So verdict? Wait until six months out to put in for palace chase or put it in when legal to get approved (2/3 commitment)?
-
I hear you brother, I was left in wing scheduling all by myself for 2 weeks the month I was trying to finish flight lead upgrade before IP school while my "boss" decided to take a vacation. I had been flying on average once or twice a month before and after the upgrade. Not the right answer necessarily but I ensured the shop was doing what it needed to but prioritized the flying aspect, got my ass handed to me later. Few can do both but at a certain point, you can be good at your ground job or your flying job. Throw a family into the mix and you're in for a treat.

Goldfein advocating FAA 1500 hour rule change???

The SW airline getting rid of the 1500 TPIC requirement; it is like the heavy v fighter d measuring contests here. They come up from time to time! -

They are targeting mil guys heavily. Anyone also browse Airline Pilot Central? A lot of butt hurt from straight civilian guys over mil guys being targeted.. -
Maybe that has been the trend? The last 4-5 guys we sent to UPT from our MAF squadron were all stellar dudes who volunteered..minus one who had "back issues" in PIT and ended up going to Mildenhall then passed over for Major. If commanders are sending their "rejects" then that is a foul. Molding the next generation of pilots is no pety task.

What should the Air Force be if it is so broken now?
dream big replied to Clark Griswold's topic in General Discussion
But...but who is going to tell the Wing King that his MPF sucks, especially as a bag wearer? "There we go zipper suited sun gods being mean to the ABU wearers again. Everyone wears ABUs when not actively flying and mandatory Friday fun runs to build morale"...there's 95% historical precedence for that.. -

So now the question is: Is Liquid a troll or is he real? Is Liquid Chang? Is Chang Liquid? I'm so confused. -

Yepp, and and any reasons we need NCOs handing out towels in the gym? And let's be honest, most base gyms don't even hand out towels! Why not hire civilians to run the gym while these NCOs can make sure my PCS orders aren't consistently months late. -

And the OPS group ;) -
Are you shitting me? I forgot we exist for the SARM shop. SARM literally gets the most unmotivated airmen. It's been a trend item at every base. I even told this to our old harm chief who worked out with me a few times and he flat out agreed. He spent most of his day holding the fire to the airmen. Getting orders done everyday was like pulling teeth. Was it not SARM that caused the great purge?

No but it was a waste of resources. They sent you to WIC to come back and train young snackos to go to war and not get themselves killed, not do the general's bitch work. I'm sure you felt the same at the time. But I see your point, you probably kept your head down and didn't gripe about it. At least not in public haha!

You bring up an excellent point. We all gripe about lack of mission focus and non-rated not supporting us but how many of us would be willing to go be the FSS commander or work on staff? I sure as hell would bitch about it haha! But at the end of the day, those pilots that do stay in do need to do their part to ensure there is mission focus and part of that is leading from the front up on the staff and orienting the ABU wearers to the real mission. I don't think the issue is that guys who stay in have to work staff. The issue is these staffs becoming so bloated that you send an experienced pilot to the Died for a year to work powepoints. I think that kind of misuse of manpower is what people get mad about, and rightfully so. -

Exactly! If we have a pilot shortage why in god's name are we yanking experienced aviators!? Send some intel or other non-rated folk if this program is that important (to be fair I'm sure it's being pushed from high above HAF..). I know some non rated that would gladly volunteer for this and benefit their career. While we are at it, evaluate the need for a rated dude in various staff positions. I bet most of that could be fulfilled with non rated guys; likewise evaluate whether a 11M could fill a 11F staff billet and vice versa. How did these bean counters pass HS let alone college?

You're not good at making friends are you? As others have asked you with other threads: go with quals: -
Copilots in AMC usually don't upgrade for 2-3 years. If they flew 38s they have no less "PIC" time than wingmen going to IFF from 38s, with probably a heck of a lot more experience and airmanship.
-
So it's non flying, involves 50% staff and 50% trying not to be the next incident of green on blue? Awesome If it is 4 years and you are within 4 years of ADSC are you essentially immuned? Or if you get selected, would you just incur any ADSC due to PCS and serve the rest of your <4 years in AFhands?

I'm sorry, if a harmless joke such as a dildo offends you, you have no business being in the military. What a bunch of sissies. When I was serving our old OG and his wife a beer at the squadron BAR when I was a LT, the wife noticed our bottle opener was attached to a pair of kangaroo balls. She thought it was hilarious and kept opening other people's bottles with the balls. No one complained. Then the purge of 2013 happened and they thing vanished :(. I sent my copilots on a spirit mission to find it since rumor was it was in one of the 0-5/0-6s house. No luck. You don't need dildos to have a good time in the Air Force but it's little harmless fun like that that can make it bearable sometimes. -
And for years I wondered if it was the same Toro... If it makes you feel any better, that email was circulated around the cadet wing and hung up on walls. Poor guy had to feel the after-effects of it for the rest of his time there haha.
-
Dude, you do realize most guys on this forum have already made their decision to punch right? No one here gives a shit about making 0-6 or general. I, like many on this forum, still care about being a good aviator and getting the mission done. You and your cohorts are to blame for this mess. If you were upper management at a company in this kind of mess you and your cohorts would be in jail for fraud/mismanagement/the list goes on.

I've been telling young guys wanting to join to go guard/reserves. They can still serve their country, fly the mission, for the most part without having to deal with careerists like yourself. The guard/reserves provide the same product to national security as their active duty counterparts (some part time and some full time.) In fact, some are better at it because many of them prioritize mission excellence over careerist queep. By the way you have 328 dislikes, that should tell you something. -
We paid MTIs to come TDY to bark at people about their zippers? That's it, I'm done.

Ugh sounds so familiar. break break.. Don't blame these LTs for talking about the airlines during MQT....fear deeply for the state of the Air Force that we have young soon to be copiglets/wingmen already thinking about the airlines. God we are so f8cked -
Great attitude. Not sure why specifically you wanted T-38s but part of the reason many want it is to put bombs on the bad guys. There are a few opportunities to do that in the T-1 track (gunships, AFSOC in general.) Best of luck to you
