Reserve Wing being stood up at Little Rock AFB

Recommended Posts

Because the AD is going all J, the Reserves were chosen to take over the C-130H FTU (decision made summer 2010). They've been building up since 2011, and now that is changing. The 189 AW got political backing to take over the majority of FTU training because the C-130 instructor school is going all simulator. The Guard is supposed to get 75% of the FTU, while the Reserves get 25% & are combat coded. Lots of issues to be worked out still...

This is what I mean, why is there Reserve and Guard on the same base, basically doing the same mission? Kinda like having two squadrons of herks at MSP (1 ANG/1 RES). WTF? With how small the reserves are, why are we funding a complete and separate competent? Ex...we have an A staff for both AFRC and ANG...seems like lots of wasted $$$$.

We cant combine services. Active Duty says it would be too hard.

The U.S. Air Force will work to standardize the pay systems of the active duty, Air National Guard and Reserve forces, but it does not plan to pursue a proposal to merge the Guard and Reserve, the service's chief of staff said. The retired generals who propose the merger say it could save billions of dollars and improve U.S. security, but current service leaders say it's too big an undertaking just now, particularly as the service prepares for recapitalization and budget uncertainty.
