A-29s made by SNC selected by Nigeria and approved for sale:

But we still don't have one after 12+ years of "studying" it...

You’ve got a better chance of seeing Jesus blow Buddha than anyone in the CAF flying a USAF Light Attack in the foreseeable future.  Barring some major shift in either USAF mentality or leadership the AF is going to continue to drag it’s feet on this until it eventually goes away.

If they have one we need one...

AG600 just made its first water landing:

Article on it from Task  & Purpose:  https://taskandpurpose.com/china-ag600-amphibious-aircraft-landing/

Yeah we can’t allow a “flying boat gap” to develop.  Probably need to prioritize this right after F-35, KC-46, B-21, new ICBM, Light Attack, 6th gen Air Dominance, hypersonics, nuclear cruise missile, fixing hurricane damaged F-22s, stopping the invasion of Central Americans, Space Force, maintaining the Afghan live fire training range........

In other news, I have a reliable source telling me that all these years the chemtrails I’ve been diligently spraying are really compounds specifically designed to suppress red state voter turnout (I always wondered why we turned them on over Iowa). Well, I for one am disgusted by this practice and will be sending a letter to my congressional representative as well as Infowars, and probably that redstate.com website as well, blowing the top on this whole sick operation! Just as soon as I get my Alex Jones branded tin foil hat and penis enlargement ointment.

Don’t fall for that penis enlargement ointment trick, it’s another Deep State false flag plot.  Just lookup Anaconda Malt Liquor if you need proof.

The AC mafia may not like or want Light Attack but the GO’s running AFSOC do.

AFSOC Light Attack mission set 1 is for Combat Aviation Advisor training, 2 is for AFSOC CAS, 3 is for AFSOC Advanced Advisors.

This is for the most part a true statement but it comes with a caveat.  AFSOC & SOCOM leadership have been very clear that while SOF wants this capability they will not get ahead of Big Blue.  SOCOM wants the AF to pay for the basic iron on the ramp and they will pay for the SOF peculiar equipment on the aircraft.  SOCOM will not pay for the program in its entirety so if the AF doesn’t buy the iron AFSOC isn’t getting anything.

If the argument is there is some kind of necessary civil insert of the order to shoot/kill a US citizen, that’s kinda drawing a bit of a false standard. Put this guy in a car trying to breach an ECP on any military base or federal property and we’re gonna shoot him first. We did our due diligence of warning in that case with the big signs and civil authority is already granted.

Dude there are weekly incidents of civilians running the ECP on military bases across the country (for a variety of reasons) and they don’t get shot, mainly because similarly to this guy they don’t show hostile intent thus the sky cops or MPs chase them down and arrest them.

I honestly think that once this idiot got off the ground our processes worked.  I really think the biggest risk during this whole shitshow was when he taxied onto the runway for takeoff.  If a 777 sized aircraft would’ve been on takeoff or landing roll and he taxiied in front of them he could’ve killed hundreds of people before he even got airborne.

First of all, I graduate from USAFA in 2019 to establish some context that I will be putting in AFSC preferences in August and not long after that competing for ENJJPT.

For the last two years I have been playing mental ping pong trying to figure out whether or not I want to apply for ENJJPT or just elect to go to UPT. I have narrowed down the aircraft that I want to fly in my head eliminating fighters (I think). I have a strong desire to fly in AFSOC, specifically the MC-130 but if not, I would take any platform to be part of that community. If I didn't fall into AFSOC I think I would then place the A-10 as a second choice and then slick C-130's.

What I am wondering is what is my best bet? Will having a T-38 background in ENJJPT make me more competitive for an AFSOC platform or will I merely be competing against better pilots which will hinder my chances of dropping something in AFSOC?

I am curious to hear thoughts across the board as to why one may be better than the other. I would also like to know what I can do in order to increase my chances of getting a foot in the door in the AFSOC community aside from getting lucky with timing and drops in a few years.

    Thanks guys!

I've been in AFSOC and the MC-130 community for my entire career; AFSOC is only place in the AF I want to be; all the aircraft AFSOC owns have some awesome capabilities/mission sets and as with any community each has some drawbacks.  MC-130s have an awesome mission and a great community; as the MC-130J starts to get spiral mod updates to bring it to/exceed the MC-130H standard things will only get better; caveat, as with anything AFSOC, you're going to be very busy.  If AFSOC/MC-130s are what you're interested in keep pushing for them, but since you're young don't close your eyes to other communities/opportunities as you go through training.  PM me if you have any detailed questions.

Well, I read this two ways/have two opinions:

    1) The flt/cc and/or IPs are trying to tell you that if you are only here to get your ticket into the airlines, you are here for the wrong reasons. What we do as military pilots may be similar (MAF) or not that close beyond the fact we are both in airplanes (CAF), but either way, this isn't Embry Riddle, so if that's what you are here for, get out. I see nothing wrong with setting that expectation right up front, especially with all the airline/AF exodus in the news; we don't want LTs who are just waiting for their clock to run out so they can go fly for the big 4 (we have enough O-4s doing that...)

    2) You're goddamn right I'm better than an airline pilot. I'm also the best fighter pilot in the Air Force. If you don't believe me, come fly with me and I'll prove it.  I say that with some sarcasm, but I also know I spent ten solid hours of academics about 2 months ago (and probably 480 more of self study) learning about to use M7.1 in my mighty viper and efficiently employ the 69 different weapons we carry. Not once did we talk about the fact that I am also flying an airplane at the same time (by myself #singleseat), and I'll have to recover it (via hand flying!) sometimes to 200' on an ILS. And I might have 3 wingmen following me around as well. That is just assumed. So when an entire airline pilot's - sorry, crew's - job is to take off, go somewhere else, and land, which is all of .80% of my cranium, yeah, I'll feel a bit superior. They can get butt hurt about that and cry during their drive home in their Maserati and lick their wounds while they don't work for a week, while I sweat my ass off in MOPP4. That's fine, that's the deal, and you bet your ass I envy them in some aspects.  However, I also don't go around telling everyone I am better than an airline pilot, and they are just idiot bus drivers, or whatever. That's just poor form and seems petty. They have their benefits (QoL, money, etc) and I have mine (BFM, dropping weapons, shooting the gun, Red Flag, etc).  No need for name calling, especially since some of them have been here and done this (ref Hacker above and many, many others on this forum)
