It's not so much the camera on the tail that most pilots will not like, but the camera in the cockpit. Is it a replacement of the CVR?

Look above the center jumpseat, and you'll see it.

Here's a cool link of a panoramic view of the cockpit. Thought someone here might enjoy taking a look.

There is a camera mounted on the tail? Kinda neat...

Cool link.

Interesting that both seats have NWS tillers.

IIRC, Airbus uses the same cockpit layout on all their models (other than the A300).

Also, I think the A340 has the tailcam as well. The display has boxes to signify where the gear is, and IIRC it'll project lines to show where the gear will track based on NWS displacement. Handy feature for jockeying an A340-600 through tight taxiways, I suppose.

I saw the A380 depart Dubai Int'l after the airshow last year. Shut down departures for 5 minutes while the dust cloud settled from the outboards. You can see the beginnings of it here:

Nah, maybe the flight deck camera is so that we no longer have to watch the crappy CRM videos... now we can see the actual footage of the FE talking about which hotdog stand to eat. Or perhaps going back to the French video a few months ago, it is for the manufacturing of Porn.

Is the third(center) seat a dedicated FE seat or is the standard crew two pilots?

I would guess the days of the FE in a newly designed airliner are gone. Long gone.

I don't think it has an FE.

You forgot step 1/2. Find a stewardess less than 60 (age and/or dress size)

On that line, what are the large breast shaped things on the pedestal?

Wristrests. To support your wrist/arm when fat-fingering the CDU (or possibly a F/A)

Alternate idea: simply use the camera, instead of a hook, for hanging your hat.

Close, but i think there's actually a trackball on the forward part of what I like to call the "teet" of the A380. It has a point and click system for selecting some of the main pages.
