of action...

An underaged female drinking so much that she passes out at a party doesn't get my "utmost respect." That doesn't condone what happened, but a little personal responsibility is also in order. Plus, the identities of the two offenders were ordered secret by the court; most likely because they were also juveniles. Now she's broken the law as well, and to what end? How is identifying her attackers getting her justice? The First Amendment is not absolute, and she (and her lawyers) know that. She tried to take the law into her own hands, and now she's getting stung by it. What a fucking mess...

A little food for thought...

Kudos to Mitt Romney for defending the Second Amendment through all this. I'm still not a big fan of the guy, but his recent comments have brought me closer into the fold...

I'm sure this will come as a shock to some, but my belief is... The answer isn't less guns, but more! I've already stated I think it would be a horrendous situation to be in, a crowded, dark, smoky movie theater with someone shooting and people running and screaming in all directions. I would say there are numerous reasons as to why not to take a shot at the culprit, but there is one really damn good one as to why a person who is armed and capable should. It would have likely stopped the threat. Had there been several armed citizens in that theater who took action against the threat, it would have seriously changed the outcome. As stated, this guy was not brave, and the mere sight of a few muzzle flashes in his direction would most likely have caused him to go on the defensive and run. He does not strike me as the type to engage in a firefight, he is one of those gutless individuals who will only act when he has the advantage. Yes, as I have stated there are very good odds of hitting an innocent individual, but those persons' lives were already threatened by the shooter. How much more lethal would it have been with a person returning fire? Some would say double, I for one argue that it most likely would have stopped the slaughter much earlier. Sure, I can think of numerous reasons why returning fire wouldn't be the best choice in this situation; but the truth of the matter is that it still would have been the only choice. Most Americans have this inability to think beyond the "winner-loser" perspective, probably because we as a society are so sports-fanatical; but sometimes there just isn't a solution ("victory") to a problem but merely facts that must be endured and dealt with. This was one of those situations... Cheers! M2
