  1. i've hunted, fished, hiked, shot guns, even did some drag racing, all while tdy there for school. outdoors activities are plentiful (its relative, i mean it aint alaska). I caught a few nice flat heads under the spill-way. There's also plenty of fat girls with kids that need a rais'n. make sure you get up to Meers for a burger and homemade icecream.. it was on the food channel awhile back.. it's good week nights you can cook your own steak at Charlie's (short walk from the Q's) bout all i have to say about KLTS..
  2. my old squadron, and ironically the commandant of the corps "Tamer" Amos was in the Crusaders same time as me (LtCol at the time), so i am sure he approved of the Crusaders moniker.. I know i'd rather take a JDAM to the face from an airplane with insignia's sensitive to my beliefs...
  3. to name a few.. -all the major business jet OEM's are hiring (citation, gulfstream, bombardier, embraer etc..) -all the major avionics mfg's are hiring (Honeywell, Garmin, Rockwell-Collins etc..) -Jet engine mfg's are hiring (rolls royce, GE, Pratt etc..) -Feedback I got at NBAA last fall and EBACE last week, is that corporate pilots are in demand (part 135 and part 91) -Fedex is hiring around 12 a month -CBP just finished another round of hiring, and is expected to hire more this year -International ISR contract work is still in demand if your single (airscan, dynamic, avenge etc..) these are just off the top of my skull.. i work in management at one of the aforementioned and we have had trouble filling sales manager jobs (that include flying the company aircraft to peddle goods). It's not a terrible time to seperate, its not 1999, but it ain't bad. Not all of these are flying gigs, but most AF pilots are marketable depending on squadron jobs, engineering backgrounds, former mx, etc.. On top of that, many ANG/Res units are hurting for qualified dudes (heavies atleast).
  4. it would be easier to transfer to the front seat.. ie. get a upt slot and kick ass.
  5. Chief shim appears to have a circuit breaker popped (chilly breeze i suspect).. Caution a 28 VDC secondary milk reservoir circuit breaker may only be reset once, and requires a 781 entry.
  6. digital media's a bitch.... I think my dad still has an ear from vietnam but he didnt pose with it on facebook when he removed it with his ka-bar... The solution is not sensitivity training, rather; digital media collection training.
  7. cheers to the BUFF.. I was doing a walk around on the gas wagon at PGUA awhile back and a 4 ship took off. I just stood there in awe, as if I was witnessing the four horsemen of the apocalypse taking to the air to end the world.. thankful I'm on their team..
  8. I would love to have a -52! They are getting cheap too. There's a couple t-28's on barnstormers I like as well, just dont know if i could afford oil for that 1820.
  9. another great stick gone. . RIP Sir...
  10. Luscombe's are great birds, i annual a couple dude's locally and they're a treat to fly and maintain. That one off of barnstormers above is nice, just be cautious with the "panel mounted" portable. Many FSDO's will shit-fit over an air-gizmo mounted portbale (ie. 496) etc on a certificated airframe. I personally think it looks great, but working for Garmin, I've seen alot of dude's told to get rid of it (redo the panel). or you could step up to something a little faster.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MIG-21U-/160771517786?pt=Motors_Aircraft&hash=item256ebaad5a
  11. luscombe, or taylor-craft. I have helped in the restoration of both and liked them both. Stinson is a nice kite too.. buy one already covered (recently) unless you have the time to recover it yourself. It's not hard or cosmic, but time consuming if you want it to look good and last awhile.
  12. because you can't keep them out of the good scotch, when they're home on leave.. and.. 1. same as 2. yes..
  13. thats retail, it can be had for much cheaper. especially in bulk.
  14. this.. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=156&pID=87414 mine has epubs, and a bunch of canned flight plans, works awesome, about kindle sized with a WAAS gps receiver to boot. NACO plates and Jepp chartview. Nexrad in North america....
  15. i've worked in scheduling at an undisclosed location and actually had phuqqers play the crewrest or ORM card to do a fantasy football draft, texas hold'em tournament etc.. or they play the card at no-shit step-time. Seems one would know they are not rested or pissed prior to stepping for the jet. the current arrangement is questionable, but i dont know a better solution because the 5% shit-bag population will abuse any system in place and unfortunately get away with it because we certainly can't have anyone getting a proper kunt-punt. It's unfortunate that a dude that is legitimately tired, stressed etc. gets a ration of shit from mama.
  16. I read this book along with The Black Watch, before i interviewed, and this one was one of the best history books i've ever read. Crazy shit.. http://www.amazon.com/Years-U-2-Illustrated-Lockheeds-Legendary/dp/0764323466/ref=pd_sim_b_1

maybe 70%. . .sometimes a little help is required (fortunately squirrels aren't shooting back), you make a good point. A bro of mine has one of those walther .22 autos and works great with sub's.
  18. The Perch Spray-Bar Half-Mort's (i assume y'all are middle-aged) Bitch'n Betty's As a tanker toad my bar (located in what we in the midwest call a "morton" building) is called: "The Gas-Hole"

same setup i have, and with "subsonic" low velocity ammo it's nearly the same report as a pellet rifle, which makes me deadly to squirrels; they just start falling from trees and their buddies are like WTF? That TC hotshot is a great gun too, but i'll caution you that peeps are about useless if you wanna take him hunting due to the unusability in low light. I'm guessing you could mount a little scope on it though.

I know you stated bolt action but.... I have a ruger 10/22 with a match barrel and it will out shoot my Ruger 77/22 (chambered in .22 hornet). A 10/22 is a fine weapon for the money. I also have an old Winchester bolt action gov't issue match rifle that is .22 LR, and my 10/22 almost shoots as well as it does. If you have to have a bolt rifle, than the Savage Mark II line is about the best for under 500 bucks and it is available with the accutrigger which is an awesome arrangement. I'm looking to get their 110BA in .338 lapua which is suitable for the splitting of many a zombie-wig..
  21. historically, they have been de-mil'd and sold. Alot mil surplus aircraft working today. Dynamic has a good fleet of C90 Kingairs, Airscan was/is using C337 mixmasters, CalFire using OV-10 Broncos AH-1 Cobra's, lots of plice dept's using OH-6's, Lots of fire-bombing S-2's, just to name a few off the top of my skull.. Some will no doubt go to foreign airforces (Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.).
  22. ###### these muther######ers...............
  23. option 2 rumor is the one floating around these parts; combining guard and reserve and giving state gov't the option to use assets as needed/approved. . it is a rumor but it has flowed from the top down (locally).
  24. i didnt shoot her, but i did set her face on fire and then put it out with a wet bike-chain..
  25. ask. . .and you shall receive, second from the left. . enjoy!
