Well here I am a month from starting my journey to becoming a pilot. I'll be starting college and AFROTC. Of course, I've been pretty lazy this summer and I told myself I need to start exercising to get back into shape. I'm actually pretty busy (work 7 days a week, almost all day... family business) but I plan on working out in the morning. Just curious what all of you do to stay in shape? Just run and sit-ups and push ups? Or have you found it beneficial enough to get a membership at a local gym? I figured just running, sit ups, and push ups would do it but I'm no expert in exercising. I use to lift but I'm not in good 'ol high school anymore where it was free. …

Anyone else know they're in 06-01 at Laughlin? Report dates? I'm there Sept 27. (Doesn't this make you other XL studs feel weird that we're starting 06?)

Hey everyone, I need some help. I'm starting my PPL and I want to use my Dave Clark headset, but I need a Gen. Av. microphone (8 ohm I think) first. I also need a two-wire adapter, but those are pretty easy to find. The only place I've found so far had the mic's for like $140 plus shipping, but I figure there's got to be someplace cheaper. I checked on e-bay, but couldn't find any, and did google searches, but couldn't really find what I wanted. Anybody have any extra lying around or know where I can get one? Thanx!!

I don't know if there are any KC-10 guys/gals here, but I have a few questions about what I can expect once I get to my unit. I will be flying with the 76th ARS out of McGuire. I'm trying to find out how much flying/work (i.e. MONEY) I can expect. Not that it really matters, but I live in the deep south now, and I'm trying to figure out how much of my current lifestyle I need to do away with before I get there. Any insights about pay, BAH, TDY, etc. would be greatly appreciated!!

When the grunts in my office give me shit about the tiger-stripe BDUs (spit), I fire back with this... If anyone wants to **** with the Army....errrr....look more into this fine program, then go to https://www.goarmy.com/btg/index.htm and fill out the Operation Blue to Green Information Form. It does top out at O-3, so I am SOL. So are you, AirGuardian! Plus, they'd probably want me to cut my hair! Cheers! M2

We had two fail it, they just had to take it again after Tweets if they ended up going to 38's, so I guess the rules are still the same. I think the strike navs have to do it too... If you are lifting weights and keeping in shape, you will have no problems with it. The biggest challenge is the fact that the reps are so slow. Try it someday and gage your progress. Most of my class got over 200, including me, and if I can do it...

Hi all, I am supposed to leave for 1st session freefall. Unfortunately, I'm having a little bit of trouble with my medical. I'm a little bit confused as to what kind of medical evaluation I am supposed to get. My cadre sent me, initially, in May to MEPS to get a class 3 flight physical. I passed the physical, but last week I found out that it was denied because it wasn't done by an Air Force flight surgeon. I was sent yesterday to Holloman AFB for another Class 3 flight physical. Unfortunately the physical wasn't completed because there was no flight surgeon on duty. As a result of this, I got the inital stuff done yesterday, and will have to drive back on Frida…

Many units are able to keep their UPT graduates on steady Active Duty orders to continue their training requirements while they sit and wait to become fully qualified while in the training pipeline! Recent message from the Guard Bureau states: Those trainees who do not have training scheduled within 30 days of finishing their UPT will be cut off of Active Duty Days due to a BIT or otherwise known as "Break in Training!" This is a WARNING SHOT, meaning it has not been put in effect yet. It could become law in a few days, a month or two, or never see the light of day if they sit on it! But, I'm just relaying info just in case you think you're safe until your qualificatio…

I just found this site and it seems very helpful for those who post questions on here so I guess I'll give it a go. I have some questions about what my fiance and I should do when I leave for UPT next Spring. We have been together for 5 years and engaged for 7 months. We are going to wait until after UPT to get married but thats not the issue. The problem is being apart for a year, or more. I would consider asking her to come with me but she is will still be finishing up college so I can't ask her that. Honestly, how rough is it going to be for us next year when I leave. I am excited to go, I really can't wait. But at the same time its going to be a long year be…

Hi, I posted this question in another area of this forum as well as here: I'm going to UPT later this year, and will most likely be class leader. Are there any past or present UPT students and instructors who have any gouge and advice on how to handle a class? I'd appreciate it. Thanks

I was reading through a thread about air surperiority waning (F-15s V. Indian AF) and the "J" model C-130 was brought up with its problems and then the Herk AMP was mentioned. Was is the AMP version Hercules?

I know this isn't the perfect forum for this question, but I figure a lot of you can help. I'm trying to buy an RV-8 to use for fun flying as well as cross country flying. The basic VFR plane is affordable (at least I'm trying to convince my wife that it is). The problem is if I add the IFR package, it's too expensive. I'm going to be using the plane for cross country flying that eventually will be LONG cross country flying (Montana to Louisiana). My question is, if I don't have the required IFR equipment (btw, presently, I don't know much about IFR flying), how practical would it be to use the plane for long cross countries? Will I end up cancelling a LOT o…

Hi folks, I am going to ask a question on the behalf of a very close friend of mine who is an E-5 in the Airforce AD. He pursues his goal to become a pilot/nav in the Airforce and he was determined to apply for the Airman Education and Commissioning Program (AECP) Today we found out on the AFOATS page that he can not become a pilot/nav under this program. Also US Military website on About network confirms this. https://www.afoats.af.mil/AFROTC/EnlistedCo...oning/pilot.htm Q. Can I get to be a pilot or navigator through the enlisted commissioning programs? A. Yes and No. Yes for ASCP, SOAR, and the Two-Year POC-ERP. No for AECP. https://usmilitary.about…
