Also, here's another that I haven't seen posted anywhere:

KC-135's out of Beale AFB in NorCal. Had some family up there for awhile and personally love anything close to gold country.

Tried calling and emailing a few times over the past few weeks to confirm package requirements, deadlines, etc., but no dice yet. Gonna let it rest another week and hope a 3rd time is a charm.

I talked to the POC listed for Beale in early March and they sent me an application. However, they said they'd just been assigned some pilots from UPT and didn't plan on having a hiring board soon. Granted, things can change fast, so its encouraging to see the job posting.

Anyone know if our favorite Buckley applicant got the call?

Ah, right on; thanks for the intel! Hopefully this means they'll be opening up to applications; we'll see!

I don't remember seeing this on Bogidope or anywhere but came across a posting for a joint UPT board at AK ANG (176th Wing and JBER and 168th wing at Eielson). Link here: https://www.176wg.ang.af.mil/Careers/Flying-Officers/UPT-Application-Information/

Just as an FYI, they just dropped all of these on Bogidope, all out of Anchorage unless otherwise noted: HC-130J, KC-135R (out of Eielson), C-17A, and the HH-60G.

Would love to PM with anybody who may have insight/wisdom into potentially managing a longer commute to a unit like that out of Anchorage (it'd be ~6 hours door to door by air for me; NorCal based). Very interested in applying here.

You won't be disappointed with the experience. I was given a UPT slot with Alaska in 2014 with welcome arms. If anything, its a great reason to visit Anchorage for a day or two.

That is music to my ears, as I'd love to apply and get picked up with them. Mind if I shoot you a PM with a few other questions?

Go for it

I think this is a great topic to add to some of the commuting threads on here, yes? I'd be interested in what the consensus is or how people make in work in a situation similar to yours. I'm somewhat limiting myself to places I can drive to in about 3 hours.

Right on! I did some search and didn’t see anything specifically tailored towards this, so I’ll spin up a new one. Great call!

Anyone applying/applied to the 183rd Airlift UPT Boards? I got in contact with them months ago, thought I had the application materials sent to me, but now I cannot find them. I'm worried I won't be able to contact the designated recruiter in time. Anyone have that information?

Yes. I know I waited until the last minute to check. It's been a crazy month. If you get me the info, I'll Venmo you enough to get your favorite six-pack. You can also optionally call me and tell me how dumb I am for waiting this long.

PM me and I can send the 183rd info packet. ^

Was just about to ask about this. Did they complete the calls or just start?

So the 159th Fighter Squadron in Florida requires a letter of intent for their applications. Is that just a weird way of saying cover letter or is that actually its own distinct thing?

This is what the google machine has to say,

"A letter of interest is a document that conveys your desire to work for a company that hasn’t posted a job opening. This letter lets the hiring manager know that you’re interested in seeking a position with the business. It explains why you would be a good fit for that company, what your qualifications are and where you see yourself working. A letter of interest will often include background information that details why you’ve chosen to reach out.

A cover letter is a document that accompanies your resume and briefly explains your interest in a particular job posting. The elements of a cover letter are similar to those of a letter of interest. However, a cover letter refers to a specific job that the company has advertised. Your cover letter helps your resume stand out and should make the reader more interested in reviewing your full resume and contacting you for an interview."

Ahh but that's a letter of interest! The application calls for a letter of intent.

Trying to help triangulate this one for you, I came across this old UPT hiring post for the 78th ARS out of New Jersey:

“Letter of Intent/Cover Letter to the Commander”

The context there seems to suggest this may be more or less the same as a cover letter.

Maybe that helps? The PoC at the 159th may be willing to shed some light too if all else fails!

Best of luck with your application!

I was going to just tailor my cover letter for the letter of intent and call it good.  I'm sure there's plenty of better reasons for them not to hire me than that lol.

While we're on the topic of that board though, does anyone know if the Point Credit Summary applies to active duty or just existing Guard/Reserve folks?

This is for UPT candidates right? Not rated pilots. And what is "Copies of OPRs or Civilian Appraisals"? And in the requirements it says "attached questionnaire" but there isn't one.

I think at the very end of this one it notes "*Rated/Military Candidates Only", so it looks like you already gotta be a BONE driver for this one, OR, maybe already in the service, depending on you interpret that...?

Well, thats what i originally thought, but I think what it is actually indicating is that the certain items with an asterisk* next to them are required for prior rated pilots. But I will email them to confirm.

The asterisk is on certain requirements that they have specifically for military candidates (they have it on OPRs and PT scores) - they also have a few items on there explicitly not for military candidates, like AFOQT scores. It's worded really weird but it looks to me like they're hiring both rated and for UPT.

Wording might be a little confusing due to the lack of punctuation or separation between requirements. If you break down all the requirements separately, you can see that is an UPT opportunity for both Civilian and Military who are prior rated or not. If you are Mil, then all items that have an asterisk apply to you in addition to the requirements without an asterisk. Good luck all.
