2025 College World Series

Not normally a baseball fan but the regionals were full of drama this year with the #1 and #2 schools both getting knocked out in the first round of Regionals. 

Also some drama with some of the Florida schools:

1.  FSU made it to the Super Regionals but not without the star pitcher caught on film telling a Mississipp State layer to “Sit down… sit the FUCK DOWN. lil inbred bitch.” How nice.

2. Next up Was U of Florida and their lunatic coach Kevin O’Sullivan who had an absolute meltdown when his game was delay one hour.  The University justifiably forced him to apologize and karma hit him twice with the Gators knocked out in the Regionals when they were expected to make the trip to Omaha

Crazy tournament so far. Happy my Vols moved on to Supers, but a very tough test ahead of them. Not much faith they will repeat their Natty from last year. But they are fun to watch.

Shit talking in non-contact sports is funny to me. Especially when hitting a baseball is already incredibly hard, more than two-thirds of the time people don’t get a hit? Yeah let’s talk some shit.

Shit talking in baseball actually makes more sense to me than in football.  Talk too much in football and the guy might get some extra anger strength and make you pay.  Baseball is 90% mental, so you get inside their nugget, you might get an advantage.  Not to say that wouldn't happen in football, but a bit tougher to knock a lineman out of his game by talking smack.

I think it’s important to note here that talking shit is no different than anything else in sports…Some people are just way better at it than others.  Sure a guy can practice, maybe even get some coaching, or find inspiration somewhere, but the truly gifted are seemingly born with it and you’re often surprised by who it is. I love that a bunch of the old NBA guys have been publicly talking lately about what a master shit talker Larry Bird was. Just looking at him, you wouldn’t suspect he’d have the gift. All I could ever muster was the occasional “fuck you” or calling some dude a bitch. But for some guys it was like reciting poetry, like Robert Frost in a football helmet.
