Does anyone know the status on the AFRC UFT Board for May? I have not heard anything from my recruiter or unit. Correct me if I am wrong but from my understanding, the AFRC board is just a formality and most sponsored applicants are selected as long as they are qualified. I am just trying to prep myself for the worst case scenario as I do not like surprises.

I am also an interservice transfer guy transitioning from the Marine Corps to AFRC. My recruiter sent my scrolling paperwork at the end of April with a temporary DD368 that was signed off by my squadron CO just for the sole purpose of initiating the scrolling process so hopefully it gets done smoothly. The Headquarters of the Marine Corps approved my conditional release from active duty for 1 Nov without reserve commission or IRR commitment which I am glad about. All in all, I just do not understand why the scrolling process takes 4-6 months, that’s not including the time to obtain a DD368 which can take anywhere from 4-6 weeks. Maybe I should avoid all this hassle and stick with the Corps so that I can stay in shape - my hiring unit told me that I’m going to be the only one PTing at 0600..[emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gotcha. I was told that each component has a set number of slots allocated weekly for applicants. AFRC gets three slots per week for FC1.

How in the world did you manage to get yourself scheduled for June to do your FC1? Are you an AFRC or ANG guy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Theoretically, a brand new copilot should have 300 MDS hours to be a GS-11 following a prog tour if the UPT hours did not count. However, your MDS hours at the end of your prog tour depend on the length of your prog tour and the hours you accumulate at FTU. Maybe your unit is kind enough to keep you on the prog tour until you reach 300 MDS hours so that you can skip GS-9 and go straight to GS-11.

According to my hiring manager at my Reserve unit (GS-12 ART), UPT time does not count, only MDS hours count. Maybe every unit is different?

This is a great thread. I also concur with most folks on this thread. As an active duty Marine, I had my fair share of deployments, exercises, and PMEs that required me to be away from my family. All in all, I was away for a total of 1.5 years out of the 6 years I served in the Corps. My best advice to all future UPT students with family is "stick with your family" because the chance of you being away in the near future is fairly high. So why not maximize the opportunity to spend time with your family when you have the option to do so? However, I completely understand that every situation is unique and not the same. For what it's worth, I will be going through UPT with an 11 year-old, a 6 year-old, and a newborn as a 31 year-old-crusty-Marine-Captain. And yes, I absolutely planned on attending UPT with a "Fire Team +"...thanks to my lack of self control

I am in the same boat. My FC1 paperwork was submitted late April and received a date of 3 Sep. Is there anyway to expedite FC1? I was told that it can take up to 3 months to have the FC1 approved. Where you start on the GS scale (GS-9 or 11) depends on how many MDS hours you have following your seasoning tour and from what I was told, your sim time counts. Below is based off of 2018 Special Rate Table Number 0767 for 2181 (Aircraft Operator) for STEP 1. GS-9 = $50,598.00, less than 300 total MDS hrs (UPT grad) GS-11 = $76,940.00, 300 total MDS hrs GS-12 = $92,220.00, 750 total MDS hrs

I was recently hired by a heavy reserve unit at age 30, currently a non rated O-3 in the Corps with a PPL. I know of a guy who got picked up at 40 years old. He was kind enough to reach out to me when I made a post about age waivers on TPN (Facebook). I had similar concerns like you before the Air Force bumped the age limit to 33. I can get you in touch with him if you would like, he will probably be more than happy to share his story on how he overcame the “age” obstacle. I believe he is a prior enlisted Air Force guy as well. By the way, I thought the Air Force ran 1.5miles? Not to compare but I just ran 3 miles in 20:56 last week on my PFT, along with 26 pull-ups, and 130 crunches. Marine Corps PFT is no joke... I cannot wait to start the Air Force PFT! That’s why I’m making this transition to join the Air Force. [emoji38]

I don’t meant to steal this thread but can I transfer my GI bill to my kids after I transition to the Air Force Reserve? I will hit the six-year mark in July 2019 as an active duty Marine. If all the paperwork moves smoothly, I should be starting UPT early 2020 (yes, inter-service transfer). I understand that UPT still counts as active duty time but I am looking to do the TDART once my seasoning orders is up when I return to my unit. Maybe you got hired on 8 FEB “2019”, FC1 submitted on 7 MAR “2019”, and pending notification as of now? Marines don’t usually correct Airmen on stuff like this but I just had to do it lol.

I was recently sponsored by a C-130H Reserve unit and am extremely excited to be part of the unit. Since I initially cast a wide net, now other heavy units are contacting me to show up to their meet and greet. I am having a hard time deciding the right airframe: C-130H, KC-135, and C-5. Priorities for my family: 1. Full time opportunity, either AGR or ART 2. Airframe/Location what I’d like to fly: 1. C-130H (AL): 12hr drive from home, however full time positions are available 2. KC-135 (MD): 24hr drive from home, however full time positions are available 3.C-5 (TX): home, full time not available My family and I are willing to relocate and live near the unit. Any inputs are much appreciated.

Quick question: I was invited to visit the unit after submitting a package (they do rolling boards). Is this considered an interview or more so like an informal visit?

Did anyone hear back from the 39th RQS at Patrick AFB FL? I believe they recently had a UPT board on 9 Feb.

HotDog, With that kind of hours, you should expect to receive a good PCSM score as long as you do decent on the TBAS. I have less hours (109) and did slightly worse on the AFOQT pilot (89) and still got a PCSM of 93. I do have a similar GPA, however like most says it’s a whole person concept when it comes to selection. Be a good dude and your flight experience along with your AFOQT and PCSM scores will balance things out. Good luck!

FlyArmy, Thanks for the good gauge. I’m going to continue to rush the units. I should be able to compile a complete package together once I receive some letters of recommmendation from my supervisor and mentors. I am definitely looking forward to this opportunity.

Greetings All, I am an active duty Marine Officer (non-rated) and would like to know if I am eligible to apply for the unsponsored UPT board. One recruiter (AFRC Officer Accession) said I could and the other said I could not since I will require two waivers, for age (just turned 30) and total commissioned time (7 years). I am aware of the sponsored UPT option which I am currently pursuing. I have already taken the AFOQT/TBAS, and got my PCSM. Please share your knowledge, thanks!
