Clark Griswold
Saw this video origially on military.com and was wondering if a C-5 guy knew if this plane was damaged from this amphibious takeoff? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUx5wTV4XVk
Bayou_Eagle_Driver
I'm not a C-5 guy, but yes, there was extensive damage. Edited February 7, 2013 by ȘÅİňŦ

Clark Griswold
Thanks for link, I was about 99.69% sure that it was a very interesting day for that C-5 and crew but just wondered if they had any kind of protection against this (or other FOD during t/o & landing) since they can operate from austere locations... glad it worked out ok... LockheedFix
The C-5 can operate from austere locations? Kind of like C-17s can land on dirt runways. Sure, if no one else ever plans on using that runway ever again.

Have fun selling French fries Flash flood really means "flash." Could be that the two vipers and the Metroliner they held short for just didn't report the 2ft of water they landed through?
