  4. I know of one person here who declined continuation and was offered TERA, so yes it is a possible "back door"...or at least it was. We will see if this continues. Posted from the NEW Baseops.net App!

  6. Unless you read the notes and argue they apply. I successfully avoided a requal ADSC with note 1b.

  7. You should have never received the 3 year commitment for a re-qual IMO. I went through two separate re-qual courses and received no extra commitment.

  8. Tonight we honored a fallen soldier during a ramp ceremony at BAF. As his team unloaded the flag draped casket from the HMMWV and walked him up the C-17 ramp, five soldiers from the 10th Mountain Band played Amazing Grace and another somber and respectful song. Soldiers in the 10th Mountain Band carry weapons, can pull guard duty and are capable of killing the enemy. They also have unique musical skills and equipment to honor the dead and comfort the grieving in combat. Their primary purpose is combat and ceremonial duties while entertaining is a collateral duty. Our Air Force bands primarily entertain and should be cut to the level where they only support ceremonial events in the DC area. We can contract the entertainment if we decide we can afford entertainment for a fraction of the cost. Cutting our AF bands (not including TIB) by 75% would save $180M in personnel and O&M costs over the FYDP. Cutting AF bands and eliminating their AFSCs are easy decisions that should have been made years ago.

  10. I missed the pole dancing in there. Drag isn't sexual (at least that show wasn't). It's no worse than the hilarious powderpuff games I've watched at high school games with the guys in cheerleaders outfits and chicks in football jerseys. What about all the youtube vids of soldiers/marines/airmen/sailors in only short shorts singing madonna or Brittany spears? Mountains out of molehills.

  11. Hello, I plan to go into a 4 year university, enlist in the ANG, and major in aerospace engineering. When I graduate college, I plan to score high on the AFOQT and apply to fighter units. I have a few questions regarding this path. I really want to become an F35A pilot preferably with the Vermont ANG. My first is" Will a high AFOQT score make up for a low GPA in college?" I am worried that since I am majoring in a tough major, I will have a low gpa, therefore making my fighter wing application look less competitive. I also plan to have my commercial pilot license/rating by time I graduate also, plus my enlisted service, to make my application look competitive when applying to UPT boards. Typically, how many people usually apply to fighter wings in the ANG each pilot slot opening? Thanks. I am new here on baseops and I'm trying to do as much research, and get as much help as I can to achieve my dream. Thanks for your time for answering! Also, I forgot to add, what other things can make my application even more competitive?
