Anyone care to share his most memorable experiences in mock air to air fights? This could include a simulator fight as well I think. Could be the time you took on the most challenging or most reputable opponent. Any humorous, dangerous, or accidental moments during or around training?

If not your own, do you know a story of another, or perhaps a famous story from another era?

Also how did a day of mock fighting go? What was your first engagement like? Did you go out with an instructor all day? Did you go up against several different people in one day or was money so tight that flight time was limited? Did you ever challenge anyone outside of your squadron?

Money was tight, lost the edge, had to fight Mig-28's on my first DACT (Dissimilar Air Combat Training). I was at a special school for DACT and had to fight a replica of the Mig-28, the small little bastards had a great turn radius and were hard to see, but I knew we would get the best of them. As we merged, I went up, he went down (sts) and now I had a vertical fight on my hands. I did a split S at the top of the fight, switched to guns (too close for missiles), and tried to hit him with some 20 mike mike (20 MM), and dammit, missed. Uncaged a AIM-9X on his ass and fired, that thing does not miss. Best part of the story was when he pooped himself when I called my FOX-2 (no really, he soiled his flight suit), he couldn't believe it!! Thanks for asking, please mods, let him respond before anyone else, I think this is the best story ever!

The part where you went to a special school doesnt surprise me. What is a replica Mig28 made out of?

I was in the simulator once. We were cruising at 270T, when I asked the nav to get my box lunch. A fight ensued. When the dust settled, the nav apologized, and then brought my lunch and the copilot's as well. Good thing it was just a box lunch in the sim and not an oven-baked meal over Afghanistan. I don't have any more ACM (actual cooking maneuver) stories.

He said mock fights, that shit is straight-up mutiny!

What CH said, but the truth is no one has been that close before.

This one is pretty famous...

"This one time, at band camp, I shoved a flute up my pussy."

I heard from an astrophysicist (so you don't salute her) that the Mig 28 sims don't bleed energy below 400 knots like the real thing...and won't do a negative G pushover...

I saw a MiG 28 do a negative G pushover...range was about 2 meters...

This is pretty much your average week in any given fighter squadron. Lots of "engagements" happening.

(And if it's an Eagle squadron, it's pretty much the same....but without the girls.)

Not my story but I once heard an RPA guy say something about going beak-to-beak with himself in something called a MAC GCS. I'm not certain but I've heard that you can pay to see that in Parumph.

You guys must all be on the alternates plaque... down in the ladies room.

I got news for you, molesting sheep in farmer Joes field after getting lost on the way to the target area is not what we consider a "victory."

But hey, none of my business. My only concern is what your viagra does to those poor sheep.

As for the Eagle guys, I dont even want to know about it.

Who is "we" and why should anyone here care what you (collectively) think? Picking on the Eagle guys is dangerous. No one will like you because you are dangerous.

That's right "GenericDisplayName", Dave1 is dangerous!
